There are only unofficial 2.0/2.1 ROMs available at the moment, and most of them have some issues. For many, they are small enough that they can use these ROMs on a day to day basis, but for others they are not.
If you are a total noob to Android, and your ROM comes with a 2.73 build, I would leave it as it is for now until you get a bit more knowledgeable.

Since you are on PAYG, I take it you won't have much data allowance? If that's the case, you don't want anything with online maps. I use Copilot, which is paid app, but it's *very* cheap for what it is and I recommend it wholeheartedly.

Look around these forums for a while, especially the dev forum. Everything you need is here, and you'll get less flak from forum users if you take the time to find it yourself. Of course, if you run into problems post a question, but remember the mantra "search is your friend"!

Dave
Thanks alot for your responce i will try searching the reason i do ask though is not through laziness but i am really that stupid when it comes to technology hehe
I would find it and read it and still not have a clue but ty for your answers once more )
How do i check which if i have ROM 2.73 build ? and if its not i take it i would need to find and install that build somehow?
But yes as you said i am a total noob so i guess waiting untill the official 2.0 update is availible.
The copilot you suggest sounds good as thats the main thing i will probably use. Would you have a link to the cheapest or best place to get that from?
So ty for the suggestion.
Hi everyone,
I've been looking into getting into the Android Smartphone family for a while now and recently picked up the Sony xperia X10 from Rogers.
Id like to help out with development on this phone but I understand we have yet to crack the bootloader in order to run our own custom rom, if Im not mistaken the problem that we are facing right now is finding a way to crack the 1024 bit key used to the sign the original SE rom?
Getting this key would be vital in signing our own version of the rom and tricking the bootloader into letting us through?
I've read about rooting the phone, although I have yet to do it(as im trying to read up on all the current research but there are many threads) before I start trying to develop
I recently graduated with Computer Science and would really like the experience in mobile development, so Im wondering if someone can point me in the right direction maybe a thread I may have missed or overlooked to some tools that can be used into getting any dumps that we need , or a general area to start reading and feeling out the lower levels of this phone.
At any rate id definitely like to try to contribute to a solution, maybe even help in finding an alternate way in booting a custom rom
Thanks in advance

Hello,
When you say you would like some experience in mobile development, do you mean specifically low level stuff like cracking or circumventing the bootloader, or general android development including apps?
If you are interested in programming on the android platform, heres a great resource:

Hi James,
Yes I do mean helping with cracking/circumventing the bootloader, I can do android app development with minimal problems as I do a lot of java projects for my current job and so I've been playing around in the android platform and seem to have gotten the hang of things pretty well but that site will be an excellent resource thanks.
Im just going through the custom dev link before your post, trying to see where I can start poking around for the bootloader
I`ve just found out that Samsung would "send" us the update that most of us were waiting for a long a time. However, I have no idea if I would be able to get it or not.
Why? I went to NY a couple of months ago and I bought the phone over there... I came back to Europe and I am using the phone without problems except for this issue with the GPS.
I am still able to receive this update even after unlock the phone to use it overseas? If not, what can I do? I have never rooted my phone or any other of those things, to be honest I dunno much about phones.
What are the benefits of rooting? What are the ROMS for? (just trying to catch up a bit without creating 2 threads ).
Cheers!
Moved to Q&A and edited forst post and title.
I guess you have a valid question cocnerning the GPS and Update....but if you want to know about Rooting and ROMS start reading...all the info you require can be found with out starting a new thread.
Thanks!
Somebody? Please!
No one? Please help me out
Ive been to T-Mobile here in Germany and they have no idea about this! It would be so nice if I could get this info somewhere
Hello, XDA Members
Let start by saying I am kinda new at this rooting and modding, I am looking for a step by step guide, a place to start and to work with me on it or out right cash for you to build it for me.
What I am looking to do is change the app system on my TV from Chubby Apps to Android Apps. This is the TV I have:

Hi Guys,
Noticed while looking around that this specific Chinese Touchscreen Car Radio listed as a 7010B is quite a popular buy on eBay and Alibaba. You can find an example of a listing by searching 7010B Radio (Would post up a link but sill a newbie)
My question to you smart folk is, Is there a way to install a working version of android onto this device, while still keeping bluetooth functionality etc? I've purchased a unit to mess around with however I wouldn't know where to start looking.
Thanks for your help!
Knuff
I purchased one last week, and would also be interested.

Hi Guys,
Have you got any updates about firmware upgrades about this radio? I bought this model last month, most of the features work well for me, but i really wanted to change the background and bootlogo for my car radio and I couldn't find the option to do so. Please update me if ever you guys found a new firmware.
Thanks and cheers!
It would be great if we could at least install some APK's.
I'd like to install Torque Pro for guages. That would make a LOT of sense.
Hey i tried upgrading my radio and it gave me a blank screen after doing so. My question is, does the 7010b, SWM S7 AND THE SWM 88802 use the same firmware?
