Hello all,
Has anyone heard of a potential root for MM (If you've taken the update via OTA or LG Bridge) in the near future?

"I've replaced my V10" - that does not mean root confirmed. "Grogg88" I believe changed to a non-LG phone running on MM and got root. He nowhere says it's on an LG V10 -But that he changed is critical because LG has their own firmware tricks...

I already knew MM doesn't have root. The OP never specified with LP or MM so I just commented. So I'm not telling lies about root on the H901. I was just not specific like the OP.

Now we know he did get a new LG V10 from TM, but it was still a Lollipop - lucky guy... that is why he was able to root...the old fashioned LP way...

Hi,
I read the thread and I have a question. If you used LG Bridge instead of OTA can you use the method in that thread to obtain root or am I still barked?

No. If you go ota or LG Bdridge, you are stuck until root is acheived. If you go the way of Eliminator74's version, you will have the official update with root. LG
Bridge and OTA = official MM without root and custom recovery.
Eliminator74's Rom = official MM with root and custom recovery.
Word of warning, no matter what route you go for the update, you cannot go back to lollipop. Trying to go back to lollipop will result in a bricked phone.

yea, we won't really know if this is a root exploit patch until someone takes the hit.
Its been confirmed by multiple people that the update does not address root or loki.

Yes...it doesn't patch root. If you are rooted and do not have a custom recovery installed. You can accept the update and it does nothing. If you have TWRP installed, you need to flash the stock recovery, accept the update and then flash back to TWRP after.

Software Upgrade Assistant fails
SUA acts like it knows my phone is connected, even says searching for updates, but never lists my G2 in the window of devices. Drivers are current and using LG cable to a main USB port.
Does LG post changelogs or would this come from Verizon?
I would think VZW since they are the one changing LG's software.

Most idiot-proof way to upgrade atm is using the Verizon upgrade utility that is included with the phone. Just hook it up to your pc, follow the autorun prompt, and then proceed to download it and it should install the update automatically.
Dumb question probably... Do I need to do something first if coming from malladus rom like revert to stock?

Yes, except I'd KDZ 12B instead, but that's my choice. Keep in mind the 10B_01 KDZ wasn't the official release so you won't be able to OTA to 12B or beyond. The 10B_03 TOT was the official release, however. You can root any release with the new one-click method. Remember to move anything you don't want to lose from your internal storage to external before using the KDZ or TOT.

Some already received OTA.
If you want to know when you will receive it, you have to ask LG or your provider for branded phones.

Branded version aren't actually locked, this happens only for american carriers.
In Europe branded versions are just... Formality. If you want, you can wait until the official release for your phone, but you are able to flash the kdz without problems.

Why you still waiting when we already have firmware lollipop just flash KDZ file with flash tool and that's it don't no more.
Here you can find some info about flashing and downloading Lollipop for G2mini check it out: www.g2rom.com

Wise and respectable choice, remember that using a firmware not designed for your exact version invalidates the warranty. But if you flash later your exact firmware (can be found online through youilr IMEI), warranty comes back.
Also, no one knows when will it be released, it should happen within 1-2 weeks max.

This is the new thread for waiting for root for Android 6.0.
Currently we have 5.1.1 rooted and people are just waiting for them to release root again for us.
If anyone is creating early bounty's for this than you can let me know and I will add them to the top of the thread.
I'll put up $20 for MM root.
I'll put up $5, it's all I can really spare.
i really wasnt looking for root on 5.1, i think verizon had to hurry up and put Marshmallow out because of root
I'll pledge $20. Gave up root for mm and regretted it rather quickly.

If @tungkick or someone cracks the bootloader for 11b, or does something like done on the G3 with the bump method, we should then bee able to get twrp flashed and custom roms flashed so we won't have to worry about cracking vzw's 22a at all. We could then flash any rom we'd want, including marshmallow roms. Am I right in this thought process? And those that are on 22a would just have to downgrade to 11b using lgup refurbish mode.
