I have a Verizon LG G3. I took the OTA update to 5.0.1 (VS98523C), rooted my phone and installed Titanium Backup, made a backup, and then proceeded to delete system apps. I'm getting error messages about weather apps so I want to restore them but can't because apparently TB needs to download them from the store. I installed TWRP so I could restore from Nandroid backups.
Is there a place I can download TWRP backups? I've seen threads on how to restore to stock but I don't want to lose root, I just want to restore the device to stock-but-just-rooted. It was such a huge pain in the neck for me to root that I don't want to lose root and re-root if I don't have to. It seems like someone would have uploaded backups but I've been searching for a while and all the search results just seem to point to how I can install TWRP.
LG g3 one click root is fast and simple if you need root. If you uninstall system apps make sure to reboot after or you'll get errors with the app trying to load. I don't think you can just grab someone else's backup. It would probably work but I doubt anyone wants to share all of their data with everyone.

You needed to have made the backups.
You can install one of the clean ROMs that is basically the OTA, like Jasmine.
Nandroid backups come from you making a backup of your system.
Thanks, I just installed Jasmine and (so far) it's working great. It fixed my problems AND now I can use all my apps in dual window mode!!! This is better than stock!
P.S. I did a nandroid backup right after installing Jasmine

i've really only used rom manager in the past, and now with the LTE i'm using Goo manager, and TWRP for a recovery. my question is, for those that want to try a new ROM, what is your procedure for backing up your ROM and apps, etc.? i ask because i flashed to viperROM, and backed it up via TWRP recovery, went to try another ROM out, and then wanted to reflash with the backup i had created, but wasn't sure where to find it to flash back. was it just a matter of not knowing what directory it had been saved into? also, when you make a backup (is it still referred to as nandroid?), do you have to use something like titanium for backup of apps and their data? i take it that's the case but wanted to be sure... maybe i need to do more searching for titanium backup i guess.
edit: just to add that i have used TB root in the past after flashing, only to find that things like some of the games etc. were as if it was a fresh install... no save game data. what's the proper way to ensure that apps are backed up with all of their associated data? or is that something that's more of a case by case/manual thing?

if u have read my other threads let me recall because i though i had fix my problem, but like an idiot i went into recovery without flashing cwm so i lost everything again.
So,
i have flash back stock honeycomb 3.2
when i try to restore a backup (that was made on 3.1), it goes down to 3.1 and crash when i try to update to 3.2 to then update to 4.0.4
so i decided to flash 4.0.4 (stock ICS from sammobile) and reinstall all my apps one by one
But,
i still have my backup, my ICS is now rooted and flashed with cwm
i want to know, if after installing all my apps, i go into recovery and try to do an advance restore of data only, will it work ?

I think the answers were there in your original thread but you are looking for an easier way to go. I am not sure there is one. Since the hard way requires restoring fully your honeycomb install you may as well try data restore from nandroid first, hopefully it works out well.
I'm not experienced in using nandroid backups for partial data restores, titanium is better suited for that. To me, nandroid is for full system restore.
So again, if all else fails the best option is to restore the honeycomb nandroid, make sure that the device is rooted, install titanium, run full backup, backup all files off of sd to your computer via usb (your nandroid, your photos, your titanium backups , etc) and then update back to the system you want. Once back to ICS you can install your apps, root, install titanium and restore data for the apps you need. Be careful with this, obviously there are compatibility issues between the two systems.

The thing is that i spent like 2 days doing all that and now am on ics with my apps installed, its mostly my saved games that i dont have and was looking for a way to restore them.

The only way to restore only your apps is like the post above, you had to install titanium backup like i said in the PM i sended you, and then backup all your apps with titanium backup, save everything to your PC via USB cable and then install another ROM... so... i know it's very annoying and very hard.... but my opinion is to restore your nandroid backup (full system restore) download Titanium backup from google play, backup your data, and in case you deleted your nandroid, make a new one!!
But there could be compatibility problems when you backup your data what causes errors...
It's a pain in the ass to do it, but it's the only way i guess...

I remember that i did a nandroid backup cause i found it was more user friendly to create a full backup at the time i did it than with titanium.

Yah lessons learned. We've all learned them too . . nandroid is great for jumping between systems or for reverting to a clean one but it's not so great for restoring apps/data to or from differing systems; for that it's usually best to install apps clean and restore data via titanium.
I make it a habit now of doing both and saving both to an external device (either a usb flash drive or to my PC) prior to moving systems.

