[Q] Front camera lags - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does the front camera lags on your s6 edge? Mine lags, with the camera view runs slowly. I'm not sure how to explain the 'lag', but try changing it to wide-screen selfie and see if there is a difference? Wide-screen selfie works without lag for me, I can see the screen moving smoothly, but on normal selfie, it works slowly especially during low light condition (I noticed that night mode is on automatically).

Have the same problem. Also some of the pictures are overexposed on auto, without a reason. And in an hour it is all fine.

Never have the overexposed issue so far. Your front camera lags occasionally or all the time?

Turn off beauty mode?

Same problem it lags on normal mode with no effect
In wide mode lag disappears.

[Q] Video frame rate issue

I'm having weird issues with video recording. If I start filming in bright light, the frame rate is abysmal (about 2 fps). In normal room lighting there is no problem and the frame rate is good enough.
The weird part is that if I start recording in the room light and step out side to very bright day light, the frame rate stays good. And if I start in bright light with bad fps it stays bad no matter the lighting.
Anyone else having this issue?
edit: my phone is stock and is running OS version 7.10.7740.16
Hmmm, my phone has the same configuration as yours: Stock rom and everything. I tried what you said, recording from bright light to room & vice versa, but my transitions seem to be smooth with no lags :/ I believe your camera is on it's default settings?
When in camera mode, try panning the camera from bright light to dim & vice versa, see if there are any lags of choppiness in between the transition. If there isn't, there shouldn't be any problems. If there is, I'm not sure what's causing it.
Does anyone here has had this issue as well?
I've tried to do just like you told and I have some example videos but I can't link to them as I'm new member (joined 2008, never written anything before
Couple a days I did some filming outside and I had to start recording by covering the lens with my finger every time to get normal fps. This way it works fine and I get good quality.
I don't know if it has something to do with that there's really bright outside during day because all the snow here but I can also replicate the problem by pointing camera to my monitor.
This is new issue for me too as it was working fine untill now.
btw. It seems to work fine if I use VGA quality.
I just hope I don't have to reset my phone.
Hmmm, I guess no else has had this problem. But this is a really unique one since VGA works, there's no reason why 720p isn't working. Perhaps bringing the phone to the service center might be of help? :/

Hi joaquim! Dont feel lonely, i also have this problem on my mozart phone. I've made a search on youtube, and i also noted that there are several users with the same problem.
I also have another problem, it gets difficult to change from the phone mode to video mode. Every time i press the cam icon to change the mode to video, i hear some clicks inside the phone and the imagem starts to focus. I have to click several times until i can change the mode.
Also, i see no solution for this
your not alone i have this problem too and it happened on my stock rom and even now on the latest custom rom that i installed. I have not tried the finger trick though.
I also tried doing some searching and the only thing i found pointed at possible sd card issues...i have swapped out the deafault 8gb sdcard for a 16gb one and they state that if it is not class 5/6 then it could be too slow writing 720p data.
but like you i have no problem recording 720p indoors just outside or in bright light....
I have noticed that this only occurs in 720p mode, in VGA mode works fine though

-==]GUIDE / HTC One X camera bug / glitch / BETTER NIGHT PHOTOS for for 200/300%[=--

Hey guys i found this bug on HTC One X , not sure will it work for HoX + , anyway it should , same camera sensor etc. Give it a try
Hey guys this is HTC One X GREAT camera BUG i found recently.

Ok so anyway i found this bug when i was compering S3 vs HoX in deep , for those who missed it you can find it here

As for the bug with camera :
1st how does this bug works:
Simply , it gets stuck between scenes which i found accidentally while comparing HoX Vs My cousins s3 lol.
Anyway to be more specific it uses 2 scenes at the same time which provides great photos @ night , probably best 2012 phone @ day and Night INDEED is HOX. and i'll dare to say it comes close to HTC One with this Bug.
Important: this bug works ONLY with SENSE ( maybe miue roms as well ) and i found this bug on 3.18 base ( also working with 3.19 base ) for those still on ICS idk would it work there or at lower bases probably does.
How to use this BUG/GLITCH:
Outdoors night photos
> Open camera
> Turn off flash
> Chose NIGHT scene
> Chose HDR mode
Click to collapse
> Take a photo
This bug will add you an extra 100-300% more light to your photos. For even MORE light i'd say 50/100% more light do this:
After taking the photo , go to gallery>edit and AUTO ENCHANT it.
NOTE:
After this if you see boost in your display regarding brightness = bug is applied. Take a pic but be VERY VERY STEADY , even little movement will f[email protected] up the photo.
NOTE:
If you don't see improvement from the start you gotta REPEAT the process , sometimes it takes more then 1 time to get this bug working.
Also you must notice this: When you apply NIGHT scene you should see CAMERA being LAGGY when moving , after switching to HDR if it stays laggy and gives more light = bug is working 100%
For indoor photos with bug
> Turn ON flash ( not auto but ON )
> Chose NIGHT scene
> Chose HDR mode
> Take a photo
NOTE:
If you're using Underclocked CPU i'd suggest you use minimum 1300mhz quad core, with less speed shutter isn't fast enough to catch the light with HDR
BUG with FLASH - 50%-150% more light then normal flash light photos:
Ok this bug works similar as first one.
> Open camera
> Turn ON flash
> Chose NIGHT scene
> Switch to BACKLIGHT scene
> Take a photo
Note:
When you switch to NIGHT mode you should see your camera being LAGGY , after switching to BACKLIGHT scene if your camera stays laggy = bug is working.
TIPS:
1. Try to be still when taking photos especially with HDR BUG.
2. For more light use after taking the picture gallery effects - auto enchance , with picassa / instagram you can modify them even more to be even better.

