My Xperia Z2 (D6503) is Germany telekom branded.
I'm about to debrand it and get Lollipop update.
Is it fine to flash a generic firmware from different country?

I'm from Norway, and running prerooted baltic lollipop version. Works fine for me.
I know it works fine with unbranded phones, I have flashed HongKong and Baltic on my phone many times without any troubles. I'm unfamilliar with branded phones tho :/

Hi
Anyone know where to find stock firmware for Xperia sola for Baltic region (Latvia)? Doesn't matter 2.3 or 4.0 Android.
The thing is week after going back to stock firmware (don't know what region, definitely not Baltic) from some custom roms my microphone stopped working. Phone now is not rooted and bootloader was never unlocked, so there shouldn't be any problems with warranty if I can find anywhere stock firmware for Baltic region, but unfortunately so far - no luck.
As much as i know you must use Central Europe version, right?

I already tried both of them, none of them is what I had before, both have some additional aps that I didn't have before.
Which firmware (Baltic or Nordic) I can install on my Generic Z2 bought from Sony Canada Directly?
Thanks
any generic firmware can be used on your device
I've read that as well. My question is why does Sony release numerous generic unbranded ftf files? What's the difference between Nordic generic unbranded ftf and say North American generic unbranded? And if there's no difference, why not just release one single universal generic unbranded ftf? Mind you I don't think North American ftf is rolled out yet.

ril and wifi/mobile data firmwarw is addapted for each region
(not to mind bloatware too)
Ahh. I wonder if that's what was causing me wifi and Data drops with 4.4.4. I was using North American unbranded (I'm in Canada) but I never did try any other unbranded regions.

It shouldn't effect WiFi cause it is same around the world. I was more concerned about LTE radio . I bought the phone directly from Sony so there minimum bloatware, weren't anything except the Sony apps and vine which I removed.
I installed the Nordic version everything seems good so far. Followed the following article

That's good to know at least.. What's the difference between that method and just downloading the ftf and flashing that though?

Nothing I think you are skipping the first two steps
1) Downloading the files from Sony servers
2) Creating the ftf file from that
This gives you choice downloading files for any region

It should work with official baltic 5.0.2 lollipop and I think the baseband should work too. I bought my device from Hong Kong and I use the nordic lollipop and I haven't noticed any baseband disfunctionment. Not sure about the root but it should work.

If you flash a different ROM, i suggest you back up your FTF. To do that, search xda how to make an FTF.
You will need to revert back to your original firmware region to receive updates for that region or flash FTF via flashtool
Quote me in case you expect a reply!
Good Luck
hi folks
I have a Z2 d6502 model and its not rooted and the bootloader is still locked
Im on 5.1.1 stock firmware 23.4.A.1.232 middle east version
Can I flash a USA region 23.4.A.0.546 / R6C firmware via flashtools ?
I downloaded it via XperiFirm and here are the info it gave me about the firmware :
-------
Device: Xperia Z2 (D6502)
CDA: 1281-9706
Market: USA
Operator: Customized US
Network: GLOBAL-HSPA
Release: 23.4.A.0.546 / R6C
Size: 1.39 GB
-------
since Im in middle east, will there be any problems ?
It says operator is customized of the US, so Does that mean that I cant use my sim card and make calls once I flash this ?
You can install that firmware freely. No matter if he was for US,your phone will work normal.
It will work I did the same thing before
It'll work fine.
