A lot of videos shot with smartphone are in portrait mode. press the full screen will bring you to the landscape. I used to use an app in xposed. but now I am on stock 5.0.2 with root. And xposed seems not working with LB yet.
Just want to ask see if you guys have any other solution for watching the full screen video on youtube in portrait mode.

Hey,
yesterday, I accidently recorded a video into portrait mode. First, i didn't know how that happend, because i held the phone in landscape mode
I run some tests and found the feature/problem (however).
If you hold the phone for a short while in portrait mode (even 1 sec) and start recording the video, it remains recorded in portrait mode, even if you hold it most of the time in landscape mode.
Is there any solution to turn videos back into landscape mode? maybe without loosing quality?
You could try Avidemux or some other video editor to rotate, but you will have to reencode which means at least some quality loss I guess
But I am wondering how you even get the camera to record your video rotated, because the photo's and video's I shoot rotated do show correctly (rotated) on my phone, but when I transfer them to my PC they are all regular landscape
edit: The information about the orientation of the phone during recording is in the metadata, but I cannot find much information about players that support it Youtube however does recognize the metadata and shows the video with the correct orientation
I have a couple of videos in my gallery that are not in the correct orientation when I play them back.
I guess I was holding my S4 strangely while I was capturing them?
Is there a way to change the orientation back?
The videos I want to change playback in portrait mode even though I took them in landscape mode.
I'm running Hyperdrive 8.1, rooted.
I used the stock Camera app for capture and the stock Video app for playback.
There's an app in the play store called "Rotate". Get the paid version (I think its $1.99) this will allow you to set different rotation on a per app basis. There are a bunch of options (global, forced, auto, portrait, landscape, reverse portrait, reverse landscape, ect.....) It even allow you to control your lock screen as well. A lot of great options in this app.

Hello,
so I noticed that the default YouTube had a button with two arrows, that when viewing videos in landscape mode you could press, so that video zooms in a bit, so there is no black bars on the sides.
But with YouTube app update the button disappeared!
1. So have you noticed it?
2. And what can be done about it, or who could be contacted about it?
To view videos with truly full screen was really nice! I want that back!

In new youtube version, It become "pinch to stretch"
Try to pinch your screen like you want to do zoom, it will become full screen
My 7 plus (TA-1062) is running on Oreo 8.1.0. The problem is if I try to watch a movie or video on an apps like Google chrome on landscape mode, the rotation-lock doesn't allow to lock the screen on landscape mode. It's either portrait mode or the auto-rotation mode. If the phone tilts a bit, the landscape mode goes back to portrait mode. Is there any solution to this?
Noticed that few videos are always getting played in landscape mode and doesn't play in portrait mode even if I rotate the device. Tried several players and its the same behavior. Its a bit annoying when using with one-handed mode on train.
Any ideas how to fix this problem?

If you open a video and click on the square inside a square top right corner it will open up in portrait mode PIP on your home screen.
