Is this even possible? anyone can show me the way to enlightment ?
Can you put android 5.0 on a lumia 930?
Obviously not, since it's running a Windows OS
omg so obvious, how could i miss? trololol
seriously now, can anyone, a real developer or someone who knows rooting and phone unlocking to respond?
or better: is windows bound, written in the rams so you can not replace it with another os?

1. From what I know, Windows phones usually come with bootloaders that cannot be unlocked, so good luck trying to unlock it.
2. Windows is not written in RAM, RAM gets reset every time you turn off your phone. Your phone will boot up from a ROM before accessing RAM.
3. If you really want to boot Android, the only way is to load Android OS onto the RAM from a different boot location. It's called dual boot. Google it.

Hey All
I have a requirement for setting up a dual boot on the HTC Hero using the SD Card for the 2nd OS.
I've looked around and have come across the Dual Booting for the Windows Mobile and Android on the HTC HD2 and was hoping somebody might be able to point me in the right direction archiving this on an Hero.
I'm not looking to run both OS at the same time, ie not running Ubuntu/Debian via a loop device.
So if anyone knows of any good guides for editing the Boot.img, i thinking that where the magic gonna happen, i might be wrong, please i would very much like to hear from you.
Many Thanks

ubuntu in its present form simply will not run. cmd based linux is a possibility for many mobile devices, as has been prooved by cmd linux on iphone os.
I wouldnt know about how to go about this though.
Speak to kendon over on Villainrom forums.I think hes probably the one to talk to as im sure he said ubuntu is possible
Many thanks Bonesy, checking that now. =)
Status?
... and what was the end result?
There is a thread on the villianrom forum for running ubuntu/debian alongside android though I'm still waiting for a new SD card before I try it. I would link but its still down, any ETAs for it being back up yet, I understand it might take a while?

That depends on a lot of unknowns, I doubt the bootloader is unlocked, I have read that some people think it is, but none has provided any confirmation either way.
Then depends on bios and whether or not anyone with the know how wants to do it, seems silly to me, if one wants windows buy a windows tablet.

Ohh okay. The idea of having best of both worlds would be sweet. I did notice that some Dell Venue window tablets have devs putting Android now. Just curious.

Agreed. I'd love to dual boot this tablet. That said, I'm a complete n00b when it comes to the Android OS so my experimentation is pretty limited. I have tried unlocking the bootloader as outlined on www unlock-bootloader.info/mp3-0/dell-venue-8-7000-6714.html. sadly the results were not successful:
C:\r2-motog-superboot>adb-windows reboot bootloader
C:\r2-motog-superboot>fastboot-moto-windows oem unlock
...
FAILED (remote: unknown OEM command)

If folks have things I can try to help with this investigation, please let me know.
If we were ever able to make it to the point where Windows could be installed, the search for usable drivers may take a while. I guess if there is another device with the same SoC and touch screen technology as the 7840, and it runs Windows, a driver dump could be accomplished.
FWIW, Best Buy price matched the HP Stream 8 with a $99 sale at Newegg. That system is amazing for the price

First of all the website you have mentioned doesnt mention the method to unlock bootloader or upgrade your android to lollipop.it asks you to download a file for which you have to complete a survey therfore they get money when you complete surveys. Please avoid these websites they usually have android cartoond in the top and have mp3-0 in their url.AVOID THEM
Second of all social-design-consepts and vampirefo are working on cwm which you can flash in a locked bootloader.
so go subsribe their threads.
Thank me if i this has helped you
... first of all Google is your friend. Here is the official Dell unlocked boot loader for this device. http://opensource.dell.com/releases/Venue_8_7840_Merrifield/developer-edition/ Not sure why this devices is not more popular at this point. Oh well... Good luck.
The bootloader is only unlocked to the point that it supports unsigned kernel images (boot, recovery, fastboot, etc.) The stage-one bootloader in the firmware is still locked so it would be difficult to get grub2 or the windows bootloader installed.
Been combing through the Intel Board Support Packages and have determined that there are two bios classes of Intel MID (mobile internet devices) iafw/osii and iafw / uefi .
The iafw / uefi would be easier to boot an alternative os on
The iafw / osii looks to be next to impossible to boot anything other than android on
I think that the yoga has gotten some foothold in this department and some of the Chinese tablets have too. I am not really interested in windows 10 but Linux could be interesting.

