[Q] Quick Question About Rooting My Moto G E - E 2015 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have the moto E second generation LTE (4 G)
The Surina XT1524 variant.
I watched the official "how to root" video from XDA and the guy rooting it had the XT1527 variation does this matter ?
Can I just follow the guide or will I get trouble doing so.
Also can I go back to the official stock ROM and kernel with a locked boot loader after I flash the new squid kernel ?
Can I still keep my warranty if I root and flash a new kernel on it or is this a "no way back " situation ?
There must be a way to reverse it right ?
Sorry for being a noob!

When your phone has its bootloader locked, and has never been unlocked, it has a special code that can be checked through fastboot. If you unlock it for any reason, in this case for flashing a recovery and rooting, the code will say that's unlocked. If you re-lock it, it'll have another code, and this is what the carrier or Motorola checks to see if the warranty is still valid; so if you unlock the bootloader, it'll have no warranty.
It doesn't matter what variant you have, the recovery is for all variants, and the SuperSU (root) is universal.
In case you **** up real bad, you can save your phone, you can restore stock firmware, you can follow this guide. The firmware for your phone can be found in this FileFactory folder.

Thanks for the info !
Is there anyway to root my phone without unlocking the boot loader?
I bought it about a week ago and like my warranty :rolleyes

it is all about the adventure isn't it? live a little...pay a lot, it all depends lol

[Q] What about simlock?

Hi friends,
Before buying this cute smartphone, I want to know if we have solutions to unsimlock the Xperia S.
Thank you all
if you have option, buy unlocked one
why?
1) phone is locked so no other network
2)unlocking phone would be very expensive since is new so £30-40 + wait to people work out how to (price in highstreet)
3)instatly lose warranty - (test point)
4) locked bootloader no fun on xda
-no fastboot
-no unlocked botlooader
-no xrecovery
-no custom rom
-no root
- long wait for update.
- i am not sure whether unlock simlock = unlocked bootloader.

Currently there is no free Sim Unlock in the DEV section. Best check next time before asking
The phone has been out around 3 weeks, might be a while before a solution can be found.
I have checked more than you can imagine that's why I have asked to know if there is a solution because I didn't find it

I won my Xperia S in a competition from Three UK.
I'm on Orange and have my contract to pay so I asked Three for an unlock code. They've had to speak to Sony because even Three don't have a code yet.
I paid £15 on 9th March and I'm still waiting for an unlock, just want to use my beautiful Xperia

Are you sure?
A network locked phone cannot be root and no unlocked bootloader?
my X10 was locked and I could root it easily and flash other official roms (different baseband).
Then I sim-unlocked it before flashing custom roms, so I don't know if I am able to do that with a locked phone though.

Just got my Xperia unlocked officially from Three UK. So it works on any network however all the Three integration is still there and after checking the bootloader status I am unable to unlock the bootloader as of now.
So although it's unlocked to any network, it's still kinda locked with regards to the bootloader and rooting.

Have you flashed an un-brand firmware? (there is a way to flash another official rom without rooting/unlocking) Maybe it would be bootloader unlock-able after that...? (i really not sure about this)
But there should be a way to root the phone without bootloader unlocked soon or later anyway (just like the others)
and i know that the X10 can be bootloader unlock even with simlock (although the method came out quite late...)
it's just a matter of time, shouldn't be the end of the world

IMEI UNLOCK Sony Xperia S
Hi,
I planing to buy a Sony Xperia S and IMEI unlock it...Maybe this is a stupid question but if I buy the Xperia S new, is it possible it comes already with blocked counter? or every Xperia S comes with 5 to 10 attempts? and if it comes with factory blocked counter, is it still possible to remove simlock? Would it be to expensive? I really need to know this in order to know if I buy the Xperia S or not. Sorry if it is a dumb question but I was an iOS user 'til now. Sorry if I post this in the wrong thread.
Thank you!!

unlocked P768 bootloader before ?!

Hi all,
I did upgrade the 768 to official jellybean (mexico) and has been since trying to unlock bootloader and root but in vain!
all tools or command I use just restart my phone instead of prompting me to press VOL_UP to unlock. I have read about putting phone on (LG mobile/ charge only) and leaving phone running vid on wifi for 30min, but still I get the same result.
So I am here asking if anyone unlocked the 768 before? What exact steps did u do?
Before anyone asks: yes USB debugging is enabled and drivers are installed.
I hope you can help me! thanks!

Look amigo, from what i understand you require to unlock the bootloader only if you want to install custom Roms on your phone and as far as I know there are no such custom Roms for our model p768 because of the 8mp camera, además you dont need to unlock the bootloader to succeed rooting your phone.
I have rooted my phone and did not unlocked bootloader, what i done was reading a lot this 2 guides:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2173465 with this one start following instructions from step 0)
http://www.htcmania.com/showthread.php?t=537162 but since your native language is spanish I recomend this one guide better!
Anyhow here is my email [email protected] and if you like you can add me on skype with this email [email protected] I am Mexican and be more than glad to help rooting your phone.

Correct you are amigo, but what i have read is that if you install a custom Rom for p760 on our devices p768 the camera will stop working, so many have tried and cuz of that they went back to stock Rom, do you know if that issue has been solved. ?

