[Q] How to arrange apps alphabetically? - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

How can I arrange my apps into alphabetical order on my S6 Edge running lollipop 5.02?
I could find the settings for this on my S4 running Lollipop 5.0.1, but cannot find it on the Edge.

I currently have the 3 UK rom, I wonder if the European or UK non branded version would still have the ability to do this.
I cannot think what possessed them to remove such a useful tool.

It is absolutely ridiculous that you need to have root to do this! Come on Samsung....

Why not just use a different launcher? Touchwiz is so fugly anyways...

You don't need to root to use a launcher.

My phone isn't rooted

I assumed for this I would need to root.
Could you be so kind as to enlighten me how I would install another launcher, and what ones are available and recommended for the Edge?

You can go to the playstore and download/install just like any app. I use Nova launcher.

For most users Samsung removed that option from their ROM/firmware.

Ah, I thought I would have to fire up Odin to change the launcher.
I shall experiment with whatever is available then.

A-Z sorting is CSC dependant for some reason. No sure why they'd remove that useful feature?
Hopefully it'll reappear in 5.1? I tweeted @SamsungmobileUK and they said they'd pass the request on...

How to get the ICS lock screen.

Just posting it for all the new people that didnt know. I havent seen it mentioned yet in the threads. We used to do this to get back to the original android slide to unlock screen. Turns out it still works.
Use what ever app you chose, I use Root Explorer. Navigate to /system/app and rename htclockscreen.apk to htclockscreen.bak.
Then reboot for changes to take effect.
Changing apk to bak is preferred over deleting in case you want the lockscreen back all you have to do is rename.
moving the unlock icon over to the camera does not work. So you can only unlock.

you can grab that and some others @ average-joes.net/files/Apps/KISS/
thanks for the tip, worked like a charm... For anyone else that tries this the ICS lockscreen won't work until you do a restart
Haha, yeah that part might help some people, forgot to put that. I just edited it now to include that.

I just made this change on my GB based ROM and it worked great. My last phone was a Nexus One so I miss the stock Android experience. Thanks for the tip.
Just an FYI to everyone, you will need to unlock your phone before answering calls. This is the only real draw-back to removing the htc lockscreen. If you set up a pin/facelock/pattern this will be really annoying, if not, it's only a matter of sliding the lock to the right =)
Does anyone know if the HTC lockscreen has been removed from Senseless ROM?
This may be a stupid question, but is it possible to port the ICS lockscreen to an unlocked GB by just replacing the file? Or will it cause space and time to implode in upon itself?

Since it's part of the O/S rather than an installed app, it can't be pulled out. It can probably be duplicated by someone that knows how to create lockscreens.
You might be interested in trying out " go locker"

This is awesome! I did this and i'm on ICS Sense Redefined and both the camera and the lock work! Thanks for the tip!
Would this cause any issues with Sense FCing? What about when getting a call, I take we have to unlock just to answer it?

[SOLVED] spilt screen multi tasking. possible on miui9 global stable?

Is this possible? It's a feature I greatly appreciated when using the AOSP patch Rom.
Any help enabling this would be awesome. Thanks in advance
Edit- thanks everyone who kindly suggested the xiaomi.eu Rom. It works nicely
I don't think it is possible, this feature was implemented in Android 7 and we're still stuck on Android 6... Damn Mediatek

Agreed with the sentiment but as I mentioned in my first post, it's a feature I was using in the AOSP ROM that's based on the miui8 stock Rom.
I'm actually liking the miui9 Rom other than missing being able to listen to YouTube music whilst using Google navigation.
I'll just have to store more music on my local storage
Which aosp where you using?
Perhaps it wasn't native, but something like a xposed plugin

The one by hoyangnguyen (excuse my spelling).
You may have a point. It might have been something I found within gravitybox. I can't find the settings there now though
It is possible to use a "split screen" in aosp marshmallow, you activate that on developer options. But MIUI does not have that option.
I have previously posted this elsewhere. A one-line change to build.prop. Need root..
It is soooo simple its an absolute sin Xiaome does not just give it to us!
How to install split screen actually i have root

I've just found the instructions after searching the forums. Thanks but I cannot get it to work.
I've edited build.prop and enabled the setting within developer options but the recent-apps screen doesn't have the needed icons.
Any ideas? Do I need to flash an alternative "recent apps" from another Rom perhaps? Where might I find info?

Question MIUI Version

Hi everyone!
I bought a Xiaomi 12T pro version here in my conuntry (Chile) and I did it through a mobile company. The thing is that its very difficult to update to the MIUI latest version cause it´s weird that my MIUI versión is "13.0.1.0(SLFCLEN)", so I don't know if I have a Global version or what. And this mobile company always have many delays with the update services. So I wanna see if I can update from my PC, but I don't know which version should I download...
Can somebody help me?
