[Q] tried to install rom and now phone doesnt workd - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

iv'e rooted my phone, iv'e wiped my phone, then tried to install slimkat rom from external sd card, but i wasnt able to open it.
then i installed slimkat from internal sd card but there was an "error 7" while installing.
at this moment my phone couldn't startup (only cwn and download mode worked), so i tried installing another rom with odin, but got stucked at "NAND Write Start".
i read on the internet how to fix it, i had to check "re-partition" on odin (which now i guess was big mistake) and checked "NANA Erase All" but it doesnt helped, I still have the same problem.
now my galaxy doesn't works at all, how can i fix it?

That is standard procedure after flashing any rom that gives a bootloop Please look here for some guides before you end up bricking your phone if you are brave enough to flash a rom again >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/samsung-galaxy-s3-sticky-roll-thread-t2344125 << and don't forget to backup your efs before attempting any more flashes or you may regret it in the future >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/general/ref-imei-efs-stuff-i9300-including-t2393289 << hope that helps..

[Q] Galaxy Ace GT-5830i stuck in recovery mode

Hello all,
I have an issue with my Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-5830i that is stuck in Android system recovery (3e) mode, and it seems there is no way to get it out of there.
- upon selecting wipe data/factory reset the device is stuck with one message "multicsc: src /system/csc/MTL/system/ ." and "Formatting /data..." bellow
- upon selecting apply zip from the SD card the installation always fails with various error messages (I tried to install cyanogen mod rom in an attempt to recover, but failed as well)
- upon selecting reboot now the whole screen disappears with only the "multicsc: src /system/csc/MTL/system/ ." message at the bottom of the screen and I need to remove the battery.
I will greatly appreciate if anyone on this forum could help with the issue, as I have search for possible solutions without any luck so far, and my phone appears to be bricked.
Thank you,
John
My guess is u still on stock recovery. Flashing cm rom or any other custom rom needs clockworkmod recovery, moroever theres no cm rom for s5830i yet.
For now u could try to reflash stock rom with odin. Theres a thread somewhere guiding howto do so for s5830i. Also do note that anything for original s5830 wont work on your s5830i.
Last but not least, do read more and understand what you're trying to do before u really hardbricked the poor thing.
Thanks for the pointers, I really appreciate it and everything works fine now.
It was actually my nephew's phone, so I have no idea how he managed to brick it like that.

I have the exact same problem. Except I can't even enter into download mode. Phone boots into recovery mode regardless of what buttons I press, get stuck at "formatting /data", and I can't flash anything. All the buttons seem to function as intended in the recovery menu, so it's not a hardware failure. Any ideas?

Flash stock rom thru odin then from recovery mod Clear data and cache then reboot. [emoji4]
I know this is kind of old but I have same problem, i got this phone from cousin and it wasnt booting , it was going straight into recovery, since my mother has same phone and i used odin before to save her, i am familiar with odin so, I tried new firmware flash with odin , it passed on odin but again doesn't want to finish install on the phone, it says
installing update...
--appling muti-csc --
Fromatting /cache...
-- Appling Muti-CSC __
and it wont go anywhere from there , and if I reboot it goes back in recovery again and it wont format data again, formatting cache works. I also tried to flash cm7, rooted it, installed cwm but when i do reboot it is not in cwm but in regular recovery, so after that I installed cwm again and without reboot installed cm7 kernel wich succeded , after that installing the cm7 itself stuck on "installing update" , could this be hardware issue, it always seem to be stuck when its doing something with "data". I tried couple odin flashes multi package and single package, i was carefull to chose correct firmware, only thing i could make mistake is maybe with pit and re-partition. Anyone help i would appriciate it much since i have no other phone than this.

