Hi I am new to rooting - just did this the first time today.
I followed instructions here and got root via CWM
http://galaxynote3root.com/galaxy-note-3-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-3/
then flashed Gummy via these instructions
http://galaxynote3root.com/galaxy-n...custom-rom-using-cwm-on-rooted-galaxy-note-3/
after first flash it was stuck in the boot
I flashed again as suggested in the above link if stuck in boot for 10 minutes.
It booted but got this many time 'process isn't responding' and got these options 'wait' or 'stop'
After 4-5 'waits' it booted...only to last 30-60 seconds while i tested an app or two ...then it would reboot.
I was on lollipop and now on 4.4.4 gummy. no problem during root. only problem seems the auto-rebooting
Where is this gummy rom?

Ok first the gummy ROM is in a AOSP rom for a 9005 AT&T device it is not designed for your phone if you are running a sprint note 3. You need to pull the battery then reinstall battery hold the power button the menu button and the volume down button at the same time once the phone boots up with a yellow triangle then push the volume up button. this will get you into download mode you need to Odin flash the stock lollipop operating system that was in your phone before you flashed the gummy ROM. There is a thread in the Android development section for Sprint note 3 by JairSantana that has a stock .tar of lollipop that you can download and odin flash with a PC click on my signature on ROM flashing basics for the instructions on how to do it.
i got the info from here:
http://galaxynote3root.com/category/sprint-galaxy-note-3-roms/
i assumed it was accurate since it stated it was a sprint rom - but alas the above post by jim states otherwise...

I assumed it was true based on this site:
http://galaxynote3root.com/category/...y-note-3-roms/
but alas...
And the only reason I rooted and flashed was to get international sim unlock via SUU app (that worked under kitkat) but seemed not to work (crashed) when i was forced to upgrade to lollipop. (and to fix gps issues and mobile data widget which worked well on kitkat)
I assume flashing to stock lollipop will also NOT allow SUU to work.... (but this user says otherwise as I had asked before I rooted - as impatient for a response and thought I should root at long last to try everything else: http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/help/upgraded-to-lollipop-ting-sprint-based-t3098952 )
Anyway will follow up with what you stated, will also try the other mentioned ROMs in the 'sprint note 3 rom' section.
thanks again

Ok sounds good if you have any problems just go to my thread on rom flashing basics in the general section and that will help you with instructions on how to flash Roms just remember that you can flash a rom as long as it is based on the operating system you have in your device. Since you are on lollipop which is Android 5. 0 there are not many ROMs available so you may have to flash back downgrade to 4. 4. 4 to have a better variety of ROMs to flash if you wish to flash an AOSP ROM remember that it has been ported and you will lose some of the original features of your note 3.
thanks for all this - will follow up on your thread in the 'general section'

YES you can use AOSP roms it's just that they have to be based on the OS that you have in your device and they have to be set up for a sprint devices. AOSP roms usually have different versions you just have to use the version that is set up for your device. The popular ones are CM 12 .
Galaxynote3root.com is a good site and has a lot of great info. just find the right version of the ROM you want to flash for Sprint devices on that website and you'll be good to go.

OK I just flashed MO AR rom and funnily it went from stock sprint 5.0 to MO AR 4.4.2.
Why ( how) did that happen ? Numerous ppl said you can't flash from 5.0 to 4.4...which is why I had all those issues with gummy and numerous other roms?
*still confused* )))