Could you not just put whatever you want in the boot partition? Once the bootloader hands off to the "boot" kernel, I would think you could have some other binary instead, such as grub.
considering MS has already released Win10 on a couple Android devices (both ARM and x86 based), for free, and is planning on more, I'm sure they'll probably be working with one of their biggest OEMs (Dell) to do the same on this.
Well, running some arbitrary binary is likely possible, but Windows support is a bit less likely. There are things Windows needs from the boot firmware, like ACPI tables, which I don't think we have on this device.
Install android on a windows dell venue 10 5050
I am a noob and need some help.
Is it possible to install Android on the Dell Venue 10 5050 windows devices ? I like the hardware and the android version has been discontinued. I can get my hands on the windows version ( win 10 ) though. Is it possible for me to install Android on this tablet ? I have been trying out the android-x86 project but have not succeeded yet.
As the title says, Is there a way to load android onto an Lg Lancet running windows 8.1? My son picked this phone out and it was a cheaper phone to get so I said yes. I use android phones and this is our first Windows phone. I have been able to get the phone to do everything I want it to when it comes to tracking what my son does to help keep him safe, but in most cases i can not use the same software my wife and I use on our android devices. So...with that said, I would love to load android onto the phone and still have it working.
Forgot to mention that this is a Verizon Wireless phone.

Does this build have project astoria in it ?
Didn't work for me, all went through but the phone got stuck in the Nokia Logo, I had to do emergency recovery and flash stock rom again. Do you still have the 10.0.10586.36 ffu?
Why do we need this? Is it not just possible to follow the instructions on WPinternals?

But doesn't 920 have 1 Gig of RAM? So it should get the upgrade, maybe later on, like these germans say: http://www.computerbild.de/artikel/cb-Tipps-Handy-Windows-10-mobile-Lumias-Update-14148579.html

I really hope that the 1GB phones will get WM 10, it is running fine on my 920. But I would like to make a statement to Microsoft, they promised WM10 and now...
When I look at the official website, (microsoft.com/nl-nl/windows/windows-10-specifications) (Select the mobile tab)
This is being told:
Phones and devices compatible for WM10:
Lumia 1520, 930, 640, 640XL, 730, 735, 830, 532, 535, 540, 635 1GB, 636 1GB, 638 1GB, 430, 435, BLU Win HD w510u, BLU Win HD LTE x150q, MCJ Madosma Q501
So if it is true, can we port any other up-to date OS to the not supported phones? Sailfish would be the ultimate payback.
I can't seem to download the file, it just jams. I can download any other file from Mega but not this one. Do you possibly have another file, maybe the 1 you posted is corrupt.
Thanks
I know w10m is the latest and all the goodies it has, but on my 920 and in my father's 820 doesn't work too good. I'm thinking we could get the wp8.1 update 2 to get the keyboard support, but I can't get it through the insider program. Could we get it from a phone that has is and create a rom for our phone?

I have that one installed in my 920 and in my father's 820. Battery life sucks and sometimes you have to reset the phone by pressing power + vol-, and calendar doesn't allow you to see more than one month at the same time. I don't see any advantage in w10m to make me move from wp8.1 other than the bluetooth keyboard (and selfiestick) support. That's why I was asking for the wp8.1 u2 since that one introduced the bt kb support. I've seen your post at htcmania, I might try your rom, wiping everything and doing a clean install, but from what I heard, battery life would be worse than wp8.1
Sadly bootloop no way to get this installed! :/ tried both roms! SUCKS all that time I spend extracting those files....

