So I have noticed that when I take screenshots they are being backed up to Google automatically. When I go into the Google photos app I can see that the screenshots are being put into the camera folder, which I have set to autobackup. In the Samsung gallery app they are in different folders, which is how they should be
Anyone else having this issue?

I got a Galaxy S3 (International Edition) just yesterday
I enabled it to pull stuff from my google accounts, but then when I'm going to open the contacts, I see a bunch of my gmail contacts
How can I remove those from the phone? Selecting to display 'only contacts with phones' seems to fix it, but the email contacts are still available to be seen if one goes to settings and sets to display all contacts again
The same happens with the gallery application, it has like one album for each image I've ever published in Google+, I can set it to display only images from the phone, but then this is not a permanent setting, everytime I exit the Gallery app and re-enter it, it will display all the images from G+ (and I've heard that it will scan the microSD at launch for images, so it will become a clutter of every possible image it can find in the SD)
I have now disabled the sync of google contacts / g+ stuff to the phone, from settings -> accounts and sync -> uncheck sync google photos/google+/picasa web albums/contacts, so it doesn't pull down new stuff anymore, but the old stuff is still there
Is there any way to remove that?
Is there a good gallery app that will not scan the whole SD for media, nor will pull stuff from picasa/google+?
Thanks!
quick pic is the gallery app for you, you can select which folders to see, or just long press a folder and hit exclude

I'm also using quick pic and happy with it. Simple but does the work better then stock gallery app.

Now just delete local files and you should be fine.
If you have a lot of them I would suggest to use File Browser such as ASTRO.
My auto backup is turned on for Google Photos. Any pictures I take on my phone automatically get uploaded to my Google Photos online. If I go through my Gallery app (not my Photos app) and delete pics, will they also be deleted from my Google Photos online next time I sync?

Funny how no one has addressed this yet. People are fooled by the numerous videos on Youtube on how to remove the photos. But all those videos show the exact same instructions which only remove the photos from syncing to that device. It does not delete them. Once you buy a new phone, those photos will show up again.
I would like to know where they are coming from..
Hi all, I'm trying to delete my photos on my device which already backed up in Google Photos. When I open the app on my phone and tap free up space it keeps saying no items to remove. I can see all the photos in Google photos but I can't delete the device copy from my phone.
Any suggestions? cheers
I figured out that when you open the app from your phone you need to go to device folders tab and delete all the photos from there, that soved the issue.
Mods please close the thread.
Cheers
Hoping you can help
Ideally I want to be able to fix all issues on the phone itself without the need to connect to a laptop.
1. Phone clone worked but didn't transfer my pictures in album just in one big gallery? How can I get back into albums?
2. All photos repeat in both Huawei gallery and Google photos as default? I only need one. Can you just delete the other?
3. Big issue: all my music artwork shows up in my photo gallery so I have thousands of albums covers mixed in with my normal photos. It takes ages searching through my photos. I don't want to see any music artwork in my photo albums just on the music app when I play music. How can I hide this simply? It's for driving me mad! I don't understand the terminology around creating a no media file etc.
4. With Huawei mail how do you restore deleted emails to inbox. Doesn't seem to give the option but the trash button is where the reply button is on iPhone so easy deleted!
5. I deleted the Huawei alarm and weather by accident and they are no where to be seen in the play store. Surely there is an easy way to restore other than factory reset!?
Thanks
First of all. Welcome to the android side! I am not too sure of your first few questions as I never had them before.
As for the alarm and weather app. Have you tried finding them on the hauwei app gallery? If it is not there. Then you may have to do a factory reset. Or if there are any ADB methods you can try
Sorry that I am not of much help.
1: I don't know how Albums are organized in iPhone, but in Google photos they are just labels, all photos are present in the gallery, even if they are labeled in an album (I don't use Huawei gallery, only Google Photos).
2: I don't know exactly what you mean, but Gallery and Google Photos are most probably collecting the photos from one location, if you delete the photos in one app, they are most probable deleted in the other one. I backup all my photos with Google Photos. But if you want to get rid of one of the apps, I haven't but I just use Google Photos.
3: an empty .nomedia file in a specific folder prevents the folder to be scanned by the gallery or Google Photos, there is probable a file like this in Local Storage > Android > Data folder, go see File manager (in settings enable hidden files) and look for a .nomedia file and copy it to the Album Artwork folder.
4: I don't use Huawei mail, just Gmail.
5: I know Weather is nowhere available online (had the same issue), hard reset is probably the only way.
My Samsung automatically stores all Screenshots in Samsung Gallery Screenshots folder.
Is there a way for these to be automatically stored in Google Photos App Screenshots folder? I have already selected Google Photos Screenshots as a Back up and sync device folder but it is not saving any Screenshots at all.
Can anyone assist me please?
Cheers
Phil
There are two points to make here.
Samsung stores screenshots under DCIM/Screenshots whereas Google expects them to be in Pictures/Screenshots. There is no setting to change where Samsung saves screenshots so there is no way to adjust this. You can manually copy all files between the two folders and it will then sync how you wish but you would need to do that yourself on a regular basis.
Because Samsung stores them in the DCIM folder, this whole folder should be backed up by Google and so your screenshots will actually be backed up, just not in the place you want them to be.
There may be some obscure way of changing it if you're rooted but I dont know it and a quick Google brings up nothing obvious. Sorry.
