Root App used...? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

The root gaining apps that I have heard are:
1. Framaroot
2. Kingoroot
3. Easyroot
As mentioned in comments!!
4. Towelroot
5. Vroot
6. One click root
7. Stump root
8. Gingerbreak
9. Cydia impactor (pc)
10. LG one click root (pc)
11. Ping pong root
Is there any other app also...?
Just post in case you know a new one....!!!
#GainRoot

Towelroot, vroot (banned from XDA), kingoroot

@ayushbpl10 @utsha.saha.58
Stump root
Gingerbreak
Cydia impactor (pc)
LG one click root (pc)
Ping pong root
And many many more!

I tried both Framaroot and Towelroot on my new device but none worked because the exploits they use do not work for the latest Androids. Is there such an app for Android KitKat?

I know how to root after unlocking the bootloader, but it's always a bit risky and lengthy. Using root apps can be a very good alternative for the layman who can be afraid of the risks of usual methods (even if they are quite low, I agree, but people generally just want something fast that works without a hitch).

U should just look for a way of rooting your device by searching the method to root it. Its also true that there is always some risk of getting things wrong but if u want to enjoy your device to its fullest then giving a try is worth it.

Indeed after a quick google search, I have found some. But are they really working? The webpages look rather like amateurish (nor geekish, really amateur), aren't they scam? (did someone try such a tool for KitKat?)

Lollipop root!?

Came across this http://www.oneclickroot.com/device/samsung-galaxy-s4-verizon-lollipop/ but don't have a S4 to test on. My buddy has one but is hesitant to try it. Don't know if it's legit or not. Anyone brave enough to try?
If someone does try it obviously let us know if it works.
I'm not responsible for any adverse effects, I'm just throwing this out there to see if someone with an S4 wants to try it and let us all know how it worked.
If nobody has tried by the time I get off work (10pm est) I'll try this tonight.
This looks sketchy as hell. The fact that they don't even show a Galaxy S4 on that page has me cautious.

We used to have towelroot. Then he had to stop development for personal reasons.
I just used KingRoot to root in like 2 minutes just after updating to Lollipop. I don't know why this isn't easier to find.
Kingroot does work to obtain root on galaxy s4 that was upgraded to OC1. I was able to obtain root and then used Super-sume to remove kinguser and install SuperSU and keep root

Is there a way to root LG Volt 2

I just bought my LG Volt 2 a month ago, and I'm ready to make it MINE! Unfortunately, I think this phone is too new, because I can't find anything helpful on how to root it. I tried "kingroot" and after it did a few things, it said I was successfully rooted. BUT, when I started up "SuperSU" it says it has to download some things, and its never successful and informs me to restart my phone and to press the restart tab. When I press the restart tab, it says "attempting to restart phone" but it can't. I'm on the 5.1.1 operating system, and using an LG Volt 2 (LGLS751). Is there any advise out there that someone can offer me? Am I REALLY rooted? Has anyone successfully rooted this phone yet? If so please tell me where I can find the steps. I have faith that my XDA community will pull through. Thanks everyone!
Kingroot
not sure if you are still having issues but I use Kingroot for mine.

Considering this is an open community, why not just post your method for finding root here like everyone else does. Then we can verify your method through duplication. We can also test your methods using different firmware versions, different scenarios (such as from stock, from partially rooted by one-click methods, from bricked, etc.).
I myself just acquired an LS751. No battery, but that is an easy fix. No FRP, so that will not be an issue. I know the person who originally owned it anyways. This phone has great potential. Please share your method so we may all benefit. We will definitely give you the full credit if your method can be verified or refined to a validated method.
I know I am quiet guys, but I have been around for a very long time in these forums. I remember when I fumbled my way into getting a Motorola Atrix 2 ROM to work on an original Motorola Atrix. I wish now I had published my methods and dealings, for the collaboration of developers in these forums brings about the greatness we see in Dirty Unicorns (Which was the ROM I used, I believe it was AOKP at the time though), Paranoid Android, etc. My experimentation would have accelerated the development process.
Please do share your findings and let us all help in developing and refining methods.

