Unlocking Bootloader in Moto E running lollipop soak test - Moto E Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am having moto e 1st gen running lollipop 5.0.2 soak test. And yes its damn slow and laggy. I like to install custom roms. But the problem is that my boot loader is locked. I am just wondering ,if I follow the guide that people used to unlock boot loader when they were in kitkat ,ll help me to unlock bootloader with phone running lollipop.
I can simply get back to 4.4.4. and unlock from there but I saw many warnings regarding downgrading from lollipop to kitkat. And also the guides which helps to downgrade ,are contradiction to each other as one guide includes commands for got, motoboot and logo but the other doesn't include that saying it ll hard brick.
I am really confused abt that.
Any help abt boot loader unlocking with lollipop soak test would be welcome.
Thanks.
I am from India , and xt1022 is the only model here in India I believe.

Bootloader unlocking has nothing to do with system version(lollipop or kitkat) and it is permanent. If you unlocked the bootloader while you were in kitkat it is unlocked forever(unless you go to service centre and replace the motherboard) ,whether you update your rom to soak test or any custom lollipop rom. The guide for unlocking bootloader is same regardless of your system version. If you ever decide to downgrade to kikat ,make sure to downgrade to 4.4.4 If you downgrade to 4.4.2 you may brick your device
And follow this guide to downgrade http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e/development/downgrade-5-0-x-to-4-4-4-stock-firmware-t3031073

First of all,thanks for replying.
And now my doubt is cleared abt bootloader.
So after bootloader unlocking, I have to root and then flash custom recovery to have custom rom with twrp recovery. ,right ?
Am I missing anything here ?
Will my phone be stuck in bootloop after unlocking boot loader, cos it happens normally in some phones, ?

1)unlock bootloader-->2)flash twrp recovery--->3)*may require* to flash SuperSu to root--->4)Flash custom rom
3rd step may not be required but do it just to be safe.

First of all you dont make any sense.
Did you have an unlocked Bootloader when you did the update? Cuz if you did....
Known issues
It is currently not possible to unlock the boot loader for CDMA phones.
Some customers with unlocked boot loaders have experienced problems when they are accepting over the air upgrades (FOTA - Firmware upgrade Over The Air). For customers that have unlocked the boot loader, please do not accept any over the air upgrades. For additional information, check out the hints and tips from the community on the XDA forum.

[Q] Quick Question About Rooting My Moto G E

So I have the moto E second generation LTE (4 G)
The Surina XT1524 variant.
I watched the official "how to root" video from XDA and the guy rooting it had the XT1527 variation does this matter ?
Can I just follow the guide or will I get trouble doing so.
Also can I go back to the official stock ROM and kernel with a locked boot loader after I flash the new squid kernel ?
Can I still keep my warranty if I root and flash a new kernel on it or is this a "no way back " situation ?
There must be a way to reverse it right ?
Sorry for being a noob!

When your phone has its bootloader locked, and has never been unlocked, it has a special code that can be checked through fastboot. If you unlock it for any reason, in this case for flashing a recovery and rooting, the code will say that's unlocked. If you re-lock it, it'll have another code, and this is what the carrier or Motorola checks to see if the warranty is still valid; so if you unlock the bootloader, it'll have no warranty.
It doesn't matter what variant you have, the recovery is for all variants, and the SuperSU (root) is universal.
In case you **** up real bad, you can save your phone, you can restore stock firmware, you can follow this guide. The firmware for your phone can be found in this FileFactory folder.
Thanks for the info !
Is there anyway to root my phone without unlocking the boot loader?
I bought it about a week ago and like my warranty :rolleyes
it is all about the adventure isn't it? live a little...pay a lot, it all depends lol

Can I install CyanogenMod?

Just recently purchased the Xperia Z2 Tablet and I'm very disappointed to find that I can't unlock my bootloader. I read a post on here that mentioned it was still possible to install CM on a locked bootloader. Could anyone explain to me how I could do this or link me to a thread that will help? Here's my device info:
Model SPG561
Android v4.4.4
Build 23.0.1E.0.208
Currently unrooted.
I actually got this today after returning a tablet just because I couldn't install CM or unlock the bootloader. I'm very close to just returning this and getting a different one. If I'm **** out of luck with the Z2, could anyone recommend a Verizon LTE tablet, with good specs, that will allow me to unlock the bootloader? I'm getting desperate.
Thanks for any help.

I can't see how you could flash CM on a locked boot loader as it requires a custom kernel.
I don't know anything about the Samsung tablets on vzw but I suspect they are locked down. The LG tablet can be "unlocked" with bump but its a piece of garbage. If the Nexus 9 is available for vzw its probably your only chance at getting an unlocked boot loader. Some of kindle fire tablets can be unlocked as well but they need to be on older firmware AFAIK
Unlocl boot loader
Yes you can unlock bootloader by going the sony site and follow the instructions. I ask you for the emei number ad other things. but follow the instructions carefully.
2nd option. Use Sony mobile flasher by androxyde it works perfectly well on mine. But if youneed to update or upgrade through Sony Compagnon, you will need to relock bootloader, install update and the (re) unlock bootloader. It works for me...

Can't be done without unlocking bootloader. You can use HTC Sync to update to latest official ROM for your device; it will flash the current ROM from your workstation. Note that doing so will wipe your device.
If you want to run anything other than stock, you need to unlock bootloader. The only way to unlock bootloader is with Sunrise, and that costs $25.

bootloader question

I gather that it is necessary to unlock the bootloader in order to root - is this possible to do on the Verizon version? If so, could someone point me towards a tutorial, as I have only found posts on rooting, not unlocking the bootloader.
To date, it's not.
Thanks.
So then it is not possible to root the Verizon version?
[ASK] bootloader version
hai guys, need info of moto z xt1650-03.
i've moto z 7.1.1 and BL 91.08.
i've already tried to reflash with version 6, but i've got the error for downgrade issue.
so i flash it back to its original.
so much work to do this, coz i've been very hard bricked for downgrading it.
the question is, is it possible to downgrade BL 91.08 to other version ?
i think that if i can downgrade it, it can flash the old version like MM or N 7.0
many thanks.