Can someone upload a W10 ROM for the Lumia 920, with unlocked loader and root access. The one on this thread flashes on the phone without any errors using windows phone internals, but goes into a boot loop with the Nokia logo..
I retried the flash and did a hard reset using the details below, after it went into the Nokia Boot loop. The phone reset in about 10-15 minutes with TWO reloads and started working with Windows 10 Great. Updates downloading.....
Factory reset
With the phone turned off press and hold the Volume DOWN key and then connect the charger.
An exclamation mark should now appear.
Now press the following buttons in the exact order: Volume UP, Volume DOWN, POWER then Volume DOWN
This will now fully reset the device and restore it to factory defaults........
Hello XDA Forums,
I have been a guest on the website for a while now when looking for android knowledge and I usually grasp a good amount of whatever I am trying to accomplish. However, the issue I am currently having I feel is considered IMPOSSIBLE to fix and I want to confirm that by this community.
Phone: Blu
Model: NEO XL N110U
Android build version: 6.0
Custom build version (It’s a stock a downloaded, ill explain in a sec)” BLU_N110U_V10_GENERIC_MARSHMALLOW 05-08-2016 16:30
What happened is that about a year ago or so I updated the android version from lollipop to marshmallow using the OTA update (which is the wireless update). Worst decision ever as I found out that this update gave me 4 specific viruses that sends my information over to a Chinese server. Here are links on the virus:
https://www.droid-life.com/2016/11/15/blu-security/
https://blog.malwarebytes.com/cybercrime/2016/11/mobile-menace-monday-adups-old-and-new/
https://android.gadgethacks.com/new...be-affected-by-adups-chinese-spyware-0175014/
With this problem, I thought “I can just root my device and delete the files… right”? I never rooted a device before, but I have jail broken iphones, modded psps, and ds so I felt like this would be easy……Turns out its impossible if you already updated to that wireless update with marshellow. I also tried unlocking bootloader and that failed super hard as well! Here is what I tried:
1. Tried Kingroot app – failed
2. Tried kingroot on pC – failed
3. Went into developer options and enabled usb debugging and oem unlocking to TRY and unlock the bootloader. – that part worked……HOWEVER
4. Went into the recovery and choice reboot to bootloader. Then connected my Blu phone to my PC, went into Command prompt and typed, “fastboot oem unlock” (I believe I had to download fastboot and adb tools first). – This was painful for me. It gave me the option to unlock the bootloader using the up and down volume buttons. I need to press “Volume up” on my phone to confirm the OEM unlock……..HOWEVER THAT HAS BEEN COMPLETELY DISABLED. The buttons work, but when I need to confirm the oem unlock, it doesn’t allow me to do this. THIS I BELIEVE HAS BEEN PURPOSELY DONE.
5. I downloaded a stock version of my phone’s rom but at a lower android number (5.1) and tried to flash it to the phone using SP Flash tools. – Failed. It would stay illuminated black and the intro sound would come on but I wouldn’t see anything. I looked into that and I believe that is because there is something called version binding where if I update the version build, I can’t downgrade to use the same exploit.
6. Since the phone was bricked, I wanted to try to bring it back to life by downloading the stock rom for my phone at the same virus build version I’m at now and flash it to the phone. – It worked with viruses and all.
7. I Then thought, “Can’t I use open the rom file and delete the viruses I want, then flash it to the phone?” So I tried that by using mtk extractor which allowed me to open the system.img file for the stock rom which contains the android data. From there I went into the apps folder and deleted the 4 virus apps. Then I packaged the system.img back together into one file and then used that system.img when I used sp flash tool to flash the rom onto the phone. – It was stuck on the logo……I can still access the recovery fine and still doesn’t allow me to oem unlock.
This is where I have given up. At this point, I feel like I would need to learn more about the system.img file and what it looks for in the beginning. I just want to fool it into booting without those apps. I know there is something stopping it from booting because when I go into the recovery part and select the option to do a “root integrity check” it tells me those specific apps are missing. Is there any way to change the root integrity check to not look for those apps?
So I know this a lot of information but I need to write this down for all the steps I toke. I hope that this thread can help anyone with a Blu Neo XL device come to some information. If I can confirm from this forum that there is nothing that can be done. I feel then a law suit with Blu is in order and everyone should throw out there compromised phones. I have seen numerous other posts on this subject and so far NO ONE HAS ANSWERED EVEN ONCE. One pore guy had to keep bumping his thread of months until he gave up; atleast tell me its not possible! Here are the link I saw on this from here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/help/tried-to-root-sort-blu-neo-xl-t3559702
Here are my main questions:
Is it possible to access the root (either via pc with command prompt or linux with terminal or even on the device itself) without rooting or unlocking the bootloader (since both seem to be impossible).
Can you extract a system.img file, modify it, then put it back to get together to flash it to a device without unlocking bootloader?
Infact can you modify any part of the rom or .imgs and flash it to spflash tools? (Or maybe I was doing wrong?)
Is there anyway to figure out how to modify the tamper bit if I have to find a way to get around the virus bug on my device that doesn’t allow me to use the “Volume up” button to confirm that I want to unlock the bootloader? (I’m not even sure if this phone has that, I just saw that for this oneplus and thought maybe it can be on all phones in a different way?) Here is a link on that-
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/development/mod-reset-unlock-tamper-bit-t2820912
The goal is get rid of the virus that sends my data back to Chinese servers. Also, the goal is to get an answer from the community here to put this to rest.
If you need any information on this or want me to upload anything please let me know.
Thank you for your time!
Bump as I need hope.
I understand people may not have this phone but I need some sort of reply to confirm that this isn't possible. I want this thread to be the first post anyone sees if they type in "Blu Neo XL" for rooting purposes.

Hey man, I didnt read through your entire post. But can't you just downgrade the version to one that is possible to root?
Or you can also get another phone that does have root as an option. Also, I don't think you should bump your own threads. Just wait it out, or ask in other threads for help.
Edit: Oh Man, I didn't even notice someone responded to this! Awesome.
It says in the rules to ask here. So I decided to ask here espcially since this phone doesn't have its own dedicated forum. I got a new phone about a month ago and its pretty good so far.
This is more of a lost cause but I bring this up just in cause other people get affected. I believe the Blu company had to pay the Justice department for this so they got away with it and thats no big deal now of days. lol

Also for those of you out there suffering, the above statement is not possible because the newer versions of Android OS have "version binding" so downgrading to an OS that is lower that way you upgraded to wont allow the phone to get pass the bios or whatever the android bios recovery start name is. (I don't remember right now) Even if you mod the recovery or bios file.
So here it is almost a year later from you writing this post and I have found myself in the same predicament you were once in and was hoping there was answers somewhere, but from the looks of it I am guessing I'm better off just breaking this phone in half and getting myself a new, virus free, root-able phone. Am I correct?