Hi I want to install latest CM9 nightly, As Im installing first time, I just want to make sure that my phone is running firmware lower than XXLPH though it looks lower but cant judge, I went through official CM9 Thread I can follow all the steps except this one. And also I have already rooted my device using
GT-I9100_THR_I9100JPKJ2_I9100OJPKJ1_I9100XXKI4 (firmware) and
CF-Root-SGS2_XW_XEF_KJ2-v4.4-CWM4.tar (root kernel)
I still havent installed any custom rom yet.
Here is my current phone details:
GT-19100
Android 2.3.5 (STOCK)
Baseband 19100XXKI4
Kernel 2.6.35.7-I9100XWKJ2-CL676699root
____________________________________________
I thought my firmware is higher than XXLPH so I found this guide to ugrade to ice cream firmware first:
http://androidbeast.com/937/tutoria...oid-ice-cream-firmware-on-galaxy-s2-gt-i9100/
then root it with this kernel :
http://androidbeast.com/948/root-samsung-galaxy-s2-cf-root-kernel-odin/
Now I need your advice that weather should I continue following above guide or should I start flashing CM9 firmware staright away ??
now that you are rooted and on ics, you can then follow the instructions in CM9 thread.
Flash odin version first and then update to latest build from cwm recovery
codeworkx said:
If you're a bloody noob and getting confused by following simple instructions, go down and read about using the noob-proof ODIN method.
First time installing CyanogenMod 9 to your Galaxy S II, or coming from another ROM:
- READ FAQs: http://teamhacksung.org/wiki/index.php/Experimental:GT-I9100:Frequently_Asked_Questions
- Make sure you're running ICS bootloaders lower than LPH: Download (flash as PDA with odin or extract and $ sudo heimdall flash --primary-boot boot.bin --secondary-boot Sbl.bin)
- make sure you're running a proper working CWM like the one from CM7
- Copy GApps and CM9 ZIPs to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9 zip
- Flash GApps zip
- DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your calendar sync will not work)
- Reboot
- Don't restore Apps using Titanium Backup!
Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 9:
- Copy CM9 ZIP to your internal SDCard
- Boot into Recovery
- Flash CM9 zip
- Wipe cache partition and dalvik-cache
- Reboot
Using the noob-proof ODIN method:
- Download CM9 Resurrection Edition
- Download GApps and put it onto your internal sdcard
- Open Odin
- Choose cm-9-XXXXXXXX-ODIN-galaxys2.tar.md5 as PDA
- Boot your phone into download mode
- Connect your device via usb to your computer
- Wait till Odin has fully recognized your phone
- Hit the start button and wait till the flash process is finished
- Device boots automatically into recovery
- Flash GApps, wipe cache and dalvik-cache
- Reboot into CM9
- Follow above steps to update CM9 to lastest available version (Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 9)

Yes, follow the "noob proof" method. (which doesn't seem too noob proof at the moment... :/)
And seriously, why did you start two threads (this current one, and this other one) about flashing an ICS ROM? CM9 is considered an ICS ROM, so really the topic is the same.
Hi.... i recommend this site galaxys2root.com

Actually on that post I wasn't sure which ROM was based on what firmware but i came to know from users like you and I got clear idea from you all before that in the mean time, i was gathering info through various guides, videos from weeks and merged those ideas in to one then I decided to install CM9 as it looks similar to new galaxy nexus phone and this is exactly what I wanted my phone to look and behave like. Now I am happy and satisfied.

Man... why did you the touch the bootloader first? never play with it unless you know whats gonna happen! and about noob installation guide for CM9 is not clearly noobproof, I completely did all installation with clockworkmod recovery, I used ODIN only once for rooting my phone after that i never used it as I was very very cautious and careful about each and everything bit i was doing.
But never loose hope, you never know what kind of brick you have you have two ways to unbrick your phone,
1.Using USB jig, search it on XDA, Google, Youtube
2.JTAG Service, This is the ultimate solution if your phone is completely Hard bricked but for this you have to send your device to them.
here is their demonstration:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kQdTi2vgMmY
its written in the cm9 installation to do the boot-loader with ODIN, that is what i do
oh bhai....... make sure you had i9100 not the i9100G,
remove battery and see if you can get download mode.
im running cm9 on new bootloader unless intratech still removes them from his stock ROm as he used too..... i came from stock LPS to cm9
that much sense i have dear its s2, and ya its dead, i send the cell to lahore, khi, rwp, but no one have jtag proper equipment

you dont get it i9100G is also S2 and virtually same. you have to see under the batter if its written i9100 or i9100G.
because thats what would happened if you flash i9100 bootloader onto i9100G.
plus faulty usb, dead battery can do the trick aswell.
I have a Sprint Mega SPH-L600 that I got with a 4.4 ROM that I just cannot seem to return to stock. I have tried all of Silesh's GT9205 ROM's with no avail. I have tried everything I can think of. I've downloaded every version of the stock 4.2 I can find but it always boot loops. I have also tried all of the GSM ported ROM's but they are the only thing that will flash to my phone. I have the custom Philz recovery that's how I'm flashing the ROMs. In download mode I don't see anything about knox. I don't believe I have it. My modem is still running the NA7. Is there any way to downgrade? My main goal is to open the diagnostic ports. But the CDMA dialer codes are non-existent in this GSM ROM. I am trying to flash this phone to Page Plus. What a hassle! Is there any hope Obi Wan Kenobi?!?! Thank you.
Be forwarned by using gt9205 roms on a sprint sph-l600 will mess up the wifi and lte thats why I made the mistake on 1st day of purchased the mega luckily I was able to get mega replaced no charge roms for sprint sph-l600 are not the same as other rom!

