Android Pay on Rooted LG V10 - LG V10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Disabling Super SU and OEM Unlock checkboxes let me add my card without restart but it will not work at checkout even with restart. It beeps but gives me an error that says something about not being able to verify security or something.
Any ideas?
I have LG-H901 (T-Mobile V10), bootloader unlocked, rooted w/ TWRP and Super SU installed. Factory ROM has not been changed. Only other changes is using Ti Backup to uninstall bloatware including T-Mobile My Account and com.tmobile.pr.adapt.

Or, could I set-up my stock ROM the way I want it, then unroot so I can use AP?
I've already deleted all the bloatware and everything is working really well. I dont see a reason to stay rooted all the time.

Yes you only need root at all times if you want xposed and use greenify, servicely ect.. But if you just wanted to debloat then it is not necessary to keep root... Unroot with SuoerSU, uncheck OEM unlock and reboot... That should fix you up...
Not every reader is active though... Try places that you know have previously worked with Android Pay

Yes, that's why I had suggested going somewhere you are 100 percent positive it works. It verified the security too add the card, so go to McDonald's, somewhere you know with confidence it works.. It may be the terminal you tried to use it at
Edit* only thing you could try next is relock the bootloader, unchecking OEM doesn't relock the bootloader

I know I can't find any information on it as well. This phone is like a ghost, it exists, but the carrier doesn't treat it like that, no marshmallow information like the G4

Yup, the V10 is a very unique device. It doesnt show up in the recognized devices in the TWRP app either. I never thought I would find a phone I liked better than my G3 and now I feel like the V10 makes it look like a cheap little toy. The V10 is such a beautiful, powerful and somewhat enigmatic device imho

It's sort of a trade-off. On one hand there is less support. On the other, our device is more unique and sexy

Thanks a bunch!
Can someone help a noob with this? Just want to make sure I get this right and don't pooch something:
I have GB, rooted, Revolutionary s-off.
- Download the file to /mnt/sdcard/
- Boot into Recovery, and choose "install zip from sdcard"
- select the zip and done?
Is that all?
Edit: Just took the plunge and did this. Thx OP
Thanks, will try this tonight. I was so hoping to get rid of that activation nag.
Thank you very much my man, just what I needed.

This works perfectly.
I accidentally found another way around this... Over the last weekend I somehow enabled my 4G radio. When I opened my browser I was redirected to https://deviceselfservice.sprint.com/dsa/4gportal/welcome.actiob.c... (URL shortened) So I did a little googling and found that you can get one day of free service on 3G/4G by using the promo code Free Day (it is case sensitive)... After a reboot, my tablet was able to activate with no issues and since the trial expiration, I haven't been bugged about it since.
So... If you aren't rooted and don't feel like taking the plunge, you can get rid of the nag screen this way.
been trying that free day code, not working for me.
Googled it as well and it is the right code, but cannot get it to work.
Did you type it all as one word? Capital F and D?
Just did the fix and it worked, quick and easy to do.
Thanks

umm no one else has any problems. You need to be rooted for it to work since it removes a system file. If something is screwed up you did something wrong. There have been hundreds of downloads of this zip and you're the first that's claiming it's not working.

pbanj, I'm pretty sure jwzg was aware of what the ZIP does, but that he (just like me) is curious to learn what the actual internal changes to the system partition are, and if the same effect can be achieved manually e.g. via "adb shell".

why do we need to unlock bootloader to root?

sorry im just a little confused. ive had multiple android devices all which have been rooted and not all of them have had the bootloader unlocked. now this is my first htc product so im not really familiar with s-off. but i bought this phone thinking there were going to be lots of devs and everything working on it and this has killed my plans . i know patience is a virtue . i was just curious. i mean droid razrs have plenty of roms available and they are still on a locked bootloader
It all has to do with the exploit used to root the device. HTC has to have an unlocked bootloader so that you can use the bootloader to write the root files to the system folder.

I'd like to know why you thought this was going to be a huge dev phone.
I have the exact opposite feeling.
I wish this were going to be a huge dev phone. My original Dinc already has 2 mostly fully functional Jellybean ROMs available. That community is still strong.

same way, let it off for awhile then try if it doesn't pull battery and then try, it works
And turn off fast boot in Settings/Power.
i ended up rebooting, and just holding the power + volume down. that worked for me
to answer the og poster
if you have an unlocked b/l you can flash a custom recovery img which allows you to then flash a root package in that recovery
there is no current working exploit manually root the stock rom otherwise
Hmm. I just got the blank email from HTC. I hadn't yet tried unlocking today, and received it after 9pm. I tried, but it was to no avail. I was hoping HTC was secretly sending out emails for those who had repeatedly tried, trying to help them out.

[Q] Cannot Root Please Help

Hi I am having some issues and I have tried searching and have tried a few things but I am unable to get my motorola atrix to root.
I tried Super One Click it says killing adb server then starting then it ends up not responding.
I tried Motofail and it just hangs on waiting for device.
I also tried fastboot and had a similar experience.
I have debugging and non market apps ticked on the phone and the drivers installed from Motorola.
Does the phones need to be off or in recovery?
Please help.
Thanks.