Guys, do you anyone that has succeded?, have you read about our devices p768!?, the question remains, what is the point of unlocking bootloader if there are no custom Roms for our devices!!??, I havent read or heard from anyone that they have succeded installing a custom rom witho loosing the camera of the phone, are you willing to sacrifice the camera of your devices!?, there is a way to unlock the booloader of our devices ny the way, it involves going to a stock Rom version that allows BL unlocking and then back the the proper version or the custom Rom , but again and again "8 mp" camera will not work, at least thats what i have read here and there.

Unlocking Bootloader in Moto E running lollipop soak test

I am having moto e 1st gen running lollipop 5.0.2 soak test. And yes its damn slow and laggy. I like to install custom roms. But the problem is that my boot loader is locked. I am just wondering ,if I follow the guide that people used to unlock boot loader when they were in kitkat ,ll help me to unlock bootloader with phone running lollipop.
I can simply get back to 4.4.4. and unlock from there but I saw many warnings regarding downgrading from lollipop to kitkat. And also the guides which helps to downgrade ,are contradiction to each other as one guide includes commands for got, motoboot and logo but the other doesn't include that saying it ll hard brick.
I am really confused abt that.
Any help abt boot loader unlocking with lollipop soak test would be welcome.
Thanks.
I am from India , and xt1022 is the only model here in India I believe.

Bootloader unlocking has nothing to do with system version(lollipop or kitkat) and it is permanent. If you unlocked the bootloader while you were in kitkat it is unlocked forever(unless you go to service centre and replace the motherboard) ,whether you update your rom to soak test or any custom lollipop rom. The guide for unlocking bootloader is same regardless of your system version. If you ever decide to downgrade to kikat ,make sure to downgrade to 4.4.4 If you downgrade to 4.4.2 you may brick your device
And follow this guide to downgrade http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e/development/downgrade-5-0-x-to-4-4-4-stock-firmware-t3031073

First of all,thanks for replying.
And now my doubt is cleared abt bootloader.
So after bootloader unlocking, I have to root and then flash custom recovery to have custom rom with twrp recovery. ,right ?
Am I missing anything here ?
Will my phone be stuck in bootloop after unlocking boot loader, cos it happens normally in some phones, ?

1)unlock bootloader-->2)flash twrp recovery--->3)*may require* to flash SuperSu to root--->4)Flash custom rom
3rd step may not be required but do it just to be safe.

Can I install CyanogenMod?

Just recently purchased the Xperia Z2 Tablet and I'm very disappointed to find that I can't unlock my bootloader. I read a post on here that mentioned it was still possible to install CM on a locked bootloader. Could anyone explain to me how I could do this or link me to a thread that will help? Here's my device info:
Model SPG561
Android v4.4.4
Build 23.0.1E.0.208
Currently unrooted.
I actually got this today after returning a tablet just because I couldn't install CM or unlock the bootloader. I'm very close to just returning this and getting a different one. If I'm **** out of luck with the Z2, could anyone recommend a Verizon LTE tablet, with good specs, that will allow me to unlock the bootloader? I'm getting desperate.
Thanks for any help.

I can't see how you could flash CM on a locked boot loader as it requires a custom kernel.
I don't know anything about the Samsung tablets on vzw but I suspect they are locked down. The LG tablet can be "unlocked" with bump but its a piece of garbage. If the Nexus 9 is available for vzw its probably your only chance at getting an unlocked boot loader. Some of kindle fire tablets can be unlocked as well but they need to be on older firmware AFAIK
Unlocl boot loader
Yes you can unlock bootloader by going the sony site and follow the instructions. I ask you for the emei number ad other things. but follow the instructions carefully.
2nd option. Use Sony mobile flasher by androxyde it works perfectly well on mine. But if youneed to update or upgrade through Sony Compagnon, you will need to relock bootloader, install update and the (re) unlock bootloader. It works for me...

Xperia M4 Aqua Stock Flash and Recovery

Hello guys!
I have a Sony Xperia M4 Aqua E2303 from Orange with their custom firmware.(Their Apps and start-up logo, etc.)
It is possible to flash the sony stock firmware(marshmallow) to get rid of this custom firmware ?
Also after flashing the stock it is possible to install a custom recovery like TWRP?
If is possible to do those operations ,is there a way to back up the actual firmware in case of possible problems?
Im kinda new to this forum but i want to thanks in advance for your help and advices .
Thanks again and have a good one !
If you bought it from Orange, check that your booloader is unlockable (to do this, type this in the call menu: *#*#7378423#*#* then in Services info, rooting status you can see it)
If it's unlockable, you can flash recovery and root it after you unlock the bootloader (You will lose your DRM keys)
Here is a guide about rooting and unlocking.
With root, you can also remove those apps that you want.
(the guide is made for E2353, idk if the files will work for you...)
Also, here you can find the stock roms.

Thanks for your help buddy.
Unfortunately the bootloader is not unlockable.
But i took the risk and i flashed a stock firmware (E2303,Central Europe 1, 6.0.1) via Flashtool and XperiFirm. I got rid of all orange apps except one which is good ,my free space is around 4gb from those 8gb. Also the phone is more faster in menus and some apps.
I saw a thread here on xda , about rooting and flashing recovery with locked bootloader but need to downgrade to lollipop Here. I do not not know if it is worth the while.
Is there any way to unlock the bootloader even if it says that it can not ? Maybe Sony Support?
Thanks again ! Good Day !
Your welcome, also i sad to hear, that you can't unlock your bootloader Have a nice day