Haven't signed in to XDA since 2012 LOL. But anyway I have been seeing a few post from some users with a little problem after flashing a custom ROM. Mostly with an AOSP ROM (CM11, AOKP) Etc. This problem only seems to occur after taking the sprint KitKat OTA and then flashing TWRP with Auto Rec, Followed by flashing a custom rom. I've had this same problem when flashing CM11 to unlock my sprint variant for T-Mobile. The sound was completely gone.!!! Zip Ziltch!! No where to be found. Couldn't place calls because the call screen would go black and then come back with a call ended error. I've been searching for a solution for this for the longest and it seems like on every forum when everyone has this issue and needs help there is no response from any member. So I'm here to help in any way that I can. I found this solution after unlocking 3 G2's yesterday.
*I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU SOMEHOW BRICK OR FRY YOUR DEVICE. BY FOLLOWING THIS GUIDE YOU AGREE THAT EVERYTHING STEP YOU TAKE IS ON YOU. YOU.!! THIS HAS BEEN TESTED ON 3 G2'S AND WAS CONFIRMED WORKING. I SUGGEST THAT NOOBS WAIT FOR A CONFIRMATION FROM A DEV BEFORE PROCEEDING. THANK YOU.
I AM GOING TO ASSUME YOU ARE BACK TO YOUR STOCK ROM BEFORE DOING THIS, IF NOT JUST GO INTO RECOVERY, DO A FULL WIPE AND FLASH THE ZIP.
Before you begin download the KitKat modem from this link h t t p : / / forums (dot) xda - developers (dot) com / showthread (dot) php?t=2705509 ( can't post links) and place the zip on the root of you internal storage.
STEP 1 - FLASH THE CUSTOM ROM OF YOUR CHOICE.
STEP 2 - AFTER FLAHSING DO NOT FLASH GAPPS JUST YET. BOOT INTO THE ROM AND COMFIRM THAT THE SOUND IS INDEED DEAD.
STEP 3 - TURN OFF THE DEVICE AND BOOT INTO RECOVERY.
STEP 4 - DO A FULL WIPE AND FLASH THE KITKAT MODEM YOU DOWNLOADED. I DIDNT FLASH GAPPS YET TIL AFTER I BOOTED UP AND CONFIRMED WORKING SOUND, BUT YOU CAN FLASH THEM IF YOU WANT *BE CAUTIOUS, IM NOT SURE IF IT WILL DAMAGE ANYTHING*
But after you boot back up do some sound checks. Place a call and you should now have working sound. Congrats!! You did it! I have done this method on 3 sprint G2's so far. Have not tried other variants but they all should work the same.

Hello, I have this problem on a Samsung Galaxy Epress GT 18730. Which modems would I have to use?
Are you running a custom ROM.? I can't really speak for the express. First you have to make sure the sound drivers are there. If they are then try and locate the latest modem. It might be hard to find since the express doesn't really get a lot of attention.

Hmm.. well if Odin should bring back everything, is there a problem I did something wrong during flashing back to stock firmware? What are the exact steps I should take to get back to stock firmware?

Did you flashed the whole system.tar or whut idk how it goes by samsung anymore :9. Can you like extract from the tar.md5 and flash the modem.bin in the Phone section if I am right. You can just extract the things from the tar.md5 by renaming tar.md5 to tar.
But i believed that if you flash the whole Tar.md5 thing from Samsung that it flashes all files inside
Just try to extract the modem.bin from the tar.md5 and flash it in phone

