Alright, I don't really know what happened or what I did, but something bad happened. To begin with, I rooted my phone with Stump and that went fine. After a month or so my phone started to lock itself out and sometimes not unlock. This bug, I don't know what it was, was probably from one of the roms. I uninstalled and removed all the roms and "unrooted" my phone. When I try to root my phone again, it sees the phone as unsupported. I did a hard reset/ I even used towelroot and that was bad. My phone also can't be used on my computer because it won't read it as an LG device with a driver. I've hard reset several times and tried many things. What I know for sure is that one rom or something didn't get removed. For example, I had an emoji switcher rom and I still have Google's emoji's instead of the default LG after reset. I can also lock my phone by double tapping the top left corner, which was another rom. This is all when "unrooted"
Can someone help me fix this? I don't have a warranty on the phone and SuperSU doesn't let me do anything on it.

after removing root, you need to flash back to stock to get it working again with the exploit.

You have to flash back to stock via the link below. Once you Unroot it is the only way of getting root back. Plus it is always nice to know how to return to stock before someone starts rooting, flashing roms etc... so when you get into this positions you already know the solution.
Edit: Make sure you do not take the System update after you flash back to 10b otherwise you will not be able to root any way.

Thanks for the Help. I got my phone back to stock. I don't actually plan on rerooting it for a while. But, do you know why my phone won't take the system update? I tried to and an error appeared.

Did you get back to stock via the method I supplied? It has to be done that way and then check in your "about phone" and verify you are on "10b". From here the phone should take the 11c update.

Did you disable anything ?
If you returned to stock v10b via the .kdz file, you will not get the OTA because your are on an earlier version of v10b than the phone released with.
You are in a perfect situation to flash bumped TWRP recovery and then the v11c modem, system, and boot images, effectively updating you just like the OTA would have.
If you require the OTA to self-apply, then you need to restore using the .TOT method.

How can I flash a newer version such as 11c(Or upcoming Android L)? Without .tot
You can't. You kdz back to keep from getting the update so you can root and bump and flash roms. You tot to get to the right version to take the update
Once L is released OTA, our noble developers will make it possible for us who have root and recovery to flash the OTA components safely, retaining root and custom recovery.
We hope.
Why would you want to take the current locked OTA?
If you TOT you can still root. Before you take the update.
Hey everyone,
I was able to root my LG G3 with the help of the XDA forms so I figured maybe someone could help me out here. I am running the STOCK Verizon Rom that came with the phone. I wanted to know if there is a customer kernal I can install to improve battery life and/or if anyone knows the good Tricker Mod settings to set up so the battery life improves, that would be helpful as well.
Thanks for the help everyone.

You will need to install TWRP to install a custom kernel.
I am running Jasmine ROM 8.0 with the Skydragon 4.2 Kernel with great battery life.
Great. Thank you. I was able to install twrp and installed sky dragon
Kernel to my Verizon stock Rom. Seems to be doing just fine ☺

Can I ask what method you used to root after 24B update? I have tried a few different methods I found on XDA and all of them just hang at the part where it should push root to the phone. Thanks.

Besides using the root method @quadjacks linked to below, just wanted to make sure you know that in order to root 24B, you have to come from a string of at least two OTAs. In other words, if you at any time flashed the 23C KDZ, then after you take the 24B OTA, you won't be able to root the phone, at least that's our experience.
You will be able to root it (not using the one-click but the one @quadjacks links to) if you flash the 12B KDZ, then OTA to 23C, then OTA to 24B.

For most people who have tried and reported back, including myself several times and with all the root methods I could think of, that didn't work, but a couple of people have reported being able to root after OTAing from 23C.

I'm aware of that, too - I posted the link to it, but I haven't had the inclination to flash it and try rooting after. I won't be surprised since the first method I mentioned in the previous message, flashing the 23C KDZ and taking the OTA, then trying to root, didn't work myself and several others that it won't work for me with flashing the 24B KDZ directly, but I'm just speculating. I'm sure I'll attempt it again when I have a need to reset to completely stock unrooted again unless by that time I'm in too much of a hurry to take another new OTA that may come and try to root that first.

I was able to root after flashing the 24B KDZ. The root.bat did not work (hung on the installing root part). But I was able to do option 2 and manually push the files and install root with one minor change. The first time I ran the Send_Command to push root it hung, I did a ctrl-C on it then ran it again right after and it went through. Then I did the send_command reboot and the phone rebooted and was rooted when it came up. I did this a couple of times and had the same results every time, first send_command would hang and I had to break out of it (ctrl-c) the send_commands after that worked fine. Not sure why that is but that is what worked for me. Just wanted to share in case anyone is having the same problem.
And then after rooting 24B, how to install TWRP??? I tried and got the Security Error message. Help would be appreciated.

Just to present another option, in the Play Store, search for:
Code:
autorec VS985
It'll install TWRP v2.8.6.x and downgrade your bootloader, which you can then update TWRP to the latest from within the "old" version.

