Basically, whenever you play something from the speaker: video, music, put a call on speaker, the speakers output a blurry/jittery sound. Tried applying latest updates and I still get the same problem. I'm guessing its a hardware issue?

Haven't seen any complaints on this. My buddy and I both own an edge and the speakers are fine.
I would get that replaced asap.
I have the same problem now speaker is bad tried aound cleaner app worked for a while but it comes back
I have the same problem
Does anyone found a solution to fix this problem?

Hello,
Recently got my hands on a secondhand SGS2 and it seemed to work perfectly, except for the following;
There is no audio when recording a video or using the memorecorder! The mic seems to work fine since I have no problems with calling people, they can hear me just fine.
This was all with the stock ROM (4.1.2), so I thought it might be a software problem, rooted the phone and installed CM10.1. Still the same problem! So I went back to the stock ROM and while playing with the FM radio I noticed that when I press the record button in the FM radio there is no audio in the recorded file either!? I also tried playing the files back on my PC.
So to me, it seems like it's an encoder problem (is that even possible?).
I've also installed an app called igCamera to tried and change the mic options / encoding but that didn't make a difference either.
Any ideas on where to go from here? Anything else I can test?
Thanks!

I bought it from my sister-in-law for an extremely low price, so returning it is no option Besides, since I can make calls the hardware seems to be ok. Or is there another mic used when recording video?
Anyone? I've tried various testprogram's to test the microphone but they none of them can detect any sound! From what I understand the SGS2 has 2 microphones, can someone tell me if the second mic is only used for noisecancellation, or is it also used to record audio? If the same mic is used to make calls as for recording video then it must be a software problem I guess, but I have no clue how to solve this.. :silly:
Hello guys,
My XAU Dual showing microphone issues during making calls! when I make a phone call my friends keep complaining about barely hearing me (very low voice) or my voice is like someone talking in a deep tunnel with too much echo ..sort of that!
here are some things I tried to fix the issue but all failed to fix it:
1- I tried factory resetting my device
2- tried repairing my device software using Xperia Companion
3- tried disabling audio enhancement (ClearAudio+ ....etc)
4- in settings>call>SIM>Equalizer ...set to normal
5- tried looking for microphone noise suppression in settings.. can't find it
Didn't drop my device & never exposed to any fluids!!
Tho, I ran diagnostics>tested my microphone, one time I hear my voice good, then gave it another try later on & the microphone recorder a very low sound!!
Am really outta options here & this issue really sucks
My device model number is F3212, running android 6.0, build number 36.0.B.2.146.
Any ideas..
I've been experiencing this problem on two different XA Ultras. The microphone seems to switch to the one on the top of the phone so if you hold the phone upside down people can hear you. I've had to switch to speakerphone output to talk to people when this happens. Switching back to phone from speakerphone sometimes makes it work normally but not all the time.
I suspect it has something to do with an app that is running earlier, maybe google play music or OK google.
I have tried reset and it doesn't help. The problem comes back.
There is a similar if not identical issue on another Sony phone, the solution being to turn off microphone noise suppression. I haven't tried this.

I didn't notice that flipping the phone or switching to speaker output might work, gotta try it first.
What bugs me the most is the fact that I can't find anything related to disabiling microphone noise suppression at an section of this device settings!
Am using a headphone currently & waiting for Android nougat to hit the device & hopefully fix the issue.
This problem was never there when I first used my device out of its box, but later on it appeard after may be 2 upgrade patches of Android 6.0 few months later.
Waiting is my only hope...
I am having issues with the microphone on my Xperia Z5. The unit is rooted and flashed with 32.3.A.2.33 firmware.
When in-call, the other party hear a very low and low-pass filtered sound. . The same goes for when testing the microphone in the diagnostics menu.
I have been mocking about with the different settings found under "sounds" and "calls", but without luck. Maybe it has something to do with the noise suppression (which cant be turned off for some reason).
Does anyone else had this problem? Is there a known fix? Forums are empty, and the issue makes the device practically useless...
Thanks
No thoughts on this? I have been searching alot..
Noise suppressing is off when testing microphone, so You may stumbled upon hardware fault. Maybe these tiny microphone holes are dirty somehow?
Try to clean the microphone hole.
Hey guys,
yesterday I installed the 14.1-20180719-NIGHTLY-h850 version of LineAgeOS on my phone.
Everything worked fine, but then I found a bug.
WhatsApp voice mails and any other voice record doesn't have any sound except an cracky sound at the beginning, after that, theres no sound.
The strange thing is, when I record a video with any camera App, theres normal mic sound, maybe a little bit crackling.
Do you know how to fix this?
PS: If I connect a headset, I get very strange Sound in WhatsApp voice mails/records etc and no Sound in Discord.
Also WhatsApp and Snapchat (no more tested) don't record the sound with Headset mic rather the normal phone-mic.
Ok guys, after flashing it new... a few times... I got normal mic performance when no Headphones or Headsets are connected.
If so, the mic level is very, very, low.
Any ideas?
My mic doesnt work regardless if I was on stock, downgraded version, custom ROM, etc. I dont know what to do. I do have the same symptom as yours tho where when I record, there is a few pops at the beginning then just silence
I got the replacement module for the g5 and not even that fixed it. I am stumped of how to fix this issue.
EDIT: I just now found out that after taking out the motherboard, there was a red sticker covering some golden connectors, after taking that off fixed it. No idea why there was a red sticker there but please check and if it is there then take it off. itll be on the other side of the motherboard..
Every couple of minutes I am getting a loud pop/crack sound during normal calls and the same behaviour on Whatsapp and Viber calls.
I tried both on speaker and without and the result is the same. I am running all the latest updates. The adaptive sound is disabled.
Also tried Stealth Audio Player to hear both the external and internal speaker on Youtube videos and I can't reproduce it except sometimes it pops when a video is started. I also tried recording my mic and it sounds clear without this popping.
Is there anything else I can try to fix or debug this issue? It sounds like it is trying to record or adapt the sound while on call even if the adaptive is off.

This kinda sounds like the problem I had, but ALLLLL the way back to my Pixel 2 XL!
If you're rooted, you can try what worked for me below -- although, I'm not up to date with Viper4Android (V4A) and I believe it's either EOL or is in the process of being updated to work in x64 architecture or there are newer updated branches or something... But if it's possible to lower the frequencies, you might luck out like I did on the taimen...
I Found a Speaker Distortion Fix
Like many, my phone has the lower speaker distortion on speaker phone calls and general audio, like YouTube, when turned up high. If you are rooted, I have found a solution to all situations except speaker phone calls. I installed Viper4android...

Thanks for the help. I can hardly hear any issues while on youtube. There is noticeable pop when videos ending or starting. Some people are reporting motherboard issues with Pixel 7 leading to similar problems. I am trying to find if it is a hardware or software issue.
After further investigation it looks like interference. If I disable the mobile data and WIFI it seems to be a lot better. After 16 minutes call it was a very faint pop if at all. Does it sound like it needs a motherboard replacement or a future patch might fix it. Update: still happening regardless of connectivity on both the inner and outer speaker. I am going to RMA for motherboard replacement.
