Your help needed.. - Moto E Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I am coming from another mobile community and i personally don't have this device but my friend has this device and he asking me for OTA update of Moto E and i know it's not released yet Officially (I know soak test is available..!! )..
I know how to unlock bootloader, install recovery and rooting stuffs but can you plz tell me which Custom ROM best for this Moto E..
Are you guys recommend any Custom Kernel with any ROM or Sock Kernel works well..?
Conditions..
1) Should be on Android 5.1.1
2) good Battery life and tons of customizing option would be great..
3) No any major bug like force close or lag..
That's it..:fingers-crossed:
Looking forward for your help ASAP..:good:

If u r asking about kernel, the only Custum kernel on development on this device is ShockGenMod, u can use that but it has some minor bugs...
If u want custom ROM i prefer CM12.1 to thats ROMs Stability and bugfreeness, another one u want tons of Customization i prefer AICP ROM it has every customization....

As I said in another thread, I am really hoping so, but it all comes down to whether our devs have the time, energy, and willingness to do it. There are no more official releases for us, only unofficial ones done by awesome individual devs from the goodness of their heart. So let's continue to hope, and continue to support them throughout their efforts
Can't download Gapps
I'm interested in trying your ROM, however when I try to click to download the "Minimal Gapps". I'm simply sent to a login page. Can't locate the gapps anywhere.

just try searching for other universal GApps or download them from the slimroms webpage
Alright. I'll give the Paranoid Android Nano 4.4.4 gapps a try.
Did some searching for "universal gapps", and didn't find much in the way of ones that specifically said "universal", but the Paranoid Android ones say this should work on all custom roms. If anyone has any different suggestion, please let me know, otherwise I'll just give these a try. Thanks.

Will you wait???????? the ROM is not booting meaning it does not start up meaning you can't even use it. Wait like the rest of us until the OP fixes that issue then uploads it so everyone can try it.
We are all anxious to try lollipop just as much you are but this a fairly new android version and even some up-to-date flagship devices still don't have even a beta version so just chill out and relax.
ya sure dude lets wait & c
yes bro all are eagerly waiting for lollipop....

What new feature of slim launcher bros ?
camera
bro after i flashed my phone to slimkat rom my camera clarity seems to be dull but its good in stock rom can anyone help me plz
Hello
i have a lot of problems in this rom .
google play and explorer don't open
and i can't make a password for the phone
and there a lot of that
is there any Resolve for this problem ??
Did you do a clean install (wipe data, cache, dalvik cache)? Did you restore any system data or apps with adb or titanuim etc.? Lastly, are you sure your copy of the ROM is good and wasn't currupted in any way while downloading? Things like that can cause the problems you're having.

Ok. Now very few Custom ROMs support are available. You have CM12.1 bt it has some bugs.
Personally, I would recommend you not to unlock your bootloader and not to flash any Custom ROM since there are many bugs now in them.
After few days when your warranty became finished, flash any ROM you want. Till then there will be some stable lollipop ROM available

but blisspop has some grt features i like such as ambient display..and those many quick toggles.. and i read somewhere that the cm12 cant record videos.. ?
Hi Adarsh
Yes, I would recommend to unlock BootLoader, and root (If you like to use root specific apps). In short, you get more admin privileges after rooting which you can't in stock. There are noob tutorials in General section, check them out.
And about custom Rom, presently the best is CM 12 which is completely stable with no FC's. Been using it for a month and no complains. And also few days ago CM 12.1 (Unofficial) rolled out. Just wait for a few weeks until it becomes stable.
Hope it helps,
Albert

Yes CM12 cant record videos but devs are working hard to fix this issue but all major isaue like Battery drain, havy ram usage, Fcs all have fixed within a week. So this bug will fixed soon. And some gallery bug there like duplicate thumbnails at gallery but dev has given flashable fix patch, so its upto you, if u want fully buggless rom then you have to wait for CM12 M1 snapshot release as now its in nightly stage ot will contain the bugs...

No but every time u flash ota update u have to flash that kernel with it otherwise it will flash stock CM12 kernel,
In my thought CM12 kernel is best opposed to any custume kernsl out there becoz i faced freezes on playing havy games multi tab browsing etc

I installed CM 12, GAPPS Pico, and basic social media apps. Still I have 1.55 GB internal memory left!!
Earlier while I was using soak test, I had only ~650-700 MB internal storage. [Had all stock apps updated]
And about 540 MB free RAM while system idle.
Hit the Thanks button rather thank typing. :good:

Gretings, I have CM 12.1 30-03 build and I recommend it, yes, it has some bugs like random FCs when you open contacts, but almost daily a new build is up, so its matter of one or two days for a bug to be fixed, but, it has a large list of options to modify/personalisation of your Moto E, and if you do this, use Alpha Kernel, it increases the performance and solve some bugs, like video recording, so, in conclusion, I recommend that you unlock your bootlader, root your device, flash a new recovery and flash a ROM & Kernel, CM 12.1 its now usable for daily use.

Just look at the development thread man. Don't just ask for the stable rom link. By the way one of the stable custom rom is the that we have for grand 2 is cm12.1..
S3 neo port rom for grand is 100% stable rom

That's because you did'nt look throughtly bro..Well for your info this is the only website to get custom ROM and not anywhere else. Just so you know there must be a small bug in every ROM even for stable & stock ROM. So next time don't expect for a stable ROM with no bugs and ask for it. Just look at the development thread man & that's my advice.
You dont even like stock firmware (assuming of that since you want to install custom rom), so why expecting perfection from custom roms?

Because stock firmware have perfection i.e no bugs..... n if there r issues in any custom ROM like front cam not working, SIM 2 not detecting etc (as I checked in the threads) den why should anyone install these ROMs...
I hope u got my point bro....
Please try S5-S6 style H6 Eition[4.4.4]. Its the best with little or no bug. Its whats i am currently using now. everything works perfectly

If you're using corvus, then the AOSP R version is for you since that it is for AOSP roms, if you use stock MIUI A11 then MIUI R is best, if you're on MIUI Android 10 then MIUI Q is best, if you're on a custom rom A10 then R0 is best.

And what does it differ from checking and not checking it.

It depends on the recovery you're using, I use Orange Fox recovery and don't need to uncheck or check anything, I am actually on Corvus os 16.6 Paradox and using agni kernel 9.8 AOSP R. So, it depends on the recovery you're using, but mostly you won't need to do that.

Don't wanna really disappoint you, but all of these videos are just fake or not even close to resembling the reality. Don't flash anything that they tell you to, I tried rooting and overclocking the CPU and GPU, flashing custom kernels, dtbo files, modules...etc, and nothing really gave me that high performance jump, it was only about 5% fps boost and that's it, it was not that big of a difference, so I would advise you to just stick with Corvus and Agni Kernel for now.

Hey guys i just wanted to know if corvus 16.6 does support any kinds of kernels or it only has limited kernel? because recently i was upgrading to corvus 16.7 but when i flash the kernel blink bootloop occurs so i format all of my data to get rid of it. That's why i wanted to know corvus 16.6 if it does support any kinds of kernel
