Major lag on Galaxy S6 Edge using Tumblr - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have both a new Galaxy S6 Edge and an iPone 6. Like them both but love the screen on the new Edge S6 more. One thing that is really bugging the Fuc* out of me is scrolling down on Tumblr as the lag is so high that it literally jerks and jitters as I scroll down Tumblr to look at the pictures and GIF's on there. None of these lags or jittering take place on my iPhone 6 though.. Anyone have Tumblr and have these same lag issues with stuttering as they scroll?

How do you think about the overall performance?

I'm planing to get SGS3 soon, thus i would like to collect comments from all of you. Since experienced users are all gathered here. How do you think the overall design, and performance of the SGS3?
your feedback is appreciated. Thanks.
Coming for the S2 this new S3 has big boots to fill. Can it fill them? I'm not so sure....
The things I'm a bit disappointed in are:
Compared to the S2 the screen on the S3 is relatively dim especially in broad daylight.
Wi-Fi connection problems. my rooter often needs a reboot but this does not happen with my other devices.
Very poor sound quality when recording a video
Low memory/RAM which means the homescreen has to redraw after pressing the home button.
keyboard not as easy to type on. More errors than typing on S2.
Rear speaker not as loud as S2
S2 is so much faster even on stock. S3 feels laggy in comparison.
It feels like the S2 is the upgrade and not the other way round. The screen is sharper than the S2 but thats about it. I'm glad I didn't sell my S2. I have three days to sent the S3 back and that's looking very likely.
Sorry to be negative about it, but that's my experience.

r u kiddin bro??/
if you start all your applications still you will not find a single lag on mobile i bet..
In my opinion this device rocks!!
Here's what I think after 2 weeks of using.
Super fast and buttery smooth. Really. Making the phone faster than this would be overkill for day to day usage. Games like NOVA3 runs with very little lag. Though the 1GB RAM is a bit disappointing (a upgrade from S2 would have been nice), apart from a few reloading apps, multitasking is pretty flawless. I am using Apex launcher and rarely suffer redraw issues.
The build quality is solid and feels solid too. I didn't like the design when I first saw the device on May 3rd. But after having it in my hands, it's SEXY. Super thin bezel and very good ergonomics. The curved design was made to fit right in your hands. Landscape and portrait. Feels pretty thin too although it's a bit thicker than the S2. But the back cover is a real fingerprint magnet (I have the white one) and my volume rocker is a bit squeaky but nothing serious.
The screen is a bit dim at max brightness as mentioned. But I really like the 720p res even though it's pentile (Really. I can't really tell the difference unless I have the screen in my face)
Camera is the best phone camera I've ever used. I really like the super fast no lag shutter though it is a bit of a hassle when you have to delete the many unwanted photos because it kinda makes you trigger happy (especially when using burst mode). I didn't really test the camcorder but based on videos on youtube they look really great (especially with the 30mbp bit rate mod). The colors are a bit saturated, but that's the way I like it.
As for extra features, S-voice is just gimmicky and kinda useless (like all other voice controls). Pop-up play is nice to have and works flawlessly but I don't see much use of it. Smart stay works most of the time (and I wear glasses) and is a little bit more useful. Direct call works and handy. But the number one thing I like about it is the RGB notification LED. It is soooooooo useful when paired with Lightflow!!!!
TouchWiz is just ok. Though I prefer Apex launcher more with its customization options. The notification toggles are useful to have especially when you want to toggle something in the middle of an app even though I only use wifi, gps, mobile network, and screen rotation toggles.
The battery is very good. It gets me through the day with moderate usage. (And I use full brightness too).
I can see a lot of potential in the GS3 especially when it comes to rom development. Samsung did a good job releasing the source code early. I'm interested in what the devs would cook up in the future.
Now that some of you have played with the sg3, do you wish you waited a bit longer or would stay of sg2?
One or two apps have crashed on me but overall I really struggle to slow the phone down. Its incredibly fast..

