Hello, I've been using custom ROMs on my hdx for a while. When it was back on stock anything from the Amazon appstore would auto update in the background without the "Do you want to install an update to this existing application?" screen. Google apps do this anyway.
I was wondering what it was that makes Amazon a trusted store for FireOS and if it could be copied over/not deleted when installing other ROMs.

Hi,
I had an HTC incredible S and later I got a Kindle Fire. I flashed CM7 to kindle fire and when I set my google account in Kindle Fire it started downloading all apps I installed on the HTC. I stopped this action and installed the ones I wanted manually.
Is there a way (from a PC or directly from the device) to select a group of my apps and install them when I buy a device or reflash a rom?
I know backup programs can do it, but I don't see the point of storing app backups on the sdcard, while I already have them on the market in my account. (Maybe I'm wrong)
Hi,
I have just rooted and installed a rom on my asus transformer prime for the first time. I have tried a few roms and I realized I can't install google play on them. Is there a specific way of installing google play instead of just opening the apk?
Also is there a way of syncing with google? In the stock rom i was able to, but I havent found any roms that allows this

Sounds like you have a rom without gapps (google apps) you can install goo manager which will get you to gapps or look in the place you downloaded the rom from.. they probably have a link to gapps.
I want to distribute a few Nexus 7s for pure educational purpose. I Want a ROM in which it is not possible to install an app without admin's consent (a password, maybe?). I have flashed CM10 W/O Gapps, hence no question of Play store, and sideloaded a few customized apps, but the user can still install apps on his own by simply copying the apk onto the storage. Also, i want it to be flash proof, as well as unrootable( is it even possible??). I and also is there any recovery that requires a password before flashing any zip?
My parents bought a tablet (Toshiba AT200) that doesn't come with all the google apps. I would like to install Google Plus and Play store on it but I think I need to flash all gapps onto the device, not just Google plus or the play store apk. I've done it many times on my phones and tablets but I'm wondering is it safe to do so on this device knowing that the ROM the device comes with is not stock nor one of the well-known mods.
I checked the Android version is 4.0.3.
Thanks,
I'm looking at getting a Fire HDX 7" as they are now £99.
What can I do straight outta the box? Can I install any apk, or just the Google ones like Gmail, Hangouts and Maps? Can I install the Play Store?
you can install any apks, but google apps onle with methods like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/fire-hd/themes-apps/how-to-install-gapps-fire-hd6-hd7-t2933523. Play store doesn't work.
But if you are lucky your device comes with rootable firmware and you'll be able to install gapps.