4.2 of Jelly Bean update could be imminent for my Nexus 7, and I'm wondering about what and how to backup before the update. The question I think is a general android one though... which is why I'm posting it here.
This was going to be a question about factory reset... but reading other posts I think I now understand that factory reset just deletes data/cache, so I think any time you do that it's just gonna return the device to a clean ROM state without changing the ROM. (whatever flavour/version ROM is)
When a ROM update is applied (either official or manually flashed), I guess it wipes everything, is it like a disk format or something like that? I have installed CWM recovery and rooted my device, I think the update will unroot it, but will the CWM recovery still be loaded?
And then, what backup should I take before the update... I think a Titanium Backup is a must, I understand how that works. But a Nandroid backup too? Or is that more like taking a disk image, would that be useless to restore after the ROM has been updated? And if so, does that mean any old Nandroid backups should be discarded?

1. OTA updates should let you retain your apps.
2. Clockworkmod will still be installed following the update.
3. Nandroid backups are like a system image it makes a backup of everything on your phone (Minus sd card external) at the exact point in time when you make the backup. If you restore the backup it will restore your phone to the exact state it was in when you made the backup. You only need to keep a couple of your recent nandroid backups on your phone.
4. After the 4.2 update you can either make a backup or use a factory restore image it will make no difference. Factory reset would return it to stock.
5. You can use nandroid to make a backup after you install your apps in fact I would recommend this that way you have a convient restore point. You can also backup your apps with titanium backup.

I was misunderstanding then about the 4.2 update, thinking it was equivalent to flashing a new ROM... you clarified it for me, seems it's less severe than that.
I think I'll go with your point 5 to use a Nandroid image for a convenient restore point after the OTA happens

I just have a few questions that I hope someone would be able to answer about the LG g5. I have had it a while now. H850, I have unlocked the bootloader, rooted and am enjoying it. I have made a backup of all system apps and other bloatware with titanium backup, and went ahead and removed some. However, I cannot get titanium backup to restore the apk - I have tried flashing the update.zip, changing app installation mode and SELINEX mode changer.
I have also had problems with updating SU binaries
My questions are these:
I still have encryption on when I boot into recovery, would this have an affect on restore backups from Titanium backup and/or installing SU binarys. If so (and I do not use the fingerprint scanner) can I turn of encryption as mentioned in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/development/official-european-lg-g5-h850-bootloader-t3363040
I have also now lost the Titanium backups and so need to restore some of the stock, system apps. I assume I can just go ahead, boot into recovery and flash the stock rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g5/development/stock-h850-10c-eu-kdz-flashable-zips-t3369794), format to remove encryption (if needed) root and be back to stock?

Just to let anyone know, titanium backup and superuser both work flawlessly after ' encryption for system. I simply did this by formatting in twrp.

I haven't updated my phone in a while. I don't get the over the air updates anymore. I saw the new update and thought it was time.. My phone is rooted and I'm running G900tuvu1ane6 and want to update to 6.1 and then root the phone again. Can you let me know if I can do a straight update without messing anything up or do I need to do an incremental update? Also, what is the best way to root the new version. Are there any issues with mm that I should be aware of. Thanks in advance.

You can restore just data with twrp but honestly I highly suggest just starting fresh especially going from KitKat to marshmallow. So much has changed betwen the 2 from dalvik to art, file structure, etc etc. Back up your contacts and just restore them. Download all your apps back log in etc etc. Take you 10 minutes longer and starting completely fresh and clean.

you can use google backup and restore mechanism to restore some kind of configuration: when you are running first wizard google ask: "restore from previous phone"?
This restores desktop confiig and install your apps you installed from play store
Whatsapp restore automatically from last backup
Call log and SMS can be backup and restore with "SMS backup and restore"

I followed instructions I found in another thread but it didn't wipe the phone completely. Not sure what I did wrong but the phone seems to be working well with the existing apps.

Odin doesn't touch data by its default settings so did nothing wrong
I was trying to remove bloatware and I've been finding threads for other phone's firmware but they have different apps. I've seen some apps that remove bloatware automatically but don't know if I should use one of them or just uninstall apps through titanium backup. If I use titanium have you guys seen a good list for the newest firmware?

i use pro version on 6.0.1 with it rooted, no issue. Id rather use titanium backup so you know exactly what you need or dont need

I have a galaxy s5 900T, but I am in Europe and I have problems with the mobile network.
Individual network frequencies are unavailable, so I do not have 3G and 4G networks in some places.
I'm thinking to install software from Europe version of s5 900f on my s5 909T but I am not sure is that possible.
Can someone explain to me whether it is possible or why not. For example, CyanogenMod is the same ROM for both models (900F and 900T, and mire else s5 with Qualcomm procesor.
