Just searched on Google and found one click root.. can anyone confirm if there's such a Method to root the s6 edge
can you give more info??? whats the link
Probably talking about the PingPong Tool, link here : http://www.xda-developers.com/pingpong-tool-roots-your-galaxy-s6-without-tripping-knox/
CAUTION : This is not available yet for the S6 EDGE. Only for the standard s6...
There is support for the S6 Edge. I have a Verizon S6 Edge that I rooted this morning with PingPong.

Right, just found it : http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/root-pingpongroot-s6-root-tool-t3103016
So will it void warranty ?
And what about otas?
OTA will only work after root is removed, which can be done by flashing a stock FW via odin (there's a simpler way as well, I think - flashing certain partitions only).
Knox bit is not set, thus warranty is NOT void.
Cheers.
Will Flashing via Odin erase the data? or not always??
Also, I think unrooting can be done also via Smart Switch isn't it? (again, what about the data in that case?)

There is a bit on the processor (using eFuse tech) that can be permanently set by the firmware. Samsung uses this bit for it's Knox tech. Knox is used for security for business apps and payments perhaps. If you flash a custom recovery, Knox bit is set forever and will not work. This means your warranty is over too. You can tell if your Knox warranty void bit is set in download mode.
This Pingpong root works without tripping the Knox, so warranty is still there

I understand that rooting trips it, but if you flash back a stock firmware, does that untrip it? or is it forever tripped?
tripped for good

It won't get tripped, I have disabled Knox services on mine and still KNOX counter is 0x0
Didn't somebody from the note 3 or 4 forum successfully reset Knox??
Is there any safe method for rooting Samsung galaxy a500f without tripping knox (without loosing warranty), i know about king root but that is not a safe method thanks in advance
KingRoot is perfectly safe, bcoz it doesnt work. And no, there is no method without trippong knox.

I know but as you said before I don't think there is any method right now that can root lollipop a5 without tripping knox
To tell the truth, since 2000, none of my phones not broke. For each of them, since I discovered xda in 2008, I had modified software,so I do not look on the phone warranty.
Take your time, and wait for stable proven solutions.
For now this is warm, new, but unpopular (for the moment) phone.
Hi,
i have bought a new S6 Edge and would like to install root with Ping Pong Mode on 5.02
This disables OTA updates.
So far understood.
But then how can i update in the future to 5.1.1 while staying rooted and without loosing fingerprint sensor etc. and without increasing knox?
Also a custom recovery would be gread without increasing KNOX
Any info about that would be great, thanks

IMPOSSIBLE IMPOSSIBLE IMPOSSIBLE IMPOSSIBLE.
Did I mention it is impossible?
some variants can be updated to 5.1.1 however each technique requires a trade off.
To keep root, either you will trip knox, or you will lose the fingerprint sensor.
Which variant do you have?
The technique to use depends on your variant.
thanks for the info. i dont have any t mobile variant or sth. just ordered by amazon germany
or what do you mean?

When I ask which variant, I mean is it SM G925F, SM G925S etc. It should be written on the back of the phone.

I think that is possible but don't know how
Hi again,
I did again some reading and as far as i know so far i have some options, please correct me if I am wrong:
When I stay on 5.02:
- Rooting with Ping Pong Mode
- Knox wont be triggered
- Fingerprint Sensor is kept
- No update to 5.1.1 possible so far
- No custom recovery flashable without triggering KNOX???? <-- Is this right?
When I am on 5.1.1:
- Rooting without triggering KNOX is not possible
- Rooting with Unikernel and Autoroot
- Fingerprint Sensor and Edge functionality is kept
- What is the deal with the locked bootloader? How can i find out if mine is locked if I have 5.1.1? How can it be unlocked?
Thanks for help
BR
André
Hi again,
I did some researching and wanted to know if i am correct.
What i thought was: Staying on 5.02 but rooted and with Fingerprint sensor and KNOX 0x0.
So what i would do:
- Base is 5.02
1. Engineering Bootloader flash with ODIN
2. Boot in Download mode and flashTWRP with ODin
3. Boot in Recovery and flash 5.02 Root Kernel (Hacker kernel/Hybridmax)
Is that correct=? Any thoughts / problems on this?
Thanks and regards
I was curious if there was root method for 5.1.1 (FOL1) that doesn't void Knox
Not at the moment.

No, but it's hilariously easy to get Samsung to honor a warranty on a device with a tripped Knox flag, if that's what you're worried about

What about the OneClickRoot.apk?

So as I understand the SM-G965U is the only Verizon model that is CDMA and can be rooted.
I also understand that the bootloader is factory locked and cant be unlocked currently.
So as I understand it I cant load custom roms and I will be stuck with stock rom?
Is there a version that has bootloader factory unlocked and is CDMA capable?
So as I see I can root this model but with limitations such as
Cons
loss of finger print login
due to locked boot loader no customer roms only the stock rom?
loss of samsung pay and encrypted folder
loss of warrenty via tripped KNOX
Pro's
root access maybe some banking apps with Magisk
enable hot spot without monthly bribe to Verizon
any other pro's tips or gotchas I should know b 4 I buy this phone?
If you can not unlock the bootloader, which is the case. A limited root is not even worth the try...

You can install GSI if you want, which can let you run Android 10.
