Yes, do the update. It should update to Android OS Version 4.1.1 Release 2.
To gain root access, use Condi's S.onyTablet.S [ALLinONE] Tool.

Just do a factory reset via recovery (volume up and power while device off).

4.4.2 update , problems

I just updated to 4.4.2 through pc companion ,
The phone wont deduct the headphones when plugged in , I have to remove and reinsert them a couple of times , anyone else has this problem ,
I also miss the window/blinds unlocking effect...
is there any fix for the problems or should I downgrade to 4.3, if so how I am not rooted ATM.

Don't know about the issues you're having but you don't need to be rooted to downgrade, just pick any rom you like and flash with flashtool.

Help needed: Ota verification issue

Hello, i am currently on 17.1.2.A.0.314, rooted with SuperSU with survival mode enabled. I get the update notification for 23.0.1.A.0.167, but when i download and try to install it, it says verification failed. I had recovery installed previously but i reflashed the stock firmware to remove it( i didn't wipe the data though), but still it says verification failed. Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

your rom has to match stock to be able to update
Any changes need to be removed (root, mods, Other stuff alike )

My rom is purely stock with no modifications at all except the root. Some people updated over the air and that saved the root, that's what i was trying to do too.

im not sure how they did it then :/
root counts as a modified system because you have the SU binary and superuser manager
As I told in another thread, OTA update with root is pure luck if everything went good and remain root.

I was able to update rooted phone over the air many times before this one. Now i'll update only when there is some working root method for 4.4.4 (because i just don't want to flash a pre-rooted firmware as i don't want set up the whole phone from starting). Anyway, thanks for help ?.

No, i don't have recovery! Just the root, but still it's not able to verify the ota update. I am not going to update now, pretty much satisfied with the current firmware.

You need to carry out an OTA upgrade for that to work not all carriers support OTA. And those that do may carry out checks that fail, try flashing stock UK (unbranded) .314 I know people who've had success with that one.

You might have to settle for avoiding 4.4.4 then, as I don't know how much effort devs are putting I into finding a new exploit when flashing a pre-rooted rom is so trivial.
Ok i'll try that, but if it fails too then i won't update to 4.4.4.
Thanks for the help!
