[Q] In search of a good phone/dialer app - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I just upgraded from a Galaxy Nexus on 4.2.2 to the Nexus 6 on 5.1. The dialer for 5.1 is the worst. I have searched Google Play for a Jelly Bean Dialer, but nothing exists. Does anybody know of a dialer that's worth running?
Features I'm looking for that Jelly Bean's Dialer has:
Recent calls list displays caller's picture, name, phone number, incoming/outgoing calls, date/time of call and two "single select" options for each caller: option 1, dial the caller and option 2: view more call details
Dialing screen with large DIAL and HANGUP buttons instead of that tiny dime sized button in the 5.1 dialer.
Swipe between recent calls and dialer instead of the tiny dime sized dialer that must be selected in the 5.1 dialer.
Call history/recent calls list that scrolls forever without having to hit a button to "view full call history"
Thanks for the help.

How can I make the dialpad show by default for incoming calls

Is there any way to force the dialpad to appear by default when an incoming call is answered? I receive all of my calls through Google Voice, and I like the call screening where I press 1 to answer, 2 to send to voicemail, etc.
Now, with the photon, when a call is received and I swipe to answer, I need to then press the button to bring up the dialpad, and then I need to press 1, all before the person hangs up or gets sent to voicemail.
Thanks so much
does anyone have any ideas
Try this: go to settings then call settings and then show dial pad and set it to all calls ..that might work

thanks but I already have those settings on.

[Q] Stock dialer "favorites" - how to dial by default

I like how in the stock dialer, when you select a contact, you swipe left to SMS or swipe right to call, quite slick. However, this doesnt seem to work for the favorites (as long as I use grid view i/o list view). When I tap on a favorite, it brings up the contact profile (w/ all the phone numbers, email addresses etc) instead of dialing by default; very inconvenient, esp when you're in a rush to call from the street. Am I missing a setting?
I've tried using exDialer instead; almost perfect except it doesn't clear missed call notifications (you still need to open the stock dialer to clear that) and doesn't show your call log as clearly (just one entry/contact, instead of showing all recent inbound/outbound/missed calls as distinct records). Is there any way around both of these issues?

[Q] Hide incomming call number

Hi
I was looking for app, widget, setting or anything else to show me JUST name of contact for incoming calls on android 4.3 (except full screen caller that i hated).
I'm using Galaxy S4 BTW.

[Q] voice mail icon question

Hi All, When I get a voice mail notification in the status bar and i hit the icon for vm in notifications, it automatically opens the v v m app, similarly, in the stock dialer if I hit the voice mail icon, it automatically opens the visual voice mail app. There is an added fee for this app per month and I declined the service. Does anyone know if there is a way to get the icon in the notifications for voice mail and the icon in the dialer to dial *86 instead? My old phones have all done this. The alternative is that I cannot access voice mail from the notification in the status bar,; instead, I have to go into the dial pad and hit speed dial 1 or *86. Verizon told me that upon declining the vvm service, my icons (in dialer and status bar) would then default to *86, but this hasn't happened. Anyone have this problem or solve this? Thanks in advance!

Basic visual voice mail is now free.

Or you can use YouMail, which is free and works wonderfully. I have used it for several months, very reliable:

When dialing a contact, notes are seen

Whenever I make a call, on the dialer screen, the data that i have entered in the contact note field is shown. How do I hide it?