[Q] GT-i9100 (SGS2) Stuck at reboot after formating

What the title said:
My SGS2 stucks at the reboot logo, SGS2 GT-i9100 >> Logo >> repeating.
I wanted to format my phone cause it was almost full, so i format it, but it doesnt work and i got the same space free.
So i tried to do it manually in Recovery Mode, i formated some stuff, but i formated something like: Format Pre-Load (or something like this) and some more stuff, if im right that was only data/cache etc, and system to.
But now my phone wont reboot....
Help!!!
Phone connects to Odin only, i tried to flash the file i use to rooted my phone again, but i get: FAILED.
Srry for bad English....
Hey guys,
I have a similar problem after attempting a root on my Galasxy i9001T.
I used Odin following the instructions on this thread,http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1125414, I've gotten as far as using Odin 1.83, using the GT-I9100T_DUKF2_original.tar as my insure kernel. Odin gave me the green light "OK" and I waited for my phone to boot upt.
My phone gets far as the initial "Samsung SII GT-I9100T" and stays there, there was no yellow triangle, which expected from the instructions. The phone recharges and is able to go into recovery mode, but is Odin is having trouble communicating to the phone via USB, it won't establish a connection, so I have a strange feeling that I've bricked my phone and need help to fix the problem if possible.
My phone model and kernel are below, any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

You should not have formatted preload. Why didn't you just format the internal sd card?? Anyway now you will have to flash official firmware with odin. you can find so many guides on how to do that
...and to format your system wasn't the best idea also

You cleaned everything boy even the Android OS
You just formated your whole phone you deleted your android os. you have to use ODIN to flash rom download some official firmware of some custom rom or if you have cwm download the rom transfer the zip to sd card or internal on your phone and flash it from cwm. And remember if you want to clean up your phone completly Just use factory reset in setting and if you want to delete all files in your internal sd check delete all files. Never format SYSTEM and PRELOAD
Now he's got a clean device alright.
I can just put a custom rom on it?
Using Siyah kernel, Philz, CWM or another? Does this matter?
Otherwise is put a rom on my sdcard and i put my sd in my phone and i flash it.
I putted a rom on my sd, installed it in Recovery Mode and its working again, thx for the support.

[Q] Rooted+AR then Softbrick out of nowhere (Internal SD Card wont mount)

I had rooted android revolution rom and it worked for a long time then suddenly it just turned off and didnt let me pass samsung logo.
I went to try backup restore through cwm and a bunch of other stuff aswell without success. (repartitions, reflashing, kies recovery, odin recovery, factory reset, and cache etc etc)
So i tried THIS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2187081 rescue proccess and everything worked great with odin it finished without any erros or complaints and then showed me green pass. After odin flash of stock i get this message after reboot.
see my Attachment. ( cant post link because new to xda, they set limits it seems )
and i cant enter my internal sd card either, just says cant mount.
Anyone have any ideas? Would greatly appreciate help

Flashed Philz (newest version for i9300) and tried to access internal SD card but it says: cant mount /sdcard/
Tried to enter sd card through all the ways i know off. from mounting via adb/cwm and now philz.
Really weird. odin managed to install stock and other roms on the phone without any errors. but when i restart it wont mount sdcard.
Is my sd card corrupt/damaged perhaps?

ok. would be awesome if that was the case lol. Did you have excact same symptoms?
the last picture i linked above was of philx and trying to format/wipe internal sdcard / system. but it wouldnt let me. really wierd..
Another thing i maybe could do is to try install OS on external sd card.. if that is even possible with i9300.

[Q] Would this method work?