Hi thanks for the reply but that top "one click method" has a broken link.
I think nothing is working because I had multiple ADB.EXE on my computer I deleted them all but the on in the superoneclick folder but still not luck.
This is frustrating I didn't have any problems before and it seems that all the threads about rooting the atrix are very old and all the links are broken.
Any other ideas?
Cheers.
Did you try the second method? The preinstall method? That's why I gave the link to that thread. You already mentioned that super one click doesn't work

the link for the adb fastboot is down
I am using my own fastboot. It just hangs on waiting for device. I do not have adb.exe in the folder like in the link you sent.
Should I be able to see my ADB device in my device manager because it says CASUAL's usb devices.
Try to uninstall (not just delete) all android and motorola related software, reboot the computer and use ccleaner to clean the crap left behind by those, also check the registry to make sure they didn't left anything there. Once done, try those steps, and redownload ecerything you need, in case downloads were corrupted. Also, for fastboot I think it's better to use moto-fastboot than regular one

What is casuals usb device? its definitely the phone I have no idea how that driver got on there. will uninstall from the device manager. I just need to see Motorola ADB device installed! Grrr
Thanks.
I feel like a total idiot!
All I did was un install the casual's usb device driver from the device manager, I ticked the box that says to delete the driver. Then I unplugged the phone and plugged it back in. BAM picked up the adb driver and installed now it seems that super one click is working but I will let you know when it is done. IT WORKS!
I was very overwhelmed and going around in circles, at last I got my head together!
Now I need to get a custom recovery on it and I can finally get a decent custom rom.
I know everyone hates this questions but what is a good rrom? I am looking for total stability I want the HDMI out to work and good battery life I dont care about any fancy features. Just rock solid stability.
I hope you guys can continue to give the great support you have been!

I am so relieved I had a atrix years ago and missed it ever since, I used to have fund changing roms all the time and I really wanted to get that phone back so I bought one with a broken digitizer and after breaking one new digitizer I managed to fit it! Now I have finally got a custom rom on there and everything is much better I am so happy.
I think this is still one of the best phones out there.
Thanks everyone for your help I feel like its xmas morning. Well actually much better because I got something useful and had to put work into it to get it!
Happy new year!!!

Play Store and all the other google apps are not available in the official CM roms by default. you have the flash a second package (GAPPS Package) to have these apps. Go to http://goo.im/gapps and download the right gapps package for your room. in this case the CM 7.1-2.x 2.3.5-7 package

Have MROM and installed GAPPS its epic thats great thank you both so much
Sorry one more thing guys. One of the original issues that made me want to root and install a custom rom was that once I unlocked my phone to all carriers (which I paid for officially) my RAM was reduced to 375mb, now it has improved and is at 490mb available out of 815mb total.
(says this in the "about phone" section).
Do you guys know how to get the full 1GB of RAM? I would like to be able to run some pretty intensive apps on here.
Thanks.

Hey dude thanks for the link but I tried to install it on my phone with recovery and it hasn't changed anything still: 461mb/815mb ram...
hmmm...
I read some ROMS have the ram fix built in I guess not MROM?
And I read its a Kernal issue maybe I can install a different Kernal?
Thanks.
815mb is the full ram. You never get the full 1gb even on stock. I could be wrong but I believe 815mb is the most we can get. On cm 10.1 I get in the early 700mb

That sounds about right phone reserves the rest for core drives and operating system. what you see taken up from the 8** is the apps installed that are running. If you install the full batch of gapps can lose 400mb of ram. In most cases this isnt a problem unless you runn graphic intense games then you might want to limit what gapps get installed to only what you'll use.
Nope. If you take a closer look at initrd, you will see that the rest is assigned to video.

win 7 doesnt recognize device

Ive had this problem ever since verizon updated me to 4.3
Im wanting to root my phone and install a custom rom and move it to straight talk but how can i safely do anything when my pc hardly ever recognizes my phone?
Ive tried the usb that came with my note 2, tried 2 other usb cables that came with s3's
Tried every usb port on the computer
tried uninstalling keis
uninstalling samsung driver
reinstalling driver
reinstalling keis
rebooting while plugged in
nothing works.
My pc recognizes every other phone i plug into it.... im so fedup with this.
Any ideas?
A couple basic questions. Have you tried a separate PC? Do you have USB debugging enabled? Do you get any indication of your phone being charged when plugged into a port? Can you plug into a wall fine? Lastly what are you planning to do transfer files etc?

Look around some of the threads I remember a few people conforming a couple root methods. Too tired to go thread searching right now though. Removing bloat with just root works alright but you have to be more careful than someone who is unlocked would have to be. As for selling I can't fine much insight on that unfortunately.

I bought this phone and got on a family members plan, was on it for a year and always paid my part but now she owes a bunch to verizon and is letting the account get shut down.
I know that the phone is carrier unlocked and planned on putting my straight talk sim in and setting my apn. Will this work or will verizon be able to put a lock on my phone?
I know this is thin ice territory but i paid 300 on this phone and now loosing service because she didnt pay her part of the bill, id rather just move the phone to straight talk , is there any foreseeable issues with this plan?

Debloat without root or temp root?

Is there a way to debloat the completely stock rom without rooting, or is there a way to temp root a device just to debloat and then put it back to normal?
Sorry for newbie questions, I've been on an HTC for the past 3 years and haven't messed with any Samsung stuff since before then.

ok thanks, I seen the warnings not to put the OTA on, but stock roms are pretty much good for me the only reason I switched form that 3 year old HTC DNA was that the battery was dying out pretty fast now when playing games on it. Had to get back to something with a swappable battery.

That is always a plus, having a removable battery that is. The OTA isn't terrible but they could have weeded out some of the bloat -_-
Best way is by using Debloater tool for PC