I've also come from an S2 which was by far the best phone I've ever used. The S3 had very big shoes to fill. I can now say for sure that it has filled them.
*I've had no issues with screen brightness either indoors or out. The screen overall is light years ahead of the S2.
*In 3 weeks I haven't had a single problem with wifi.
*Audio in video recording will likely be fixed by Samsung soon. If not the devs will.
*Never had a ram problem. I use ss launcher so don't have any homescreen redraw, which will also likely be fixed soon.
*Llike on the S2, the only keyboard I can use accurately is GB keyboard. Got it from the KitchenPro app (checkrom).
*I find the rear speaker volume quite good. Not worse than the S2. But I installed the speaker mod, also from kitchenpro and the rear speaker blows my old S2 to bits.
*At first I also believed the S3 would never match the raw speed I achieved on the S2. But now on Checkrom + Siyah + ss launcher I can confirm it is faster. The phone is absolutely flying. I can't imagine anything being faster.
Up until I installed checkrom, every time I opened titanium I could read the text as it was initializing. Requesting root bla bla. Now the entire sequence is a blur. Like it was on the S2 but twice the speed.
What's more, the camera destroys the one on the S2, especially low light. The sound quality on headphones is amazing. Using playerpro the sound is miles ahead of my old S1 with voodoo. I still have it. Tested both side by side yesterday and after thinking the S1 could never be matched, it literally sounded crap. Imaging how the S3 will sound when supercurio finishes with it. The phone also looks better and feels better in the hand.
It is definitely a step up from the S2.

I never used s2 but I had HOX until it had yellow corner so I waited for s3 n paid a little more it truly was a good decision. Just rooted before but not tried a kernel or Rom yet but when I do I'll give it a real ragging (just getting my head around odin & triangle away as never seen them before)

Going from S1 to S2 was like moving from analog to digital, but apart from slight speed increase and bigger screen the S3 really isn't noticeably much better, but on it's own it is still a great phone.
I'm going to wait, so, i will stay on SGS2. SGS2 is rock for me, ultimately modded with super fast performance and good battery life. And, my SGS2 have dropped many times and, it now still working super great.
thanks for all of your feedback!