Lol yeah, a Netherlands one. Thanks for taking the time out to check on my replies to this thread sir!
I got this problem on my LS980 today.
Let me just quote my post from the rom thread:
"I got no sound after flashing this rom on my LS980. Came from Cloudy's rom, full wipe, flashed rom, gapps and the bloat removal script from the gapps thread. No sound, anywhere-not in youtube, not in music player, not in settings, can't be a hardware issue since I had no problems on previous rom and it doesn't work with headphones, too."
I wanted to flash the modem, but the link is dead ;( any ideas what to do? I'm still on custom rom.
EDIT: back-up from ZVE stock kit-kat solved the problem. Now, what should I do to flash custom rom and have working sound..?
I rooted the phone, but know nothing about ROMS or if I even need one?
I rooted the phone so I can remove the bloatware & I was hoping for faster speeds out of the device as well.
Is there a ROM that the community generally considers the fastest/lightest stable ROM out there?
IMHO I've tried em all...
stock rooted OC5 update is the best
everything works.
debloat with root unistaller

It's on the development thread. Or you use ota. It will wipe your internal though so backup first.

This one right?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-3-sprint/development/romodin-t3095540
I bought a used phone & it is on
Hardware: N900P.12
Android version: 5.0
I plan to do a factory reset & then root the phone (I rooted a Galaxy Note 2 once, but I never installed a custom ROM before).
So when I "flash" that OC5 ROM, will it just be a de-bloated stock Samsung Note 3 ROM on the latest Loliupop update?
All the S-Pen & camera features of the phone will be intact?
Am I correct or is that a much more customized ROM?
Will I have to root it first before following the steps in that thread?

That's not a "flashable" rom in terms of using a custom recovery to do so, that is a tar that you use with odin and your phone in download mode. I would read some of the q&a threads in regards to updating from nk4 to oc5.

lol I'm completely lost, I think I'm going to brick my phone if I try this.
Nk4, Tar, Odin mean nothing to me.
I assume you don't mean Odin, the Allfather of Asgard.

I actually do not see any ROM named OC5 in this site under the Sprint ROM sections:
http://grantbarker.com/samsung-galaxy-note-3.html
Doesn't that site have every ROM available?
OC5 is the Samsung code for the latest version of their software. the letters and number correspond to the date is was released, can't remember how it translates... doesn't matter.
go here. read the whole thread. its not really that long.

Ok, so OC5 is just the latest firmeware update for the Galaxy Note 3, it isn't a custom ROM at all.
So the stock ROM is better than all of the custom ROM out there?

depends on who you ask.
I'm on stock rooted lollipop right now, with Nova Launcher. I love it.
there is a fellow putting together a stock rooted deodex that works with Xposed over in the gen chat sect, and that's going to be great, should be released soon.
I'm not a fan of theming at all, and IMHO the more changes a person makes in a ROM, the more features ported and crammed in there, the buggier it tends to be... and that's not always true either, just my experience.

Lolipop v 5.0 was already on the phone, I just rooted it & everything went fine.
I downloaded Titanium Backup & holy hell is there a crap load of apps on this. Too daunting to mess on my own.
So there is no stock debloated lolipop ROM for the Note 3 as of now & we have to wait for the deodex stock rom?

Correct. Lollipop was a different "type" of Android. So it's been catch up time for devs to figure out how to make the mods work on lollipop. It's all coming soon. There is also a list in general section of apps you can remove without worries.

You just said you are on the ROM you are trying to Download. N900P.12 5.0 IS the OC5 update. Go into Settings---About phone--- and read your base band...
so I got this galaxy s5 (free) to replace the S4 I had.. I'm on AT&T and the S5 is a T-Mobile device.. I unlocked and am currently using on AT&T without any issues.. I tried Cyanogenmod 12 on it.. had way too many Bluetooth music issues.. so I switched back to a rooted t-mobile stock.. which is terrible.. bluetooth music works great but everything is is painfully slow.. so I want to find a good fast custom rom (that also has proper bluetooth music support).. With so many device versions and so many custom roms I'm just a bit perplexed.. I found some that are debloated stock roms which seem like that would be good. but I'm just a bit confused on what parts I need to have as "t-mobile g900t" and which parts I don't have to have that way? so yeah this is a bit of a newbie question (even though I have run 4 or 5 custom roms in the past (original galaxy s and my s4 both had custom roms). .but those were always at&t devices on at&t network.. so was an easier choice..
at any rate.. looking for some tips on how to best find the right rom.. Would love to do this today/tomorrow.. avoid messing with the phone during the work week..
Thanks in advance!!
Gary
Try the latest stock ROM for the phone. Many of us were having issues with lag with prior 5.1.1 ROMS. The latest ROM has fixed all these issues. Very snappy.
i feel like i remember seeing bluetooth/audio fixes & updates in the CM13 nightly changelogs, you also didnt specify which CM 12 you installed... the last 12.1 snapshot from october or the last nightly from december?
You can run whatever rom you want. If it works with KLTE it works on your phone. Check the S5 unified development. Cyanogen has always been crap on this phone, probably always will be. Try an AOSP based one like Tesla or TipsyOS (probably won't find them on this site, they post all of their roms on their Google+ page)
Unfortunately the only Marshmallow available for this phone so far is CM-13 based so it's also crap and full of bugs...
To be honest, no ROM you find will be perfect. The most stable thing I've found is to just use a rooted stock ROM and debloat the hell out of it then run Google Now launcher or Nova and forget that you have a Samsung device for a while, until the next OTA comes out and you have to do the process over again.