IMPORTANT
Q) Will this bug crash/kill my camera ?
A) I don't know , i've been using it for over 2 weeks now everything is working as it should.
If you guys gonna use this BUG would be nice if you could upload some samples as well
So NOTE if you gonna use this bug you use it at your OWN RISK so don't blame me if you [email protected] up your camera.
Thx to Hamdir for testing my bug and providing us professional comparison.
Also thx to neuTrue for enchanting one of my photos to show us what we can do with some more software
These pics were taken around 8-9PM And on the 1st pic you can see how i saw at night with my eyes.
Normal - ( this is how i saw with my eyes outside )
Night scene
HDR+ Night
MODIFIED via photoshop, you can do pretty much same with gallery effects or instagram/picassa

HTC One X: Hidden Low Light Abilities (Firmware 3.19.401.1)
Did you guys know the One X has night vision abilities? check this out
Ordinarily the Flash can be used but it casts the photo in blue plus add abnormal shadows, at least you can counter the blue by setting the white balance to Fluorescent before taking the photo
The included Night scene is not as effective, it forbids the Flash, it locks to ISO 1250 and cuts the shutter speed in half for more exposure time, sadly the results are often bad and not useful
But then for very low light and still photos, there is a revelation that is the HDR mode, especially when combined with auto flash it can do wonders, auto flash will smartly use two quick flash bursts to get better exposures for HDR, surprisingly auto flash with HDR does not cast shadows neither does it tint the screen
Finally a bug discovered by Shan89, switch to Night mode and then immediatly back to HDR mode, the shutter will get stuck in slow mode collecting even more light, you can also combine auto flash for killer results!
The bug mode is highlighted below with an *
keep in mind the shutter will be very slow at this point and you need to be very still until the word "processing" appears on screen (to counter motion blur),
Equally the resulting photo will fail to record the correct shutter speed since it's a bug after all
Some of the following results were brighter than my own eyes

Lol did anyone test this on HoX + ? Can someone confirm it working ?
I'll be giving the trick in this thread a try later tonight, I'll report back.
Thanks to the OP for sharing this trick with us, hopefully it pans out to some goodness!

Np mate, hope it works for you guys as well :good:
As I've said a long time ago, it doesn't work on the HOX+, it becomes darker when switching from night to hdr, so the bug doesn't work. Pictures taken with night mode is brighter than the hdr switched from night mode. Maybe someone else can try it
Edit: wait, I think I got it working
Edit 2: dang it, only worked once and not anymore... Tried like 10 times and can't make it work. It's so much easier on the HOX
Edit 3: looks like it's only a matter of luck... Got it working for a few more times

Damn , well key point is to do this when is night , the best scenario for this bug is when is twilight and a bit more darker , then chose night scene and switch to HDR , it should apply after 1-2 trys , we on hox get it working almost every single time, you might wanna try reducing CPU max speed , if you use 1700 lower it to 1300/1500 , it might work better since CPU will be slower and give you more time to apply the bug, also on hox once you apply the bug it'll stay that way untill you take a picture or untill you move on bright area.
EDIT: Added 2 more that were missing from hamdir

I did the testing in midnight, outdoors with a few streetlights. I used the power saver to reduce cpu to 1300mhz. My HOX+ is fully stock so I can't do much to it. I think the chance of getting it to work is like 30%....

I'll post some samples tonight so we can all compare.

V10 back camera won't focus auto or manual

So I got the V10 on T-Mobile the day it was announced that the bootloader was factory unlockable. I love it so far with one somewhat concerning exception (apart from the laughable battery life but *shrug*): the majority of the time when I try to use the back camera, I'm not able to focus it. In auto mode tapping to focus does nothing. In manual mode sliding the focus dial also does nothing. Third party camera apps won't focus either. I have to pull the battery and reboot and it *might* work then, and if it does it'll only work the first time I open the camera. Front cameras work fine and the focus on the back camera when it works is excellent. Has anybody else run into this or know if it's worth messing with or if I should just exchange it?
Also for clarification I was running the stock rom (rooted) but with very little frozen. Switched to black hole yesterday (triple wipe) which has been lightning fast so far but having the same issue.
Thanks!
Same
Got it last week and Ive been having the same problem. I dont have many apps but I do let my battery drain due to laziness. Thats the only bad thing I do. I'm thinking of exchanging it because ive also messed with all the settings in the manual camera and nothing. Its set to a very close 1 inch distance to focus well. Front camera works marvelous.

Yeah close focus is exactly the problem. I can take passable pictures of stuff right in front of me by physically moving the phone closer and further until it's in focus but that's useless. I'm going to go by the T-Mobile store this evening or tomorrow and see what they say.

Autofocus/Manual Focus Issues

Recently, in all camera apps my G5's auto focus doesn't work properly and keeps the scene blurry. It sometimes works for a second and then turns back blurry. The manual focus used to be able to work but now, it doesn't change anything. Any tips?
Sounds like a possible hardware issue. Have you dropped or done anything to the phone ?

Question Camera stutter in low light?

Hi everyone,
Just got the phone and it's amazing but one thing is bothering me. Last night I opened the camera and wanted to take some photos in dark and the camera (on screen preview) was stuttering like it's low FPS. The photo turns out great it's just the stutter that's worrying me. Is that normal? When I for example lock the AF to something and turn up the ''sun'' icon it raises the FPS and there is much less stuttering. Is that normal?
Thanks in advance
anyone? is my phone bad?

No, but in low light the phone needs to take a lot of photos, then it combines them in a specific way, and that could be slow.
thanks a lot