Nexus 10 vs Note 10.1

Ok guys, my friend's Note 10.1 got in a bootloop and he asked me to fix it for him, as it will be with me for a few days and I've already fixed it I decided to do a comparison, feel free to ask for my opinion on things I don't mention.
First off I guess I'll start with the ports
On the left side there's nothing on the Note while on our Nexus we have the Micro USB port and the 3.5mm headphone jack, on the right side we have the micro HDMI out, the note doesn't have anything on this side either.
At the bottom we find the pogo charger on the N10 and the charger/USB/MHL port in the Note, the S Pen is located in the right bottom corner, there's a Mic located at the bottom in both of them.
At the top we find the volume rocker and the power/lock key while on the Note we find those along with an IR blaster and a Holy Micro SD card slot (god damn it google)
It's also worth noting that the Note doesn't have NFC.
This is subjective but the tacky back and sides of the Nexus make it far easier to hold and it feels solider., the glossy back on the Note doesn't feel nearly as bad as I thought it would.
The speakers
I didn't think I would write anything about these but after some use I noticed the speakers on the Note sound better, this must be thanks to Samsung's tuning, as I'm almost completely sure these devices share the same hardwarein this area, perhaps we can copy it?
Oh and by the way the Note has different sound profiles on the video player and Music app, all of them sound better but this isn't limited to these apps, the difference is found across all apps, launch Youtube or third party music players and you'll notice it.
I'll talk about the performance without bringing the benchmarks here as you can find those everywhere else, for this test I´ll be comparing my sister's N10 (which isn't rooted and is completely stock) with the stock Note.
The Note is running 4.1.2 while my sister's N10 is running 4.2.2, I'll start by clearing all recents and closing everything with the task manager on the Note
Scrolling across the homescreens and the app drawer is really smooth on both however there are micro lags on the Note - Disregard that, I had one update left and wehn I did it it got rid of the micro lags while this doesn't happen on the Nexus, I suspect this is the launcher's fault tough.
Launching apps happens at pretty much the exact same time most o the time, the Nexus is faster by fraction of a second some times.
The note does have more free RAM all of the time as it's GPU doesn't need as much of it as the on the N10, It can use as much as 1.78gbs of it while we can only use 1.2gbs
For the browser comparison I'll be using chrome beta on both, all browsing data has been cleared. I can compare the AOSP browser performance but I'd have to use my N10.
I'll just say that the sites load faster the Nexus, after that the browser experience is pretty much the same until you pinch to zoom which brings us to the screen section.
Edit: The S Pen is really useful when browsing as it can act as a mouse when you hover on website dropdown menus and the like.
The screens
This is probably where the biggest differences can be seen (as long as we don't talk about touchwiz), coming from the Nexus 10 you'll inmediately see the jagginess and lack of detail every f*cking where in the Note, from HD videos to text to images, sadly, this is the only thing the Nexus has going for it in the screen department.
The Note has a MUCH, MUCH better color reproduction, the next time I get my hands on my dad's iPad 3 I'll update this to tell you about a comparison between those 2 screens, I think the iPad looks better though.
Not only that but Samsung has also provided it with color modes which are a good thing to have, black levels between the N10 and the Note are comparable they are maybe a little darker in the note HOWEVER I've noticed the Nexus has a better black level (I believe that's how it's called, for reference go here www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/black.php) The note has trouble with the darker tones.
The screen on the note is far far more responsive than the one in the Nexus I beleieve this is a software issues icause on purpose in the Nexus, do the following:
Open the your favorite broswer and make your thumb and index finger touch each other as when you prepare to pinch to zoom, now, with both fingers together start the pinch gesture, you'll notice how the Nexus will NOT begin to pinch to zoom until your fingers are about 1/3" apart from each other, This isn't a hardware issue as if you enable the show touches option in developer setting yo ucan see the device is registering both of them.
Now download and install the Quickpic gallery app from the Play store and pinch to zoom the same way in there, you'll see how that app behaves, the is the way the Note/HP Touchpad/iPad behave when you pinch to zoom in them.
Edit: I forgot to mention that the Note doesn't have any kind of backlight bleed.
The camera
Well, while the Samsung camera app offers many more options than the stock 4.2 camera.for some reason it takes longer to focus and the pictures are NEVER even close to the quality the N10 offers, the pictures are just terrible, I think this is the same sensor as the one in the N10 but for some reason the pictures are full of noise and lack detail.
The front facing camera is just as good as the one in the N10, Hell, I think it's better than the rear facing one, and like in the Nexus, it's one of the best front facing cameras I've seen. (It's miles ahead of the iPad)
Well, that's all I can think of at the moment, feel free to ask about other differences.
Have you done any gaming on the note 10.1? I am especially interested in hearing about heavy games like MC4 or so as sometimes my N10 lags during gameplay for MC4. It is however pretty smooth on other games like Nova 3 and asphalt 7 with gorgeous graphics.
Thanks in advance if you consider this.
Sent from my GT-N7100 or the Nexus 10, heaven knows.
Those who help noobs go to heaven. True story.
What about the battery life? I am really curious about this question.
Sometimes the nexus 10 has some laggs while using the chrome browser.
I also miss the 3g modul in the n10
The battery on the Nexus is a bit better (my sister has a lot of battery sucking apps though, and I'm UV'ed in my Nexus so I won't use it to compare it with the Note) I have yet to try any heavy games, I'll run NFSMW later today after I flash the Note as it went back to the damn bug even after the ODIN restore.
Don't use Chrome... Use the stock browser or Boat browser.
No lags, delays, anything - pinch to zoom is ultrasmooth and pages load fast.
I get the feeling that people experiencing lags or sluggish behavior are running a ton of un-optimized widgets, because I never had any problems and my benchmark results are stupidly high compared to anything else.

I know but you can't load the AOSP browser on the Nexus unless you root it, I could use mine for comparison though.
I actually had the note 10.1 before i got the nexus 10. It was the white version and boy was she pretty. Just a little too much plastic for my taste. The screen was gorgeous! With all honesty I enjoy it a little better then the nexus 10 screen. I guess I'm a rich color type of guy. The downside of the things was the fact I felt the screen was built for the s pen using only. Every time I tried to swipe across a application it would open that app up if I wasn't using the s-pen. It got to the point where it was unbearable to use. So I got the nexus 10 And been loving this beast every since. I love the feel of the tablet, the front speakers are nice and the most important reason why I fell in love with this thing. Stock android and The SPEED!!!! The speed is the fastest i seen on any android devices and i had them all. Also the camera is one of the best you can find on a tablet.

You say the screen was better on the Note?? I just returned the note because I couldn't stand reading text on it, it was just too fuzzy for my tired old eyes. I was assuming the Nexus would be better being that it has a higher resolution. I guess I'll have to make a Staples run and see if they have the Nexus' in stock and see for myself.

