I wondered if anyone uses this thread since all the help and discussion seem to go on in the main thread.
You may have already discovered that but if not, read this. The download link for English is still live if you want to give it a shot.

alternate symbols with Swype number row mod
Hi,
I have been modding swype for a while using this thread, and I've just finally got around to sorting out the latest version with lollipop. However I don't understand how to change the secondary symbols, I can get them to show on the keys, but holding the keys just reverts to the original secondary key. I've attached my xml below, can someone explain how I can get %*\ / ~ to actually work as seconday symbols? Thanks!
Thanks!

Have seen the template?
You also have to modify kbd_qwerty_panlatin_sym.xml
If you want to see the extra symbols in the longer hold-press multiple choice pop-up or the add more symbols to the blank ones in your number row, you will also need to edit panlatin in /res/values/strings.xml (extras would be added to end of file)
It's good to keep your own template with all the mods to easily edit when the new release drops. It's OK to ask for help in the main thread; most do.

Thanks! That strings file was just what I needed, working perfectly now. Best swype keyboard I've had, I'm very happy with it now. Unfortunately my old posts seem to have been deleted so I can only post in q&a for now.

You're welcome. One more thing, if you want to see the alternate keys displayed on that theme, check this post for theme edit details.

Building error on latest Android Studio
Hello there! I had some issues while following this guide as Android Studio is now on 1.2.1.1 version. I couldn't have it compile but I did research on the topic and found some solutions:
Before anything, I want to point out that the new project wizard is slightly different, and now it does not prompt the user to give it an icon.
First, I was compiling a full font family using the sample file for the Roboto families. First, it would tell me that 'aidl' was missing. To change that, right click app -> Open Module Settings, and change build tools version to 22.0.1 (it's set to 23.0.0 rc1 for Android M test developers), and the error was gone. (Source)
Next, there was an error with the icon. The message was "Error : No resource found that matches the given name (at 'icon' with value '@drawable/icon')." This issue was fixed by changing "@drawable/ic_launcher" to "@mipmap/ic_launcher". (Source)
After that, the app compiled successfully through Ctrl+F9, but an apk was not generated. Following what @rzlatic posted (Source), his compiling method produced an apk under projectname\app\build\outputs\apk. It produced two apks: app-debug.apk and app-debug-unaligned.apk. Either one works. I chose the first one.
As a plus, I tried using .otf font files and it compiles just as smoothly. OTF files have an advantage over TTF in that they produce a significantly smaller apk and they can be resized without having some characters look weird.
It goes without saying that both OTF and TTF apks were installed successfully and the system font was changed without issues.
Hope this helps future people! And thank you very much for all your hard work and posting this guide in the first place!

proper sequence of installing updates & feature pack ?

Hi ! Hows all of you??
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
1) Do I need to download v1.0i n flash before v1.5i+?
A.) Yes you need to do so cuz v1.0i is the actual built n v1.5i+ is just an update package n not a rom in itself.
2) Where is LUNUX OS NEW THEME v3.0i?
A.) Read the #2nd post. There's the link to LUNUX OS THEMES WORLD FOR GT-S5302
3) Do I need to install all the updates?
A.) Yes, if you want the best performance. So aftr installing v1.0i you should flash v1.1i, feature pack v1 then v1.5i+ n then at last v1.6i
A.2) NEW USERS AFTER THE RELEASE OF v1.7i WILL NOT BE REQUIRED TO FLASH VERSION 1.1i ANYMORE. BUT TILL THEN YOU HAVE TO INSTALL ALL THE VERSIONS.
4) Is this actually android version 2.3.7?
A.) Ammm no, this is version 2.3.6 but with updated tweaks that makes it work n look like android 2.3.7.

