Yes.
Because as far as I know the locked bootloader and unlocked bootloader are software stuffs (at least in most of the devices). And the software resides on a flash memory which is there on the phone's motherboard.
So if motherboard is changed then you have a locked bootloader.

Wonderful My phone is on service now, u see. And I suspect that they might have to change the motherboard, and since they can't turn the phone on now, they might not be able to check if my bootloader is locked or not, and I might still have warranty

Hi there is it possible to relock the boot loader for xperia mini? I unlocked it because i tried CM7. Now I am thinking of going bag to original firmware. Any help is appreciated!
If relocating is not possible, what should one do to get as close as possible back to the original firmware, is it still possible to get official upgrades?

Third, remember if you are doing it with official method, you will never able to receive FOTA or SEUS update, you can, but only by flashing from xda.
So since we did the unofficial method, After we update through SEUS the bootloader is still unlocked?
I don't know about that. Since the service info still says bootloader unlocking allowed, I think the phone thinks itself as still locked. Flashing from seus might rely more on drm instead of whether the bootloader as locked or not.

when service info says Bootloader unlock allowed: true, that means that it the bootloader is locked, but can be unlocked at will
as many devs say, unlocking the bootloader voids the warranty and bricks the phone when doing FOTA or SEUS
but there's a flashtool out there for us that will take care of it

You do know this method right? http://androidflip.com/unlock-xperia-phones-bootloader-without-losing-drm-data-track-id-working/ When using that method, it is unlocked but the report still says 'Bootloader unlock allowed: true'. So if you use this method (as what idareyou and me were doing back then) the phone thinks that it is still 'locked', even though it's unlocked.

Yeah. I can confirm that my bootloader is unlocked but it still says 'Bootloader unlock allowed:Yes'
I thought at first I wasn't succesful even though it went smoothly so I tried flashing custom Kernel and it was succesful.
I want to know if in the future if SE release their ICS and we update using SEUS the unlocked bootloader remains because believe me, I don't want to go through the same process again, I got electrecuted several time because I don't have test points, just a clip and copper wire.

Veimus from original thread confirm that seus do works and he can reflash the gingerbread from seus. Sm gt should be ok with ics, And with Sony confirms mo changes hm kernel. I think it will be Rom update only.

means that you can unlock the bootloader, BUT it does not say if the bootloader is locked/unlocked already

i have been using my OneX+ for a few months now and i honestly hate it. selling my GNexus was the biggest mistake i've made. everything, apart from the internal storage is worse on this phone and i literally have had enough of it. I want to sell it and get either a Nexus 4 or GSIII.
I have been looking around for tutorials etc, but havent really found anything solid and related to this phone. im sure it's an easy thing to do, so if anyone out there knows how to do it, can you please spend a few moments and explain it to me, i will be very greatfull!

I guess if u are trying to get rid of your one X+ u want to make it in somewhat original condition.
Then u need to relock your boatloader and then run the RUU to get you back to stock.
No one will know its been rooted except the boatloader will show relocked instaed of locked.
So search for RUU and relockong boatloader on the forums for the step by step.

well i know how to relock the bootloader, it's quite simple, but problem is, i ran the RUU exe and it failed to revert my phone to stock rom etc. although i didnt relock the bootloader before doing it, would that be why it failed?

Yeap, u must FIRST relock than run RUU.
Check sticked threads in general question (U will have full tutorial how to back to stock) - however in bootloader there will be RELOCKED status not LOCKED, so it will be clear visible that u`ve previously unlocked Your device - may cause problem with warranty)

thanks. im not worried about the warranty thing. i will sell it on ebay without it... and i believe HTC will still honor your warranty if the problem is not software related.
As far as I know u cannot return to LOCKED status after unlocking.

If the device says relocked and i need to send it in for a warranty will it be an issue
The Camera on my HOX+ is terrible, tried the MOD but doesn't help
HTC say i must send it in but don't want in case there's issues

Only reason i thought there was an issue was i've compared photos to an stock standard HTC one x and they much better than my plus when viewed on a pc screen or HDTV
When viewed at actually size the photos are terrible, even video recording stutters a bit, video isn't smooth
Sorry wrong thread to go on about the photo and video quality
But just wanted to know if i factory reset and make stock standard and return bootloader to relocked if HTC will still honor the warranty

My understanding is that unlock bootloader = void warranty. It wouldn't matter what you did after that. What a stupid policy - I just got my phone and now I'm afraid to root it. I desperately want to apply the BT call quality fix!

Hi.
I have some problems with my mini jack. When I plug headphones it sometimes work sometimes not. I think it is messed up. Phone still has waranity, so maybe they fix it.
My question is:
What I have to do before I leave my phone in service center?
Do I have to relock my bootloader or just flash stock ICS?
will they check software if phone has hardware problem?

You should relock the bootloader and restore drm keys of possible.
Relocking bootloader is a must as it is the first thing they check.
Relocking the bl should be enough but sometimes sony checks more deeper for the drm keys. So if you have backed up then restore your TA.
And you should flash the latest stock firmware.
They must probably will check bootloader status.
When my touchscreen wasnt working correctly, i just flashed ICS and relocked bootloader without restoring drm keys (i didnt backed it up when i unlocked). Apearrently they didn't checked the software and just sent me a new phone.
If you just relock the bootloader they can check the drm keys and will know you unlocked it before. But I don't see a reason why they will remove your warranty because of that, giving the fact that nothing software-wise can screw your headphone jack.

Depends on the employee who checks your phone. If he checks for drm keys then he knows that you unblocked your bootloader and your warranty is void.

Edit: And if I want to unlock it again after it return to me, the procedure is the same like 1st time unlocking?

Essentially, I'm screwed right? Not sure why I forgot to backup the TA first but I guess that's what I get for doing stuff without sleep.
Anyway, do I have any options whatsoever for restoring or getting a new TA partition? Would locking the bootloader and flashing a stock ftf help, or is all lost on that front?

I suggest to relock the bootloader before sending the defected unit. That way they may not notice the DRM keys are gone.
I wasn't aware they'd still honor the warranty for hardware so I was a bit worried about that... but then, even if they didn't I guess it's the price we pay for modding (and not making proper backups beforehand lol).
At any rate, I have yet to have a warranty issue (though this is my first sony phone) so hopefully that continues.

I am in the same situation like cjhmdm.
I bought it yesterday second hand and I discovered that the bootloader is unlocked so I don't have any TAbackup.

I'm going to buy a phone but there are two choices whether it's unlocked or locked. Which one is better? I see that unlocked smartphone are cheaper rather than locked one. If you are talking about carrier lock, then by all means, you want to buy an unlocked phone.
If you are talking about bootloader lock, then you most likely want to go for a locked phone, that way, you can use things such as warranty, should you need it.
