[Q] Load android on an LG Lancet - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

As the title says, Is there a way to load android onto an Lg Lancet running windows 8.1? My son picked this phone out and it was a cheaper phone to get so I said yes. I use android phones and this is our first Windows phone. I have been able to get the phone to do everything I want it to when it comes to tracking what my son does to help keep him safe, but in most cases i can not use the same software my wife and I use on our android devices. So...with that said, I would love to load android onto the phone and still have it working.
Forgot to mention that this is a Verizon Wireless phone.

No there isn't. They use completely different base bootloader and the windows bootloader is locked down tighter then for knox

I have been reading about dual booting, but I can not find anything about the Lancet. If I can not load Android by itself, is it possible to dual boot the phone?

[Q] Android on an iPhone

OK, this is possibly the weirdest question I'm ever going to ask but let's get to it. Yes this relates to an iPhone but it is primarily an issue with the fact that it has a strange version of android on it and I don't know where else to ask this question. I've checked, it is not a weird version of iOS, it is a fully fledged version of android that just draws resources i.e. pictures, thumbnails, status bar, etc from the iPhone. I'll start with some background information.
OK, so my friend bought this iPhone 4s from another friend whose brother had completely screwed up the phone by modding it with a Chinese/Japanese modified android. My friend thought he could fix it but apparently not so he asked me to fix it for him. I check the settings and the version of android is V2G.12.03.12, I googled it and it came up with a Chinese/Japanese forum for modding iPhones with android, at least that's what it looked like. This mod has removed iPhone DFU and recovery mode, iTunes can no longer interface with the device and the home button now functions as a back button, the app store has been replaced with google play and the apps on the device are android apps, some of them are in Chinese/Japanese which I can't read so I just avoid them. My friend wants me to get rid of whatever version of android this is and replace it with iOS 7.
What I've done so far
Alright, as soon as I got the phone, I thought I should try DFU mode which is like an extreme recovery mode where you can flash different versions of iOS using iTunes but after trying a few times to enter DFU mode, I quickly realised it didn't exist on this phone anymore lol. So I digging in the settings of the device where I figured out that it wasn't just some modified version of iOS that emulates android, I found out that the android version was called V2G.12.03.12 and so I googled it. This was a fruitless exercise as all the results were in a language I can't comprehend. Then I thought why not try and enter recovery mode (android version) but didn't know how that would work with an iPhone so I installed ROM Toolbox Pro which is how I realised that this device wasn't rooted. Soo, since I didn't know how I was going to root it without recovery mode, I thought I'd try some 1-click root methods. I installed Kingo Android ROOT which seemed to be working at first, it was installing the device driver and then I dropped it while attempting to leave my room and when I came back it told me there was no device connected which was a major pain in the arse. However I concluded that the device driver was successfully installed as my computer was now able to enter the internal storage of the iPhone but iTunes still doesn't detect the device. This lead me to believe that the device can't be rooted because of an issue with the android version. So, after discovering this I thought I'd try ABD to try to boot into recover mode but since I've never had to use it before, I have to download it and apparently it comes with the Android SDK bundle. So I was downloading it when all of a sudden, when it reached 479/480 mb, it told me there was a network error, so I thought alright... let's try this again but alas, everything I try to download from that website gives me a network error right before the download is completed.
So at this point, I'm completely at a loss as to what I should do now, I need to find a way to root the device and to enter recovery mode so I can see what I can do in terms of some how flashing iOS 7 on the device. Please help me lol, there is £10 at stake here so help please ! And a reputation to upkeep . Thanks for any help that can be given. If this question is in the wrong place please help me move it, if this question is not appropriate for this forum could someone direct me to an appropriate forum to ask this on lol.

Have you tried consulting Google on how to reinstall DFU? I heard it is inside the .ipsw file but I'm not sure about how to put it on your device.
Also, try Google Translate for the websites.

Ah, thank you. I wasn't aware you could reinstall DFU, googling it right now. I'll see how it goes in terms of getting it on the device. Thanks
BUMP, I couldn't find any way to reinstall DFU however I found iOS 7.0.4 for the iPhone 4s but I'm not sure how I'm going to install it without being jailbroken or without DFU mode/iTunes. Help please.

Uh, uh, if it was possible for this to be done, it must be possible to reverse it, I'm going to keep trying and it's not my iPhone, it belongs to a friend so I can't just buy a new one lol. And the android isn't in English, no point in keeping it.

[Q] Android 5.0 on Lumia 930

Is this even possible? anyone can show me the way to enlightment ?
Can you put android 5.0 on a lumia 930?
Obviously not, since it's running a Windows OS
omg so obvious, how could i miss? trololol
seriously now, can anyone, a real developer or someone who knows rooting and phone unlocking to respond?
or better: is windows bound, written in the rams so you can not replace it with another os?

1. From what I know, Windows phones usually come with bootloaders that cannot be unlocked, so good luck trying to unlock it.
2. Windows is not written in RAM, RAM gets reset every time you turn off your phone. Your phone will boot up from a ROM before accessing RAM.
3. If you really want to boot Android, the only way is to load Android OS onto the RAM from a different boot location. It's called dual boot. Google it.