bluetooth
Hi guys; does anyone knows if this version of Miui 4.8.10 supports Bluetooth 4.0?
I want to buy a heart rate monitor which works with bluetooth 4.0 only.
Thanks
Already after several adjustments to taste it enough ... I have good critiques ... it´s amazing!!!!!.... and simultaneously ..... i have doubt several...
I read a lot of page of the post and i did not find response to my questions.
There we go:
1.-I see that there are 2 compressed files ZIP to flash for switch between the internal and external SD. but i don kow how it works...., I see that it is impossible to see both SD atthe same tme in this rom?
So there the question is .. of what does it(he,she) serve punctually these compressed files ZIP? I do not want to exchange memoes ... only I want to see the two like it it(he,she) was doing habitually in other ROMS.
2.-There are other one (different) compressed files ZIP flasheables to extract the CRT .. I used it and it works perfectly ... (it is a comment ....)
3.- Somebody can explain to me how change this compressed file ZIP flaseable to change the DPI? how many dpi in stock? and this zip change to?
4.- Where is the GPS?
5.-Since it is possible to disable the famous " slide the finger " of the loock screen? I ´m use a PIN to unlock.
6.- what´s is this app? chinnese app?
I send a screen
7.-I flashed the compressed file ZIP of the supersu .... but have I just noticed that this rom comes already roted? Or am I wrong?
only rest to me wait for yours support for help me.... and then... test the kernel apolo and see consumptions and use the BNL of course!!! !
Thanks to all.
I wait could help me.

Im on my phone right now, but you can do some editing of colors and images, which isnt too hard. You have to find the .edj files, use edje_decc to decompile them, you will end up with a edc file and a build.sh file to recompile.
Pretty much what i've found is we will not see custom watch faces on the lockscreen, till Samsung allows us. I have figured out some ways to customize the default digital time lock screen.
If you change any of the api permissions in the xml files make sure to update smack as it will reject it.
Ive been able to pull packages using Sdb. For instance I pulled, /usr/apps/com.samsung.w-contacts2, which has some images that are decompiled, like home screen icons. So I havent actually decompiled anything. Sdb pulls all of the folders and signatures. If I wanted to edit a couple of images then push it back to my watch, how would that be done?
For those that do not know what the directory structure looks like, as I asked in my previous post, download DiskInternals Linux viewer
http://www.diskinternals.com/linux-reader/ Open the program and browse to rootfs.img file of Cipherswitch and mount the image. It allows you to view the files on the image.
What exactly is Flora? I thought all linux distros were open source. Isnt Tizen based on Linux?

@ooms ya, when I pulled that particular app, it came in folders. Now that I think about it, its just a usr folder. I was hoping to theme the whole os.

So digging around, in the contact app folder in res/edje you have 4 .edj files you will need to decompile using edje_decc and edit then recompile.
Flora = http://floralicense.org/
So all the system apps in the source are already pre-compiled, there are some .h files that refer to the apps and "distributor" level api's but no .c files.
So till they release the source can't do too much custom stuff. Kind of like how they release the source of the Note boot loader but it's worthless because it's locked with proprietary information that they won't release.
Just the other way around.

Following the Gear S thread... quick question for another device...
@Cipher,
First of all, great thread, I've been following only for a couple hours and I've read every post from the last month or so (starting when it was posted by someone else and taken over by you in this thread) I'm excited to get started on rooting my Gear S.
On another note altogether though, I was wondering if you knew of a resource where I could get info on rooting the Galaxy S4, AND Galaxy S4 active. I'm currently trying to root both to work with DoCoMo here in Japan and I've read some success stories but have had no luck myself. I'm fairly versed in Linux, Android, and some rooting experience with other devices but I can't seem to get these ones to cooperate.
I've tried the "TowelRoot" and the other vairiant from Geohot with no success. I just finished my 7th attempt with the Kingo root, again, no success. Both Galaxy phones are running 4.4.2. One is the "active" variant, and one is straight up S4. I'm ultimately trying to get all my devices to work on the DoCoMo network here in Japan and I know I can do it with the right resources. Any help you can provide is GREATLY appreciated. Please feel free to email me if you have the time. Keep in mind we are 15 hours or so ahead of you guys so it may take me a minute to respond. Thanks again, I look forward to hearing from you.
