[Q] Internal problem with your device (Nexus 9) - Nexus 9 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
I feel noob. My Nexus 9 is giving "Internal device error" every time restart. I searched here at XDA and found that I need to flash VendorBuildFingerprintFix.zip but don't know what to do and how to do? Can anyone explain in detail.
Right now my Nexus 9 is on 5.1.1 stock rom with stock recovery and unrooted and unlocked. What steps should I follow. How to flash this vendor file? I am aware of flashing using adb and fastboot so please help.
Thanks in advance.

Download the 5.1.1 factory image from Google.
Extract the contents. Buried inside is the vendor.img file. Put it in same file where fastboot is. Boot your N9 to bootloader, and open a command prompt. Type> fastboot flash vendor vendor.img
Reboot

Someone may be able to help you. But only if you provide a lot more information:
More specific description of your problem.
State of device? i.e. bootloader unlocked..
TWRP recovery installed?
Which N9?
Which ROM?
What modifications? i.e. root, xposed, etc
What were you trying to change?
What actions were you doing just before your problem?

OnePlus 2 Stock Recovery

Hello
After searching the internet for good 30-40 minutes I found the Stock OnePlus 2 recovery image. I am returning my unit so needed it to be fully stock.
Download: https://www.dropbox.com/s/8np35kw71i222as/OPT Stock Recovery.7z?dl=0
Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Been searching for this for past hour!!!!!!
Hi,
Thank you very much.
I'm also returning my phone to oneplus and i had unlocked and rooted the phone like you.
May i know how you restore the stock ROM and recovery?
thank you
Why do you need stock recovery for that? I just wiped everything on mine and when I rebooted from twrp I chose not to protect twrp. Rma was approved so I guess they were satisfied with that.

Yes, including internal storage.
That I didn't know, but you don't void warranty by installing custom recovery or rooting so it shouldn't be an issue either way.

Hey, I don't know if you ever found the stock recovery but another member had posted fastboot images in the OnePlus2 Android Development section.
I haven't tested out the recovery myself, but you can check to see if it's the English one.

One "?" is enough dude..
You have to install adb for Mac (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/31374085/installing-adb-on-mac-os-x), enable USB Debugging on your phone, reboot into bootloader mode :
Code:
adb reboot-bootloader
then go into:
Code:

and then
Code:
fastboot devices
fastboot flash <recovery_name>.img

[Q] Nexus 9 bootloops with every ROM other than stock.

TL;DR: Nexus 9 bootloops with every ROM other than stock.
My Nexus 9 will bootloop whenever any custom ROM is installed on it. I follow the usual steps in TWRP (downloading ROM and Gapps, wiping factory reset, flashing the zips and wipe dalvik/cache) will not get any error during installation and regardless of the ROM, I will get my nexus stuck on Google logo. Then I will have to unroot and install stock again and it'll work.
Ive also tried Wugfresh Nexus Root Toolkit and it won't work either. As long as Im on stock, I can root as well and everything is fine.
Any idea what could be happening? I wanna get rid of the damn lag. Have tried Cyanogenmod, Slimrom6 and Pure Nexus Project. All with their recommended gapps and will always end up with my tablet stuck in the Google logo.
Any help is very appreciated.
Sounds like you are doing everything right..
How long are you waiting for the device to start up ? Is it possible you aren't simply waiting long enough ? I'd give it a good 10 - 20 minutes on 1st boot before deciding it's hung in a boot loop.
I am having the exact same problem. I have tried so many roms that install correctly and then when flashing gapps and rebooting it is stuck on the Google logo. And I left my tablet on for a few hours so its definitely bootlooping.
The only thing that comes to mind is bootloader... If you coming to androind 7.x from android 6.x, you need to flash new bootloader (for example via ADB), otherwise you'll end up in a bootloop.
yup, happening to me too. so, how can i flash the factory image now? thanks.

I assume i need the latest 7.0.0 (NRD91N, Nov 2016) bootloader which is inside the latest build?
Then i will need to go through the process like:
Code:
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-flounder-3.48.0.0141.img
Or do i have to do more like described here (Steps 8-9)?
Your help is appreciated, thanks again!
ps: for others who got stuck in the bootloop and don't know how to stop it or turn off the device:
1. reboot into recoverymode in case you have twrp
2. open a terminal
3. type in
Code:
poweroff
an hit enter
Yes, NRD91N
Well , all i did was simple
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader-flounder-3.48.0.0141.img
once complete
fastboot reboot-bootloader

Thanks for clarifying that. Unfortunately i still can't boot into AOSP_flounder_11-18-2016.zip
which i flashed afterwards. The bootloader is shown correctly though. But when i start the
Nexus 9 the message https://g.co/ABH is shown in red.
Which rom are you running? A CM build or AOSP?
ps: trying with cm-14.1-20161027-UNOFFICIAL-flounder.zip now, but boot seems to hang too and the upper part
of the Nexus 9 is getting really warm. I will leave it for 15 more minutes to wait and see what happens.

It works now!
Thank you maelfilk, i got i running now.
CM boots properly now - though i cannot configure it. During the Setup process
in the first step of selecting the language it crashes. I am sure this will be fixed
with a later version of CM-14.1.
Does someone know any other source for CM-14.1 for flounder?
Meanwhile i will try AOSP again.
Edit: AOSP boots properly but unfortunately WLAN does not work in the AOSP_flounder_11-18-2016.zip build.
I guess this is why you stick to the 6.x builds maelfilk.