Attempting to Root a Nexus 6

My Nexus 6 has presented me with an interesting challenge. During my attempts/process to root my phone, inevitably, one must reboot your phone. And as the reboot takes place the phone always goes into the "Charge" mode and not the "File Transfer" mode that the phone was in as it began the root process. I'm at a cross in the road because I cannot complete the root process. The only option that has presented itself to me is to restart the phone. And while my phone works properly, it halts the root process. I have just purchased another USB cable that charges and transfers data/syncs to cover that question. Any hints would be appreciated. I have had this phone unlocked using Chainfire's Nexus Root Toolkit a while back. It worked flawlessly. I've not really been interested in a custom ROM/Kernel etc. but in continuing to research this area. I'd like to try and unlock then root the phone again. Any hints would be appreciated
If your phone got the January update from Google, they patched a ton of the "exploits" that previously were/can be used to root Android devices. These were pushed out to the Nexus line by Google and made available for OTA by wireless vendors otherwise. This could be the issue you're running into now. If you haven't updated, then I think you just may need to find an alternative rooting method, as the one you tried may not be 100% compatible or is missing some sort of command to direct the device to go into file transfer/download mode.

I really appreciate your perspective. And without a doubt I'll look around and see where this goes. Just reading about all the work that has taken place since I purchased the phone, the landscape is a lot more enticing.

Old Nexus 7 2. Gen with lock screen

Hi, when the Nexus 7 2. Gen came out in 2013, I bought it and used for 3 years until 2016. Unfortunately, I remember I dropped the device and the display cracked and made it impossible to use, and because a new one was 50 Euros back then, I thought it wouldn't be worth repairing it.
Now in 2020 I plugged in a OTG mouse, charged it and tried to find some funny stuff I could have stored like pictures from 4 years ago. However, there's a lock screen with password I have to prompt in which I can't remember anymore. The device is running Android 5.*, but I don't know which one for sure, there is no "Emergency call" to try this lock screen camera bypass bug.
The device has its bootloader unlocked (an unlocked lock is shown when I power on the device), and I rooted it 4/5 years ago so I could use my PS3 controller via OTG (This needed root permissions for some reason). I have also noticed that the tablet is still connected to my home WLAN connection.
Is there any chance to bypass the lock screen and/or recover data from it?
Edit: I managed to enter recovery mode but I can only wipe the whole device here, no backup. My android version is 6.0.1.
If you can establish an USB-connection between phone and PC
Code:
adb devices
then you can retain the data that you want to have by means of ADB, too.
Example:
Code:
adb pull /storage/emulated/0/DCIM C:\DCIM

Hi, maybe you could try to flash an custom recovery to it, since the bootloader is unlocked. After that it'll be a lot easier to delete the lockscreen-password and as well backup the data from it.

This sounds good, you mean something like TWM? Is there anything to consider, do I just sideload this thing via adb?
EDIT: Thanks man, I did it, removed the password file and just got access. Feels like going 4 years back in time.

Question I need help please…

Hey guys I’ve been here once or twice before but it’s been a while. I have some in the ass and I need your help please. I’ve been working at unlocking the boot loader on my Motorola Moto G power 2021 for two months now. The reasoning is for that I have no PC nor desktop rather one of my old android phones (Motorola Moto G7 Optimo) That I have had, Trying to figure out how to unlock my boot loader on my Motorola Moto G power 2021. I managed to unlock the boot loader finally but now I’m having issues with trying to install TWRP. My question is is that is there another custom room that I can install with two androids connected to USB – C double cable? I’ve been waiting for a long time to get my phone routed, please help and thanks
If you have one android rooted with magisk, there is an ADB/Fastboot Magisk module that might work for that, but I've never actually tried it. But I'm pretty sure one would have to be rooted. Another option might be to install linux on your phone. I have manjaro linux installed on mine but, again, it is limited without root because of selinux policy. With root, that can be disabled.
I also just noticed adb and fastboot can be installed in termux without root with
pkg install android-tools
You might try that.
If it workS, then YES, you can root without pc. Just 2 Android phones and a doubLe type c cable.

Don't install the TWRP we have now. Just boot it to use it with adb shell commands or a mouse. If you install it you'll get a bootloop, Dude says. I had to use it to extract my kernel for rooting.
Aaaannd the story thickens…. I ended up unlocking the boot loader with the two android phones and a USB – C type. However when I tried to flash Magisk, it flip my phone into a boot loop. Now, Me being the rookie that I am and trying to progress far too quickly, I Have relocked my boot loader and now I have a message which says no valid operating system can be found, will not boot.
Can someone please put me out of my misery and just go ahead and say that I am screwed?
Try to unlock your bootlloader againDamn I can't even type in here. Fgn xda is throwing up an ad over the typing area every time I make a cursor. Ok it finally stopped as I took a screenshot.
Now why on earth are you people trying to relock your bootloaders? I've rarely heard of such a thing and only to try to claim warranty, but I've been here for 2 days and already found 2 people with relocked (possible) bricks on this phone. And there aren't even many people here yet. What gives?
Don't worry yet. I think you're in better shape than the other guy.
If you still have your unlock email try to unlock it again with the same code. If you don't, or that doesn't work run get_unlock_data again and request another code.
BTW, I've never done this twice. So it might not work. If it doesn't, there is another option. Just come back and tell us how it went.
What carrier is your phone?

so yeah I tried it again but the boot loader is still locked however I think the partitions are messed up after I was trying to flash magic and it fell right into a boot loop. Somehow it has actually gotten better and not continuously boot looping I can stay in fast boot but it won’t burn into anything else or power off unless it runs out of battery. But I do have the same code but it’s not taking hit it because OEM unlocking on developer mode is still locked.