much improved deep sleep battery means crap & full of bugs? i'm over a week behind on nightlies & there arent that many bugs... http://www.cmxlog.com/13/klte/ things are improving all the time, only CM 12.1 is stuck... but the last december nightly isnt buggy either
Sort of forgot about this thread. first Thanks for the replies.. So I have been using CM13 since I posted this.. and this has great for speed.. but BlueTooth continues to suck.. no matter what bluetooth device I use with this Rom it skips and stutters. I've finally had enough.. it's been quite a long time with this issue so time for me to switch.. I will try one of the rooted stock roms and debloat it with one of those tools.. thanks again everyone!

Go to the international s5 site look at Tamirda's phoenix rom . It's 6.0.1 mm very snappy very few bugs. Very moddable. Just load a stock mm rom from here first than so you have the proper bootloader and modem. After installing you feel like you got a mini s7. Good good.

If you have the mm bootloader and modem installed just wipe and flash. But I believe cm 13 could be ran on the lp bootloader. I odined the stock tar first that way you know all the partitions are proper. Than Odin Twrp 3 0.0 . Make sure you back up your data from internal storage because when you Odin factory package it wipes phone storage. I learned this the hard way lost a bunch of pictures lol anyway I found this to be the best way. Hoping this helps....

Get any phone info app and check and see if your bootloader ends in pe1 if it don't you don't have mm bootloader. Teamwin is twrp just make sure it's version 3.0.0 that version seems to do best with the phoenix rom.

thanks for sticking with me on the all the newbie questions.. bootloader version reported as G900TUV1FOG6.. later in the list it shows Latest Firmware: G900TUVUGPE1/G900TTMBGPE1/G900TUVU1GPE1.. so at first I was thinking I was ok.. but that second entry had me wondering.. (dang.. just noticed this was never submitted (from 6/28).. oh well)..
ok.. So I assumed I'm good to go.. installed the latest TWRP (3.0.2).. wiped the data area and tried to flash Phoenix.. It starts installing Aroma.. and within a couple of seconds the phone reboots back into TWRP.. did this a few times.. rebooting into the OS gets me a new Cyanagenomod not Phoenix.. figure I must be missing a step somewhere (or have something that is preventing Phoenix from installing).. thoughts?
thanks again!!

I think you still don't have the correct bootloader . The firmware is mm because your using CM13. The easiest way to get it done for sure is to odin the official MM firmware. Than install Twrp 3.0.0 flash superuser to have root . Reboot in recovery and flash phoenix rom v12.0 than the 12.6 update. This may take extra time this way but all the partitions will be correct. Or odin bootloader in BL slot and modem in cp slot . Don't set for auto reboot pull battery back into download mode Odin Twrp pull battery. Reboot into recovery than flash superuser. Than flash phoenix. Good luck

OK.. you may be right.. I downgraded TWRP to 3.0.0 and the install started working fine.. but now the reboot into Phoenix has been going for about 35 mins.. I know it can take some time but that seems extreme.. will wait a bit longer and if it doesn't work I'll try the steps you listed above..
thanks again

Gary look in this general section for the post that instructs you how to install factory mm. Follow the guide. Google to see how to install factory tar files using Lunix . I'm guessing my instructional writing skills leave something to be desired lol . Once you have the factory mm up and running install Twrp flash superuser reboot. Than reboot into recovery flash phoenix rom. Good good