In the archive with bootloader is another archive with vendor and other images. Just flash it in twrp as in the instructions in the link you gave. If you have trouble with wlan or camera it usually means that vendor is outdated.

Cant update TWRP to 3.0.0 (Castor_windy version)

Hi Guys,
I've got a SGP511 WiFi only (castor_windy), with root access and an unlocked bootloader. but to install AOSP 7.1 I need to update my version of TWRP to 3.0.0.
I installed TWRP via TabZ2-lockeddualrecovery2.8.26 batch file and can access recovery but every time i select install look at my SD card and change to images and select the castor_winsy 3.0.0 image i dont get an option to install to recovery i only get kernel how do i resolve this ?
I have re flashed FW (KitKat) via flashtool loads of times
rooted
installed TabZ2-lockeddualrecovery2.8.26 batch file
and every time i get the same option.... cant flash to recovery or boot only kernel
i have attached a screenshot so that nobody thinks i am going mad
can you please help me thanks :fingers-crossed:

Hi ... Is that using the ADB fastboot recovery TWRP.img?
I am on KitKat just wondering if that's why it won't work have you got to be on 6.01 ?
Well, actually it shouldn't matter on which Android version you are, but to have the latest boot.img and radio.img installed I'd flash the latest stock ROM available here on XDA which means by the way having TWRP 3.0.2.0 as well and after that you might be ready for AOSP 7.1
Just have look at kulvertti's thread in the "General" subforum. Since you have already intalled a custom recovery there shouldn't be any problems.

Fastboot Flashable Stock ROMs

Before moving forward, you must understand that if anything happens with your device, I'm not to be blamed on, you choose to flash this
Hey guys, so a friend of mine bricked his OnePlus2 to a state that his recovery wasn't working (wiped) and also his ROM was bootlooping. So I thought of this little trick to convert the latest full OTA zip file into fastboot flashable stock ROM files by converting the system.new.dat into system sparse image. Though my friend recovered his phone by flashing recovery and sideloading zip. I still think it would be a good idea to share here
Download: OOS 3.5.8
Requirements: must have fastboot
Must have fastboot drivers
Must have knowledge on how to use these commands
Note: this is not rooted or tampered with, with this system firmware you should be able to get OTAs
Happy unbricking!
Nice, might become useful
Thanks

* Hi everyone. Hope somebody can help me restore my phone again. I have successfully unlocked the bootloader of my phone but I cannot boot to Rom. Every time I power on the phone it will boot to CM stock recovery. Tried to flash TWRP recovery but unable to write image. Device is locked. Did some research and found out the reason behind this is I did not unable update to CM Recovery in Developer Options.
What is the best way to resolve this issue? I still have access to Fastboot and can do ADB commands but device is locked.
Will sideloading a stock CM OP2 Rom will fix the issue? I'm also concerned with the draining of the battery, if I cannot turn on because no more charge already.
I'm using Mac computer but I can borrow a windows laptop to fix this.
Any help will be highly appreciated..
Thank you very much in advance guys!

Huawei Honor 7 flashing stock ROM

Hello everyone! I'm new on XDA and this is my first thread.
So, I've been messing around with my Honor 7 lately. I've flashed a custom recovery (TWRP), flashed a custom ROM (Unofficial CM13 for Honor 7: https://forum.xda-developers.com/honor-7/development/unsupported-cyanogenmod-13-honor-7-plk-t3542627) and root (SuperSU) and I've started to regret all of my decisions so I would like to take a fresh start (AKA flashing the STOCK ROM/Firmware)
Now, before anyone starts redirecting me to other (similar) threads, I've tried a lot. I tried to flash the stock recovery (a lot of different versions) but still when I try to boot into the stock recovery, my phone just reboots. I tried to do the force update thing (holding both power + & - buttons: http://www.gogorapid.com/flash-stock-rom-huawei-honor-7/), but this combination just boots my phone into TWRP. Could it be that I'm doing something wrong or that I'm missing something, like some requirements that are not being met? Please help me, I would appreciate it a lot! Thanks in advance.

I've flashed a custom recovery (TWRP), flashed a custom ROM (Unofficial CM13 for Honor 7: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ho...upported-cyanogenmod-13-honor-7-plk-t3542627) and root (SuperSU) and I've started to regret all of my decisions so I would like to take a fresh start (AKA flashing the STOCK ROM/Firmware)

It seems that you didn't flash the stock recovery properly.

Thanks for the reply!
Could it be? I booted my phone into bootloader (unlocked) and flashed stock recovery with adb using the command "fastboot flash recovery recovery.img". I tried a variety of versions (from B100 up to B330 I think), but none of them seemed to work. What am I doing wrong?

Hey,
Sorry for the slow reply, I'm currently on vacation. Euh I already have TWRP installed right now, I just don't know how to install the stock recovery.

Grab the stock recovery file for your device. You can flash inside TWRP itself.

I tried that, read my second post on this thread. It didn't work, I didn't know which version I had to use. I ended up with a bootloop on various versions as mentioned in one of my first posts.

Alright, I will try this. As soon as I get back home since the wifi here sucks.

I planned on doing this though I don't know where I can get the firmware for my H7... Could you perhaps provide me a link? It would be very kind of you (+ The wifi here sucks, so I will try downloading firmwares when I get home)