Need to check if I have the 24B...... and Thanks!!
I spent the greater part of the evening trying to root my LG G3 VS985 unsuccessfully, but I don't recall if it is the 24B. I got it off eBay to upgrade my current RazrHD which is hopelessly underpowered - but it is rooted, and didn't want to lose my unlimited data plan on VZW. Need to mark this thread for all the helpful comments.
The methods of rooting I tried were the One-Click, both the gui and the CLI script with similar results of hanging trying to "see" the device, I tried PurpleDrake, but I think it is for a different LG or android version, and there was one other method that I got from a link either here on XDA or another android forum, but all seemed to have the same problem - once you connect the phone, it initially tries to connect to the device, but never succeeds, just keeps you waiting for the root push to start, but it never does. I was using a Win-7 PC and laptop, switching back and forth to see if I could get one of them to work........ Of course, I have the developer option enabled and turned on the USB debugging. I really like this LG G3 and want to get this thing rooted!!
The other root method I tried was ioroot; I checked my folders. Further reading seems to indicate I may be SOL unless I want to wait for someone to figure it out; oh, yeah, and I tried towelroot as well, but it only tells me my device is not supported........I plan to try one more root method - stumproot, and see if it can bruteforce it. If not, will be a sadder day.......

Ok-Full specs on my LG G3 that I want to root....
Running android 5.0.1
Build: LRX21Y
Software Version: VS985 23C
Went back and looked at some of the info and it can be confusing; some root progs need certain version of android running, on a certain set of builds and proper software versions........ enough to make you want to start drinking...... Going to go back one more time and see what I can do to organize all this disparate info and make some more sense out of it. On the plus side, since I have the 32GB version/model, it has 3GB RAM which I confirmed, and even though I have a ton of junky bloat stuff running that I can't currently stop, the phone is running like a champ.
Doesnt work

I used autorec to flash twrp on my 24b LP VZW G3. That was successful. Then booted to recovery...made a backup... then flashed twrp 2870 img, then booted recovery... then booted system and it went to LG bootlogo with Security Error message.
I'd really love to get this straightened out if possible. Would appreciate any advice and help.

I apologize for the misinformation! I realized earlier after reading what some others had said that in all the testing I had done regarding 24B that I had actually NOT run autorec on 24B, or at least not *just* autorec. To fix your phone, download and flash JasmineROM 8.0. If you felt adventurous, all you really need out of the JasmineROM 8.0 zip is the bootloader (aboot.img) and possibly the kernel (boot.img) too. The changes to the bootloader and possibly the kernel too are what get rid of the security error with TWRP installed.
I want to root my VS985, but did the last 5.1.1 update and now the 6.0.
Are there clear instructions anywhere on how to root this thing? I tried to root a few weeks ago but could not find good instructions with download links that worked well.
Am I more screwed now that I took the 6.0 upgrade?

Hello,
I have used Kingroot to root 35b, and then i removed Kingroot and replaced it with SuperSU. I found the instructions within these forums.
My questions is, I'm currently on 35b (rooted), and I want to be on 46a rooted.
What is the process of me going from 35b rooted to 46a?
Once I am on 46a, I will try the Kingroot process.
Thank you,
dmoney98
I tried kingroot and it completes with success and root checker from the playstore also confirms root worked. However when the phone reboots it loses root. I tried to install twrp via the playstore app and it worked but I cannot boot into it, i get a message "boot verification fail" that pops up in a tiny window in the top left of the screen whenever I try to go into recovery. I tried a factory reset, but that does not work either. Guess I am stuck till I figure out how to get a proper root done.

One of two options:
1. You need to put TWRP (custom recovery) on. The easiest way to install TWRP is to downgrade from 35B using the TOT method (which requires the new .DLL from the 35B KDZ) to 10B, then root using the Stump app and use TWRP Manager from the Play Store to install TWRP, then you can flash @xdabbeb 's 46A ROM in the Development section. With this option you won't have to re-root once you're on 46A, plus you won't have to deal with Kingroot at all.
2. The other option is to flash the 35B KDZ (you could probably use Normal mode so it doesn't wipe your user data and internal storage) and then take the 46A OTA.

Yep, you can't install TWRP that simply after 10B. Has nothing to do with the way you rooted. See my post above for the easiest way to put TWRP on.
Are the instructions and files here: http://lgflashtool.net/index.php/tot-method/ what i need? Since I tried to install twrp already will I need to install the stock recovery separately or is that part of the image used during the TOT method?

Flashing via TOT or KDZ completely wipes your phone (your internal storage, data and system, but external storage is left alone), including the the recovery and replaces it to complete stock, so yes, it will "unbump" your phone and you'll be back to stock status.