He meant color wise, the screen on the Nexus I'd the shapest one you'll find on any tablet, reading on it is great but whoever calibrated it crippled it on purpose.
The N10 is sharp and you will have no problems as far as reading text on it.
Note port?
So I love my Nexus 10, but I was wondering if anyone has tought of porting the Note 10.1 ROM to the Nexus? I just need a little more productivity from this tablet. Plus the stock browser is faster than the chrome.
my nexus 10 also has the hdmi slot.. why the note 10,1 uses a samsung dongle.. like a apple type variant.. only samsung approved

Chrome Performance?

How does chrome perform on the Z3 tab? Just sold a Galaxy Tab S and chrome stuttered all the time. My moto x 2014 is about 98% smooth (very happy with it). I know the Z3 tab has the exact same specs as my moto, but does it stutter during scrolling for you in chrome?
My conundrum is to buy another Z3 and put up with the rainbow screen effect, wait for the galaxy tab s2, or wait for something else.
Smooth with a lot of opened tabs.
Official 612 5.0.2 Very smooth. No lags even with lots of opened apps.

Scrolling sensitivity

I noticed that scrolling sensitivity is quite low and too much scrolling happens if I try to scroll quickly to reach where I want. Touch sensitivity is fine, also scrolling is smooth, issue is only with scrolling rate/speed/acceleration . Anything that involves scrolling, like Web browser, app browser etc.., has this issue.
its a system-wide issue.
Are you experiencing the same?
I notice the same compared to my one plus 6T where scrolling is very uniform and coincident with finger movement. Ive had both LG and BOE screens and both did it so i don't know. Not really a big deal though. Still a super snappy and smooth phone.

The OP5, 5T and OP6 all had issues with jerky scrolling due to frame drops--particularly when scrolling slowly. I'm skeptical about any praise One Plus phones receive in XDA threads for Huawei or Xiaomi phones but I have no personal experience using the 6T.
With this phone I noticed some touch response and scrolling issues on a 256GB model with a BOE display that I ended up returning. The pixel response seemed poor to me on the BOE display but maybe I had a defective one.
I never encountered any similar issues on my 128GB model with an LG display. It's easily the smoothest phone I have ever owned. I purchased it at launch and planned to upgrade to the 256GB model but the poor BOE display nixed that.
I have the 128gb BOE version and while I do concede that scrolling is slower than say the Note 9 / S9 plus, it's very smooth.
They have copied how apple used to scroll, slow and weird hehe. Very smooth looking though.

To reopen this debate, I have now realised the Mate 20 pro suffers from the same touch screen issue that the p20 pro started out with.
When you want to scroll with the Mate 20 Pro, it doesn't register the movement unless you move your finger 1 or 2 mm, then it starts scrolling.
This gives a feeling of lag or delay. It was fixed on the P20 pro after about a month, hoping it will be here too.

Display Comparison Tab S5e and Tab S6

I have a Tab S3 right now, and I'm considering upgrading it to either S5e or S6.
All I care for is the display quality for watching movies and HDR content. I have read that they both have same screen, but S6 has HDR10+ certification? Can anyone confirm the difference between nits?
I have the Galaxy Tab S6 WiFi now 1 day.
One thing I saw is that compared to my Tab S4 the display of the S6 is a little less bright even with full HDR in use the S4 display is a bit brighter.
Testet it with a YouTube Video 1440p HDR10 in both Tabs at the same time.
So if you go just for the display then I would say don't upgrade from the Tab S4.
Edit: I can confirm that the Tab S4 and the Tab S6 have more nits then the Tab S3. But the king is still the Tab S4 on that..
I have s6 one day, before had s5e few months.
New tab has only 2 screen profiles compared to Samsung classic 4 modes.
Subjectivity, natural mode is excellent white balanced and calibrated. Beter then s5e which goes to red white. S4 I never owned and s3 was maybe best calibrated. S2 9.7 also was good. Subjectivity.
Of course, measurements must say that.
Sharpness is superb, maybe little better then s5e, but very similar screens.
Unfortunately, I sold s5e before got this. Direct compare would say all.
Someone will post that probably on YouTube
Just to make you aware that not all display you'll get be the same. The guy who mentioned his S4 having a brighter screen might just have a bad batch screen. Plus he's not using anything to accurately measure it. My S6 comes today, so I'll see how it is.
