If there is still no way with the Galaxy S4 from 2013, then I doubt there will be any way with the S5 or S6.
The bottom line is, if you're going to trip Knox, be willing to live with the consequences permanently.

Be aware that tripping Knox will disable Samsung Pay

If I'm not wrong, Knox relies in eFUSE tech on the SOCs that basically burns a bit onto it when tampered with. This cannot be undone.

Indeed, it blows a fuse on the hardware. So unless you know how to replace that on the actual board, you will be out of luck.

Interesting didn't know that's how it worked.
I do micro soldering mostly on iPhone and iPads with damaged traces. I wonder if creating a jumper over this fuse would bring back untripped knox. Mines tripped, maybe I'll give it a shot one day I'm feeling risky.

The fuse is actually inside of the SOC (the main chip on the motherboard) so you aren't very likely to get to it without decapping the chip. Though this is speculation, most suspect it is using something like eFUSE https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EFUSE

You can still do it by giving up the fingerprint reader.

Installing custom recovery will trip your knox counter.

But still, if you open your phone you lose warranty. There is no going back after tripping Knox.

Check battery cover

Does That prompt appear on every boot or only when a sensor detects an issue?

I've been wondering that as well. Because I'd swear mine was snapped on correctly and it still flashed that warning. It does it for the charging port cover too but only when its actually open.

I think it's on boot and every time you unplug a USB cable from what I can tell. Waiting to find a way to disable that notification and the dumb volume warning that was also on the previous Galaxy phones. I wish Samsung gave you a way to disable them, but maybe they're worried someone is going to leave it open, dunk it in a glass of water then start complaining about how it wasn't really as waterproof as promised...

Ok cool, I wasn't sure if Wanam was working with the GS5 yet. I'm on the fence about holding out for a root that doesn't trip Knox, but I might just go for it.

IMO knox really doesnt seem to matter in America. The only real reason for knox is that the international version has to be sent directly to Samsung for any warenty, repair etc. That is more or less Samsung's way of telling if its been tampered with. We would have to go to T-mobile for repair or warrenty. T-mobile doesnt really seem to care about knox as they only check for actual physical damage like water damage. Actually, if your on the Jump program they will now (with certain restrictions) replace your device even if its your own fault.

I think that you have to pay the deductable or something but it does cover a certain amount if the damage was intentional. Read the small print of the contract.

This may be of help. It's in the At&t S5 forum, but I've checked and the file is in TiBu for the SM-G900T also, although I haven't tried the instructions in the following link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/how-to-remove-usb-flap-cover-pop-t2808701
Update:
- I followed Option #1 in the link above.
No more 'Check battery cover' pop up.

Impossible to root S6 Edge

Hello to all, i want to root my device, but it seems impossible. I have firmware version G925FXXU3COI9 ...
I've seen Pingpong root and my firmware version is not supported...
I've seen CF Auto Root and i didn't try, because i don't want to trip Knox for the warranty....
I've seen also this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...lkit-skipsoft-android-toolkit-galaxy-t3101195 but it don't speak about tripping Knox (so this method i think will trip it? )
Do you have some idea to work it out ? I'm going mad
I don't see a reason why you don't want to trip Knox. It's good for nothing, doesn't have anything to do with warranty (as long as your problem comes from something that's not caused by rooting/flashing etc) and is only useless stuff.

Haven't seen any place to use that so far. Heck, nothing is using it. Not in the Netherlands that is.
Doesn't really matter for me anyway, my bankcard itself has NFC inside so contactless paying is already possible.

What ? Why you say doesn't have anything to do with warranty ? How you can know if a problem comes or not by a rooting / flashing ? You can't know for ALL the problems...and as long as i know, Knox is always checked when you go to Samsung assistance.

You can use in every shop with Contactless payment symbol . Every bankcard with Contactless support (almost all the bank of the world right now) has NFC inside, so contactless payment it's possible . Some service use your "real"card number, other services use "virtual card number" , generating a new one for every transaction .

Think we'll get lucky again and be able to root the T-Mobile variant?

Like how it was achieved with the s8+?

I think ..... sadly not.... I just cannot get over the fact that it is sooooooooooo harrdddddd to root .. 80% battery is not for me by any means. I will do my best to curb my temptation to get this device but who knows. If google allows an unlocked bootloader, not sure why Samsung won't

Of course they deny it and blame Samsung for locking the bootloader, but I think it's T-Mobile who deliberately orders their phones with locked bootloader.

Yeah it's all of them. Carriers, Qualcomm, and Samsung. Just to collect that 10 or 5 bucks hotspot as a monthly fee. Also so they can re-sell the phone after without having the knox tripped.
They're cheap.
I can't believe I am reading all this techie stuff..
But I cannot stand this S9+ with its unremoveable default apps that just keep popping up ..
I would settle for a solution that let get rid of the FKN Games and Game icon..
I finally got rid of Bixbie… painfully...
I HATE SAMSUNG for these forced apps getting the best real estate..

