Debloat without root or temp root? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S 4

Is there a way to debloat the completely stock rom without rooting, or is there a way to temp root a device just to debloat and then put it back to normal?
Sorry for newbie questions, I've been on an HTC for the past 3 years and haven't messed with any Samsung stuff since before then.

I was looking to get rid of it altogether, the thing has over 6gb of junk in storage. Is that just common with Samsungs now? Seems like a lot.

Welcome to Samsung lol and so far as long as you took OTA there is no root method, like I did.

ok thanks, I seen the warnings not to put the OTA on, but stock roms are pretty much good for me the only reason I switched form that 3 year old HTC DNA was that the battery was dying out pretty fast now when playing games on it. Had to get back to something with a swappable battery.

That is always a plus, having a removable battery that is. The OTA isn't terrible but they could have weeded out some of the bloat -_-

Best way is by using Debloater tool for PC

Rooting photon worth it?

Ok I have had my photon for a few months now and I am coming from a evo and a hero before that. Those phones needed to be rooted to get the best out of them. I was looking around the development section and while I know there isn't a lot of roms, I just wanted to get everyone's opinion on rooting. I really have no need for wireless tether, and while I would like to remove some of the bloat, I just don't know if its worth it on this phone.
Just throwing it out there to get some input from other photon users.
Thanks guys
For me, it was worth it just to run an adblocker. That's all I use it for.
It's a very fast and easy process.
The photon runs great as it is, but like willysp said just the ability to use adfree makes it worth it.. and of course if you like modifying little things here and there to make the device more yours
And to me was actually the easiest device I have rooted thanks to the one click root script.
There's a couple of other ways to root it but that was the first I found.
I came from Hero and EVO as well. This phone is great as it is. No need to do anything else. I have to said beside Nokia, Motorola is the best phone in term of reception.
Which method did you use? Did you flash a rom after rooting or did you just keep it stock and just use ad blocker?

I root for adfree and LED's hack mainly but also quite a few other that I can't think of. Editing the build.prop is also a huge plus gotta have my GAMELOFT fix lol
You can use the one click method which takes 5 minutes.
One good reason to root is to use SetCPU, which easily doubles your battery life by letting the CPU slow down when not in use.
So what is the process? Root and then flash a custom recovery? I just need a step by step of what to do.completely forgot about setcpu. But don't you have to have a custom kernel in order to use setcpu?

That's incorrect.
SetCPU requires more than root. Needs a custom kernel, which requires unlocking. And we don't have a fully functioning unlocker.

Slowing down your CPU (underclocking) doesn't save any battery life, undervolting however does.
And yes a custom kernel is required to undervolt and to flash one we need to unlock the bootloader.

Isn't the bootloader unlocked, but 4G is borked?
The bootloader is perfectly fine, the 4g issue is because sprints security keys for wimax look at the bootloader state. Not even the official test phones have 4g.

Yes, it was leaked awhile ago.
If you want screen shots take a look at your phone now. Because there isn't much difference between this and 6.12.173. Nothing obvious anyways. I've been running it for awhile.

Just rooted yesterday. Just worried cuz there is no unroot method to date. If there is an update, we may not be able to take it. Is it true that it might brick our rooted phone if we take an update?

I had problems restoring saved WiFi access point data on my Nexus S when going from Gingerbread to ICS. If you're up to the challenge, you can easily open the backup in a text editor. If you hadn't set the backups to be encrypted that is.
Then on the GS3, with WiFi off, copy and paste the values into the following file:
/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
You can use Root Explorer or something similar. If you run into any issues, just go ahead and delete the file. It'll get recreated automatically on reboot. Good luck!

I havent but its only because I really dont see a reason to at this point. As soon as there are some nice custom ROMs, Ill be hanging in the dev section as well. I just dont see the need to root for the sake of having root at this point.
Did mine on Sat. It is nice to be able to remove a bunch of the bloatware.

[Q}Storage space and App2sys

First, in looking through the phone storage, 32g, I see a spot marked "other". It started out at 6g being used and is now up to 10. What is the deal with that and how do I clean it up? I've already removed most of the bloatware, but I have a feeling this is Rom related.
Second: Using Rom Toolbox I try to move certain apps to system from data, mainly my Power Toggle app. I get it moved but then I have to go back in and re-enable the notification widget portion of it. No big there. But after a reboot, the app completely disappears from the phone so I have to reinstall it from Play. Might this have anything to do with the S-on? Or is this related to it being the stock rom and not a custom?
Some ideas would be much appreciated/

Android Pay on Rooted LG V10

Disabling Super SU and OEM Unlock checkboxes let me add my card without restart but it will not work at checkout even with restart. It beeps but gives me an error that says something about not being able to verify security or something.
Any ideas?
I have LG-H901 (T-Mobile V10), bootloader unlocked, rooted w/ TWRP and Super SU installed. Factory ROM has not been changed. Only other changes is using Ti Backup to uninstall bloatware including T-Mobile My Account and com.tmobile.pr.adapt.
Or, could I set-up my stock ROM the way I want it, then unroot so I can use AP?
I've already deleted all the bloatware and everything is working really well. I dont see a reason to stay rooted all the time.

Yes you only need root at all times if you want xposed and use greenify, servicely ect.. But if you just wanted to debloat then it is not necessary to keep root... Unroot with SuoerSU, uncheck OEM unlock and reboot... That should fix you up...
Not every reader is active though... Try places that you know have previously worked with Android Pay

Yes, that's why I had suggested going somewhere you are 100 percent positive it works. It verified the security too add the card, so go to McDonald's, somewhere you know with confidence it works.. It may be the terminal you tried to use it at
Edit* only thing you could try next is relock the bootloader, unchecking OEM doesn't relock the bootloader

Yup, the V10 is a very unique device. It doesnt show up in the recognized devices in the TWRP app either.