That used to happen to me a lot in the olden days when I used Windows and would manually type the code. I never know if they are Os or zeros. Now that I use linux I just copy/paste the code quick and easy. If you know that phone with that carrier can be unlocked, keep trying. In Android I know you can copy/paste from the terminal. I hear some carriers make you wait so long before unlocking too, although I've never had a phone with that problem. A good friend told me just the other day he had a Boost phone that they made him wait 6 months to unlock.
As far as plans, I got this phone by accident and dropped and broke the screen the 1st day I had it, before the case arrived. When the case arrived, it was a case for the G9 Power, which I thought this phone was when I ordered it. So, next month I will order the G9 Power since I already have a case and screen protector for it. My last phone was the G8 Stylus (sofiap) and this "Power" just doesn't have the same great battery life. I also had the G7 Power (ocean) and it had excellent battery life. I meant to get the G9 Power for the 6000 mAh battery, but with it's higher resolution screen it's probably no better than this Power. I think all "Power"s should have a 720P screen for the better battery life. or at least a switch to select the resolution you want like on my Galaxy S7.
This phone needs some ROMs though, so if I can find the time, I will do my best to give it a couple, if luck is on my side. Maybe a Resurrection Remix and a crDroid or Bliss. But really, it's whatever I can get to build, so maybe none. Lol.

I think there's still hope for you. I'm trying to figure out which stock firmware version your phone came with. If we can figure that out, I think you can flash and boot it even with a locked bootloader. What splash screen and boot animation does it have? Is it tracphone? I see a US Cellular version. When you boot to the bootloader what does the 1st white line say on the lower left? The BL line?

Yeah, I hear there is some trick to do it. Maybe in the new powershell (I've never tried it), but highlighting some text and right clicking to copy doesn't work in a command prompt, or it didn't 6 years ago. Did they add that functionality?

Moto devices can be finicky.
You should be able to flash stock firmware with fastboot, but on windows rsd lite or the newer lsma work more reliably.
On windows mfastboot sometime works when standard fastboot.exe doesn't.
Linux may work better.
USB debugging doesn't effect fastboot mode, it's an adb function.
Edit:for locked bootloader
Booting stock .img may work for some devices

Yes, but I was going to have him run
adb shell getprop | grep build.version.base
to figure out the software channel he needs. With the output I could find the exact build he is/was running on lolinet. That's hoping his bootloop is booting far enough for adb to enable though. adb shell wont work from stock recovery and adb shell from the quamp twrp we're using returns guamp device info. Wtf?

On Linux fastboot seems to be flawless. I'm surprised to hear that it has trouble on Windows. But I think he's running fastboot from another android., which is so cool. Opens a door for root with no pc.

My Moto G power of 2021 is the one that I unlocked the boot loader with the code off of the Motorola site and then I tried to mess with Magis and it ended up boot looping so I tried to lock it again thinking that would help somehow and that’s where I’m at on that one. On the Moto G7 optimo I haven’t gotten anywhere with that one yet however I did get I haven't gotten anywhere with that one yet however I did get the Unlock data and put it on Motorola site and it said it can’t be unlocked. Also sorry but I’m new to this so I don’t understand about the splash screen and boot animation so please let me know what I need to do to give you that information.
Now with the phone to phone android to android, are used the Google app BUGJAEGER 3.0-full (164). Are used the command: fastboot oem unlock <unlock code> . And it unlocked right away.

Well Damn....now I have one less way to insult Windows. Hey @sd_shadow , you would sure know...can you flash and boot the original firmware that came on your phone (same software channel) with a locked bootloader? Seems like you could but I've never tried it.
And @Bry2025 do you have USB Debugging enabled in Developer Options?

I just got a laptop and I’m going to attempt to use the command prompt and copy and paste to see if I can get the unlock code for my G7 optimo but on the Moto G power of 2021, I did have all of it unlocked but now since my dumbass locked the boot loader again I can’t get back on the initial platform and get developer tools. If I can get the OEM unlocking toggled back on I probably can unlock it reflash the firmware and boot my phone again

Just to recap, my Motorola Moto G power 2021 is Bootloader locked after Magisk Installation failure. I have messed around with it and have it stuck in Fastboot Mode after it was stuck in bootloop. Some progress but the boot loader is locked again because of a error of mine and now it will not take my unlock code that I used before. Mind you, I did all of this between two android phones and an app called BUGAEGER That is available on Google play