Yes, that's the correct instructions, with the possible exception of the .DLL file. There's a thread in the General section with W*A*R*N*I*N*G in the thread title. Near the bottom of the first post in it has the new .DLL.
I had my G3 replaced by verizon after a hardware failure. The new one shipped with 47A, and I attempted to roll back to 10B using the TOT method, but it gave me the dreaded "there is no ks version" error. I checked and it's NOT one of the K revision phones. Anyway, I gave up on flashing it for now but decided to try rooting it with Kingroot. That failed as well. In the meantime I've received the notification to upgrade to 48A and since it kept bugging me about it, I went ahead and told it to upgrade. It failed with an error code and just sat there, unresponsive. So I pulled the battery and now it's stuck in a boot loop. It turns on, vibrates, and shows the LG splash screen. Then it reboots. So it's definitely bricked at the moment. I tried rolling back to 47A with the kdz method, which appeared to work but it's still doing the same thing. Tried the 48A kdz, same effect.
Does anyone have any suggestions or is this thing toast?
With the TOT method, were you using the newer .DLL that's extracted from the 35B KDZ? This is necessary from a completely stock 35B or higher VS985.
When you flashed the KDZ, did you choose the CSE option (you should)?
Try a wipe Cache or Factory Reset from the stock recovery, even though those shouldn't be necessary if you used the CSE option.
Like stock Factory Reset, the CSE option wipes everything including internal storage.
Lastly, although this doesn't help at the moment until you can successfully flash the TOT, flashing TOTs fixes more things than flashing KDZs. They contain more partitions than KDZs and I've witnessed the difference myself.
If you were still successfully on 47A and KingRoot worked for you, I'd direct you to my KS error thread and guide with a workaround in the General section. I wonder if in more recent versions of KingRoot if they broke their own method because the slightly older versions of KingRoot I have, have never failed to temporarily root the phone. Even then, it always required re-rooting after every reboot, and my workaround is a last resort that is merely to enable downgrading so you can still root etc the right way (SuperSU).

The file you're talking about for .TOT is LGUP9784.dll, right? I did download that one before attempting to apply the TOT.
For the KDZ, I did use the CSE option, but just for good measure tried wiping the cache and factory reset. Still in the same loop.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if Kingroot is broken though. I'm pretty sure that if I could successfully flash the TOT, everything would be fine. I have a replacement G3 on the way but I'm still going to try to tinker with this one for a few days before shipping it back. If the new one ships with 47A, I'll try Kingroot again and follow the directions on your thread.

The filename of the .DLL is generic - all the .DLLs from each stock release KDZ is named the same or very similar. I have the .DLL from 35B at my Android File Host link at the bottom of the first post of @annoyingduck 's stickied return to stock thread in the General section - a link to his thread is also in my signature below.
Just to be clear, the my alternative KS Error thread is definitely a last resort. Some people have bricked their phones doing it, and those of us that it's worked everytime have no idea why it has bricked for others. From what I know, everyone who's bricked was able to either flash the 10B KDZ or 10B TOT after, or using the QHSUSB_BULK 9008 mode recovery instructions if the device shows up as QHSUSB_BULK 9008 in Device Manager, though (even though the phone's bricked, the process downgrades certain partitions which enable flashing any KDZ). TOTs are still preferred, of course. I'm just saying when you get the replacement, try the TOT method again before doing anything else.
If you do end up trying the KingRoot method and it fails to root, let me know in that thread and I'll upload the older versions of KingRoot that worked for me on 46A and 47A (but no version works on 48A last time I checked).
The 48A OTA likely failed due to KingRoot's attempt at rooting although normally if something's modified an OTA these days just refuses to install but doesn't leave a bricked device. I'd chalk it up to how invasive KingRoot is.
FYI, weirder things have happened than this - try keeping your MicroSD card ejected. For that matter, when attempting flashing the TOT, I'd eject both the MicroSD card and SIM card when you think of it. Once in 9-10 blue moons, a MicroSD card is keeping the phone from booting correctly. I doubt if this is the case but its worth a try.
Long story short, I updated to ZVF (thats what it said I was on when I tried to flash back to stock with flashtool) a while back, I have been running resurrection remix for a while now and everything was fine. Then about three days ago I got stuck in a boot loop out of nowhere and my phone wouldn't go on to recovery mode, it would give me the message and ask if I was sure like it normally would do when booting in to recovery, but then it would just go back to bootlooping. So I attempted to flash back to stock ZVA, because ZVA was the most recent firmware I could find in TOT format, but alas, the flash failed, assumingly because it's not the firmware version I was previously running. So now I'm stuck in a bootloop again, and I really don't know where to go from here. Is there a ZVF TOT that I can flash? Is there anything else I can do to fix this? Is the phone totally screwed?? Any answer/advice would be greatly appreciated.
Have you found a solution? Did you try any other TOT files? or maybe KDZ method?

Nothing yet. I've tried ZVA and ZV8, neither worked. I've never tried the kdz method, how would I do this?

First try using the "Generic LG G3 DLL" here https://forum.xda-developers.com/sp...de-how-to-restore-sprint-lg-g3-ls990-t2852042
...............instead of the other DLL for for the sprint LG G3.....................with FLASHTOOL and whatever TOT file.
