S6 Edge Memory Leakage - Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So what is after Samsung confirmation that the device has serious memory leak issues and a useless OTA update that has not solved any with this regard?
Shall we wait for another update?

every Android phone have this problem..the fix comes with Android 5.1.1 from google..!!

may you know more than I..but it's said from google that the memory leak is fixed in 5.1.1 not even in 5.1

my HTC M8 runs on lollipop and i can go back into a app where left off without it reloading , using the s6 is quite annoying when apps need to reload again cant go back where i left off

That has nothing to do with memory leaks though, thats just the way Sammy set up the taskkiller to behave

my m7 has 1.2 ram free with lolipop 5.02

I don't think that is just the memory leak bug. If I am correct, the s6 has another bug. Take a look....

I don't own a HTC phone but I am reading some saying there is still memory leak on HTC's Lollipop as well.
I don't know does this works on 5.0's memory leak. This is actually for 5.1's memory leak...

Not really sure in all 5.1.1. I own a Nexus 5 as well and all the early build of 5.1.1 based on AOSP didn't fix the memory leak as well. But the very recent official factory image of 5.1.1 for the Nexus 5 fixed it. So I am not sure if all 5.1.1 has the memory leak fix or not.

Soo... What's the memory leak issue then? If Sammy's has its own memory bug.

Rooted Software Update

So my phone downloaded the update at&t released today, but it just boots into twrp recovery... is there a way i can locate this update and install it manually ? What's the trick to updating a rooted phone? I am on stock.
No it isn't possible
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 4 Beta
So i can't install a newer version of the stock software if i am rooted? can i like unroot and then do it ? heh
To install an ota you need to be completely stock. Not rooted, no bloatware removed and be using stock recovery.

Wait just a second
Update, At&t released a update., what update
Anxiously runs to phone, checks both AT&T and HTC software updates, nuthin, nada, zilch, goes back to coffee, now depressed and out of sorts, gonna call in sick
Hmmm, if your rooted, and running twrp, your technically not stock.
I just posted an easy unroot zip I made for a friend who has the same issue as you.
Going with this thread, how can you get the OTA again?
The main reason i want the update so i can use Spigen glass tr protector.... ;/ The stock is very clean and runs great.. there has to be a way to update it somehow... Since my phone downloaded the update it means its stored somewhere?? can't i use recovery to install the update ? Now i understand that might break root prob but then re root ? just thinking outloud here. What is the best rom tha is a smooth as stock or even smoother with better battery life? trick or revolution ? those seem to be the popular ones

if you're stock rooted and want what the update gives you, just install this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2291908
you can flash right over your stock rom and not have to wipe or lose anything.

Im just curious as to what a update has to do with a screen protector
Fyi
You cant install the update without being 100% stock, theres a ruu posted in here thats the current firmware and recovery
The glass screen protectors didn't work well with older software because the capacitive button sensitivity was messed up. The latest att firmware fixed them
You can't install updates when rooted. End of story

My HTC One is scheduled to be delivered to my house today and as soon as I get it in my hands I plan to go with ARHD 10.2 right away.
I probably want to get all the OTA updates out of the way before unlocking and rooting right???

So if I flash this it should have everything that's included in the att OTA update? Is this supposed to be the new sense 5.0 and 4.2 android update, or is it just maintenance? Thanks.

Dell venue 7
Hi
I jus bought a dell venue 7
but i didnt receive the update (Even 4.3 update)
I jus bought the tablet because i saw it got kitkat update
Y i amn't gettin the update???
Is it me or Google Maps is unstable on the Android 4.4.2 update?
Plus, why the hell did Dell not use the proper white colour that is native to KitKat? Now everything is either white like KitKat or Blue like Jelly Bean, it's rather annoying...

Should I bother to install cyanogenmod on a rooted 4.4.2 or leave it as is? Mainly just want whatever gives the best battery life (using Greenify and no-Frills CPU control along with autokiller memory optimizer).

Don't know what it fixed but software version went from v1.31 to v1.33
V1.33_140624-NoModem to be exact.
I couldn't see what it fixed because my OTA update screen doesn't show text for some weird reason. Just lets me update/restart.

Keep an eye on your updates for apps. Mine did this update and almost immediately did not update my copy of Castle Clash saying there was insufficient storage space. Yeah right. Only most of the alloted space of a 16 gig card. And there is a way to take care of that problem, too. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2443267
You have to re-install your root and a rw/ro app. I used mount/system (rw/ro). just remember to return to read only afterwards.
So can anybody say what's new in this update

[Q] Remove Lollipop Update Notification

Is it possible to get rid of the update notification for lollipop? I'm not updating on all my devices and the notification is pretty aggressive.
Hello.
I would like to know the same. I don't want to update until either Xposed is available for lollipop, or until CM12 betas are available. And the update message is really annoying.
Cheers
KobiP
I found this, only if rooted. May be a better way but I jumped on it. http://androidforums.com/threads/tip-disable-ota-update-notification.807179/
Edit: that didnt work.
Hello compwrench,
for me it seems to work! No more update Message until now. Lets see if it stays that way

What version of android are you running? This didnt work for me on 4.4.4, it was originally posted over a year ago and I think pertained to the jellybean update. How did you get it to work?
Hey,
I have a Nexus 5 with Stock Android 4.4.4. And I simply did what the link told me. That's it...

s3 9300 to lollipop

Newbi here looking for some help.
I have a galaxy s3 i9300 and I want to go to lollipop. The flash counter was tripped twice on the phone by the store I bought the phone from, so it doesnt automatically update.
I dont care about losing any and all data on the device. Can someone point me to the simplest way to do this? I did search but getting lost with some of the terms and unsure what applies to me. The only thing I need to make sure of is the phone still has no issues when I use different sims when I switch carriers in different countries when traveling.
Thanks for the help

There are no official updates to lollipop for i9300, neither was kitkat, so your best bet is to go unnoficial for all your SWEET needs (get it?).
ah ok. I didnt know lollipop was available yet for the s3. thank you so much

It will never be. If you want updates you go for a nexus device.
There isn't even an official kitkat 4.4 update for the i9300. 4.3 Jellybean was the final rom released. Samsung won't mess with it anymore since they can't get their bloated touchwiz working the way they want on a device with 1gb of RAM, even though the ditto note 4 kitkat rom pretty much did it.

5.1.1 and Play Music

Greetings,
Play music is skipping songs to the next after 10 - 30secs playback after my upgrade to 5.0 stock
Does updating to stock 5.1.1 fix this issue??
https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/play/LcCCoPscjCs
I can't say I ever had this bug when I was on 5.0, That being said, I'm on 5.1.1 (OG6) now and all is well. I use play music every single day for hours. No issues to report at all with OG6.

Hey there... I wasn't on stock 5.0 for very long before I updated to 5.1 and regreted it.. but you are correct. Google Play Music was skipping tracks and playing choppy music no matter what the source was (my personal collection on my SD card or from the cloud)... since updating to 5.1 and rooting.. the problem has seemed to dissappear. If I were you I'd update to 5.1 to fix the issue since I know for a fact rooting it would have nothing to do with fixing something like that. (I say this as I try to get back to 4.4.4 KitKat lol).

OG6 is the latest stock rom for T-Mobile S5. The rooted OG6 uses a modified version of shinyside's trapkernel which is essentially stock except for it allows root.

Since you're on a G900T and they're bootloader unlocked and everything, why not try something different if stock isn't working for you? I'm on the official cyanogenmod 12.1 nightly right now, just flashed it last night. It works great except battery life isn't as good as the stock rom if I turn off "battery saver" mode.
