I am surprised this isn't topic #1 in these Verizon G3 forums. I have a stock LG G3 on KitKat still. The official OTA Lollipop update is out now. What's the best way to root this?
Found this guide, any good?

Note I have personally tried none of this.
You can try this for rooting: LG one click root
And if you wish to install TWRP, then I would suggest giving this a try:Autorec

The one-click root has been around for awhile and has worked for all the unofficial LP releases (23a and 23b) as well as all releases of KK (10b, 11c, 12b) and was confirmed last month to work with 23c when that OTA was leaked as well.

Yes, except I'd KDZ 12B instead, but that's my choice. Keep in mind the 10B_01 KDZ wasn't the official release so you won't be able to OTA to 12B or beyond. The 10B_03 TOT was the official release, however. You can root any release with the new one-click method. Remember to move anything you don't want to lose from your internal storage to external before using the KDZ or TOT.

Can you maybe provide more insight on how to KDZ....I come from Nexus phones and am not familiar with this method... Currently I'm only stock Lollipop, I managed to gain root, but I'm looking to downgrade so I can install a custom recovery and Roms.

I have rooted with towelroot and installed supersu.
After a while I did a full unroot with supersu and uninstalled both. Then an official security update came and it installed just fine but now I get a 0x1111004 error (this device is suspected in rooting) when I try to install L.
I am a complete noob, so could you please point me in the right direction?
Thanks,
you need to flash 4.4 kdz then ota or straight to 5.0.2 kdz
because lg root security detected that you had root

yeah
but use kdz for g2m not g2
https://twitter.com/lg_firmware?lang=pl - search for the one that suits you (ofc d620r model)

Thanks a lot for replying. I just did it with no issues. Just one more question. In case I want to revert back to 4.4 do I simply flash the previous version or are there factors to consider?

You can, but you have choose "CSE Flash" instead of "Normal Flash"
I tried to check updates through the phone and it said my phone is up to date. I also try the Verizon upgrade assistant and it checks the phone's info but it doesn't give me the option to upgrade. I am no Android Version 4.4.2 and on software version VS98510B. I just bought this phone on craigslist. Help me out please?
Root it, install and update TWRP, and JasmineROM. Boom.
I would rather not root the phone.
No harm in rooting it, only benefit as half the people I talk with don't even like Lollipop, especially not the broken VZW version. With root, at least YOU can choose when the phone YOU bought and own with YOUR hard earned money is upgraded. Just my 2c. Otherwise I don't know why it would be doing that. Keep in mind if you upgrade to the broken Verizon LP build and don't like it you'll be rooting anyways to downgrade back.

Use the 23C_01 KDZ with LG Flash Tool 2014 in Windows. Have the Verizon specific LG drivers installed first.
[VK810.4G] [altev] [ViKtory810ROM] official LG G Pad 8.3 Lollipop 35A_08 5.0.2
[VK810.4G] [altev] official LG G Pad 8.3 Lollipop 35A_08 5.0.2 DEBLOAT SCRIPTS and copies of all the files they remove
[VK810.4G] [altev] OTAs, .IMGs and KDZs, oh my
Will try that right now.

Sometimes when downgrading to 10B you will not be able to update. So KDZ to 12B and then take OTA.

How do I get the 12B KDZ? I can't find it by google. What is OTA? Over the air? How do I do that?
12B KDZ should be in this forum... somewhere....
OTA = Over the Air
If you are on an unmodified, unrooted stock with stock recovery, it should trigger automatically. If not, got to Settings and have it check for an update. Pretty large files, may wish to make sure that you are on wifi.
Mines the same way on 4.4.2 and says up to date my version is vs98510a tho...
Most likely if you aren't getting ota, you are not using it on verizon. Like me lol

thats not entirely correct.
if you are not getting updates, most likely some uninformed person flashed the phone with the 10b kdz, which is not on the official update path, and why you cant get updates.
use one of the return to stock threads in the general forum to fix it, and use any other kdz or tot but not the 10b kdz or you will be right back stuck again.
Hello all,
Has anyone heard of a potential root for MM (If you've taken the update via OTA or LG Bridge) in the near future?

"I've replaced my V10" - that does not mean root confirmed. "Grogg88" I believe changed to a non-LG phone running on MM and got root. He nowhere says it's on an LG V10 -But that he changed is critical because LG has their own firmware tricks...

I already knew MM doesn't have root. The OP never specified with LP or MM so I just commented. So I'm not telling lies about root on the H901. I was just not specific like the OP.

Now we know he did get a new LG V10 from TM, but it was still a Lollipop - lucky guy... that is why he was able to root...the old fashioned LP way...

No. If you go ota or LG Bdridge, you are stuck until root is acheived. If you go the way of Eliminator74's version, you will have the official update with root. LG
Bridge and OTA = official MM without root and custom recovery.
Eliminator74's Rom = official MM with root and custom recovery.
Word of warning, no matter what route you go for the update, you cannot go back to lollipop. Trying to go back to lollipop will result in a bricked phone.

You can root, then flash TWRP and then flash a custom ROM. That's about it. Since you don't have a SIM, you won't be able to receive OTAs.
Follow the instructions in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-lg-g3/general/how-to-manually-downgrade-partitions-t3326775
Or if you don't care about root, use LG Flash Tool 2014 to flash the 47A KDZ. Look for @annoyingduck 's stickied return to stock thread in the General section.