Super Simple Root Method for 35B Update!!!

After reading a post saying that there is no known root method for 35b, I set out to find one.
I am surprised to find out that rooting actually takes only five minutes, and does not require a computer.
You only need to go to http://kingroot.net/wap/ on your phone, scroll to the bottom, click download, make sure Settings -> Unknown sources is enabled, and install KingRoot apk when it is done downloading.
Open the app, scroll down until you see the 'Try it' button, click it, wait for the app to connect to its server, and press the big round button.
The app roots your phone and provides root access management without reboot. Enjoy!!!
Please contact me if you have any concerns.

Edit 1:
The Kingroot one-click-root application does not exist on the Play Store! Such rooting tools are considered malware/viruses for running exploits and are a violation of the guidelines and not permitted! The tool is safe, however; dont worry about it too much. The Kingroot and similarly named apps on the Play Store are fakes and do not do much of anything, hence the crappy reviews. Stop looking on the Play Store. That is entirely misleading.

Pardon my noobyness, but is there any chance of bricking with this method? I use my G3 as my daily driver, and if it gets screwed up, i'm toast...

Yes you can root 35b with kingroot and use SuperSume pro paid app or this guide to remove kingroot. If you do this you will still have stock recovery though so my advice is to keep reading and decide what you need/want to do.

But i really dont like the idea of using kingroot after i looked it up on playstore man im really confused here, you guys say its fine and works while the user reviews on all of the kingroot named apps say the app is useless.

Likewise, im just as hesitant as you are buddy I tried searching for the kingroot app on playstore, there were quite a few with the name so i decided to just give a look at all of them, and all of them had mostly negative reviews how it would stop at 90% and some of the users complained how their devices got bricked. This made me hesitant to proceed further with the app.
I will edit the post to steer you clear of some misunderstandings about Kingroot. Please read again, everyone.

I can confirm that this method works on 35B. I rooted last night, and it seems to be working okay. Although after trying my first root program, the phone got significantly hot. It also rebooted once. But after that it seemed to work fine, it just gets a little warm when using a root app. I think its because i chickened out and closed kingroot during the root process, causing the root to be just a tad messed up. An hour later i opened up kingroot again to fully root it and it was already rooted.
I am buying a new phone today, considering the G3 from verizon. My question is will it come with the 35B or the 46A update, and if it comes with the 46A update does this method still work? Sorry for my lack of knowledge, have never rooted a phone before but recently became interested. Thanks for any help
Worked perfect for me according to root checker
Worked flawlessly, rooted with Kingroot, then installed and ran Supersume Pro. Now fully rooted 5.1.1 with Supersu, not a trace of Kingroot left!
Working!
I confirm that work with vs985 35b, I follow the step right now I want to install marshmallow

Best rooting application

While I have prior experience, my job now involves android software, and I was wondering which rooting application would be best for rooting pretty much all Android devices, and multiple times per hour.
Or, does it even matter? Should I just stick to King?

KingoRoot for PC is the most successful one till now, but it doesn't root Nogut roms yet, and there is no way to root Nogut Roms without flashing a custom recovery.
There is also iroot for PC, it's pretty much the same as KingoRoot.

Not really. Root is starting to require kernel hacks and the few like mentioned tend to install bloatware and tracking software on the device. While they are here xda doesn't advise their use.

That is a difficult question. The reason being is I only get nexus devices and devices that have unlocked bootloaders and kernel source. So root is a simple matter. For me. I would say that if it is not supported by supersu then I wouldn't bother with root.
On phone, Kingroot (Not Kingo) and on PC iRoot maybe for Chinese phones? But the best option always is to flash SUperSU as the former(s) does tend to use quite a lot of battery.

Are there any good root apps?

I can't find a worth root app... Is there smth on the market?
I believe you shouldn't use any one-click-root apps

Kingoroot, despite being allowed on XDA and captured as part of their root options threads is malware.
Do not use it.
Unlock your bootloader, flash twrp then flash magisk.
Considering how nowadys everything seems to revolve around "Flash TWRP via Fastboot and then flash SuperSu.zip"
... I fail to see why we'd need that anymore...