Question Samsung Care+ | with a tripped Knox | Hardware claim?

Hi everyone.
I've pre-ordered an S23 Ultra and have also purchased a 2 year Samsung Care + plan. I've been using a OnePlus 5 from 5+ years now and the last Samsung device I used was Galaxy S2.
Since Samsung's warranty becomes void if the Knox is tripped, my question is, in case there is a screen/ hardware damage to a rooted device, can it be claimed for repair/ replacement under Samsung Care+?
Because in case a rooted device will not be considered under Samsung Care+ plan too, I think I would prefer to cancel the plan. I'm looking for your suggestions on this. I am located in Canada.
P.s. I see the following exception point mentioned in the T&C's of Samsung Care+, "Device malfunction or damage due to improper installation on, or improper equipment modification to the device."
It's up to Samsung. They may charge you for a new mobo as part of the repair. I would use abd edits to optimize it instead.
Drops will likely be it's biggest enemy; use a good case. These are heavy, corner hitting, face planting happy phones when dropped. With no case a 3 foot drop onto concrete will likely damage it.
You can't trip Knox or root your phone on the Canadian or US S23U. And Samsung Care+ in Canada is only for Canadian phones. So I'm not sure why you're even worrying about this problem?

How can you not trip Knox when rooting? Isn't it an electric fuse that trips when the bootloader is unlocked and rooted?

So, this goes back to @peacey8. How is it possible to not trip Knox when unlocking the bootloader unless there's a country regulation stipulating this?
There currently is no way to unlock the bootloader in the US and Canada. Additionally there is no working root exploit for these phones. It should be near impossible to trip Knox in the locked state. So it's nothing to worry about.
Unlocking the bootloader doesn't trip the Knox efuse, loading an unauthorized bootloader does.
Apparently paid services have been able to unlock the N10+'s and maybe other Snaps. I'm not that interested so haven't followed this too closely. The remote service could potentially install malware and I refuse to risk bricking a valuable device.

It's up to the person checking. Some may take it in for warranty even if the knox is tripped but some won't. I've had that experience before.

You cannot unlock the bootloader on North American variants. Only European. So my point is this question is moot, not that Knox won't be tripped if you unlock bootloader.

Omg! I've recently shifted to Canada and was not aware about this.
Now I wonder, why did I order this 1900 CA$ device.
Is there no way to unlock bootloader in Canadian S23 Ultra units? I am unsure if I'd be able to manage with a phone without an ability to flash a custom ROM.

Might as well get used to it as this is the way the industry is going. For example OnePlus 11 allows unlocking the bootloader but there is no longer a free way to fix your device if you brick it since the 9RT came out. This has meant that the 10T and 10 Pro have had basically no development.
Pixels have unlockable bootloader still and plenty of custom ROMs are available but... well... you'll be dealing with a lot of other headaches like a battery that probably won't even make it 24 hours on wifi and much less than that on 5G thanks to an inferior Samsung modem. They also have random hardware problems like I've had my screen start flickering and eventually get green lines twice on my Pixel 7 Pro and there have been many others reporting similar issues and now there are reports of pieces straight up falling off the phone surfacing too and this thing has only been out since October...
Pick your poison I guess.
wow , this is nuts . Any reason why other than make sure they sell their own software?
5-8 years ago we were laughing about Apple, but now android are doing the same thing.
Those phone a solid 8 years phone power wise, and the only way to keep them updated is aftermarket ROM !
OP, Im coming also from a OnePLus 5, and also from canada.
I also paid 1900$.
And I'm starting to regret my choice, I have only few days to return it.
Should I get a Oneplus 11 ???
I have had Android Phones since the OG T-Mobile G1. Back then, I rooted EVERY phone I have had.
Now, what is the big deal about Rooting? EVERYTHING I rooted for, you can do now without rooting. I don't get it.
Maybe I am just getting old? LOL!

There are still some apps that don't work without root. For example I use Network Signal Guru to read the QCI and report my findings back to reddit. I also use root so that I can take screenshots of any app or screen I choose (the secure flag really irritates me - even Apple doesn't dictate where and when you can take a screenshot of crap on your own device yet I can't even take a screenshot of the Comcast cap usage screen to send to my roommate unless I log into their website).
I can live without both of these things which is why I decided to get the S23U but I'll miss them regardless.

Thanks!! I get that some apps won't work without root, but it seems now that people want to root more to say they did than have a real reason for it.
I e given up on rooting mainly because of the inherent stability issue with Custom ROMs and the constant flashing.
Again, I just may be getting old. Lol!!!