I have a couple more questions.
1.) I have the brick bug, right?
2.) Flashing a safe kernel and then restoring the backup won't help either I presume?
3.) Would flashing the PIT file from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26428986&postcount=1 solve my problem?
thx in advance

Hi everyone
first of all, this is my first post so if i posted in the wrong section i am sorry
now here's my problem:
i have a Galaxy S2 (GT-I9100) with rooted stock ICS 4.0.4. I wanted to restore a backup which I created using the Nandroid Backup app on the same day. So i went into recovery mode, flashed a temporary CWM (from this thread http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2327472) then restored the backup from my SD card. if i remember correctly, if the restoration of the backup was succesful the phone should stay in CWM. In my case the screen went black for a few seconds then it looked like it would boot. However it just got stuck showing the Samsung logo with model number, so Samsung Galaxy S II GT-I9100.
I can still enter recovery and download mode. I did a factory reset, wiped cache partition and even re-flashed the stock ROM using odin but to no avail. After flashing the ROM, it didn't work so i did a factory reset again. It still got stuck on the logo so i went into recovery again. In recovery mode it says "E: failed to mount /sytsem (invalid arguement)". i could solve that problem by reflashing the ROM though.
does anybody know what caused this and even more imortantly, how to solve my issue?
On a side note, could be relevant, my phone just froze all of a sudden some times in the past months. i had to reboot my phone everytime it froze
Thx in advance
EDIT: ok, i've re-flashed the ROM again with odin. at first there is the green droid and the blue loading bar right below, but after a few seconds the screen goes black again and it tries to boot and gets stuck. I pulled battery, reinserted it and went into recovery, wiped cache. when i select "reboot" from the menu it says "E: failed to mount /sytsem (invalid arguement)"
Edit2: after flashing the ROM i get this "E: failed to mount /data (invalid arguement)" when rebooting over recovery. I've found a thread where it says i need to flash the dbdata.rfs.tar using odin. i will try that now
Edit3: when i try to flash the file i get a "NAND write start" "fail" error. I've been to a store that will take care of my problem.

TBH, I was aware that there was a brick bug but I thought i wouldn't be affected :silly:
And I was happy with ICS so I didn't upgrade. Also there is an app that currently only works on 4.0 or lower, so I didn't bother with upgrading.
the technicians of the store weren't able to repair it. i guess i have the brickbug :crying:

SIII won't start anymore

Hi, I don't understand, mobile ran so far (2 yrs) without any prob. I've been flashing and running all Temasek ROMs (4.4.4) without any issue. CWM v6.0.4.4. is installed. Yesterday, found mobile switched off and couldn't remember I switched it off, so I restarted it, and then nothing, I have the Samsung logo screen but it does not start. I can access to the CMW, but I can't do any restore, and dirty flash of ROM (still on the SD card). "reboot system now" gives me the same, stuck on samsung logo.
I do not understand. Anyone could advice me on what to try?
Many thanks

1. A clean flash. If it still hangs:
2. Flash newest firmware with Odin. If this fails:
3. Flash a 3part-PIT with Odin.
Hi,
ok, thanks for your reply.

Issue now is that I can't anymore access to CMW...
Thanks

Hi, I installed Philz recovery, I can access it. One thing is when I use "power options" and choose "power off", I'm getting a message: "Root access is missing/broken. Root. THIS CAN NOT BE UNDONE" and 3 choices: No, Yes - Apply root (/system/xbin/su) and No...
anyway, when I try to install ROM, it's aborded, zip is "bad", I'll try to put on the SD card another version of the ROM.
Any suggestion?
Many thanks.
I tried a restore from SD card, it starts but at "Done 388/401Mb", I'm getting an error message: Error mounting /data! skipping format... can't mount /data!
any suggestion?

Before you start using pit files (which should only be performed if you know exactly what you are doing) have you tried to return to stock I see you have a mac (Odin does not work with mac) so try this software first >> http://glassechidna.com.au/heimdall/ << read all the guides on how to use first. please only use pit files as a last resort before all options have been eliminated.
Thanks, I have both pc and mac, I was trying from work on my mac, but I usually do on my pc.
ok, I'll try stock rom, should I then do a clean install (use this feature from PhilZ recovery)?
Thanks

If the phone runs out of battery, or just decides to instant reboot for no apparent reason, one or more partition can corrupt.
This is why an efs backup is essential and a nandroid is advised.
