um.. sorry if this has been asked alot of times but i didnt find any answers to my question.
So is a rooted fully unlocked running the best custom rom (i can chose any rom i want) and all the mods n tweaks motorola photon 4g better or is the stock samsung galaxy s2 better?? (i wont be tampering with the s2 because its got warranty here in india unlike the photon).
My college buddy saw my photon 4g (im running cna rom (ics) with all the mods) and he actually offered me his samsung galaxy s2 in exchange for my phone so should i exchange it or not?
And one more question has anyone from india tried the 3g speed hack settings on the latest roms?

If you plan on keeping the s2 at stock, then stick with the photon. If you really enjoy having a good selection of custom roms and kernels then go with the s2. But honestly, having a buttload of roms is overrated because at a certain point they are all reiterations of one another with certain mods added (that can easily be done by an end user) on top of official cm, aokp, cna, aosp, etc builds. We have all of these (except aosp), which is more than enough for any flashaholic. Also, take into consideration that the drivers we have been anticipating for so long are about to drop into our laps, making our 4.x builds near flawless. All things considered, mixed with the superior hardware and build quality of the photon, i would stick where you are at. If after we get the official ics upgrade with kernel and drivers you still arnt completely satisfied with the phone and the roms we have, then consider such a trade. But things are about to get really interesting up in here when that release drops, stick around and enjoy the show.
OK.. I'll stick with the photon I guess then I actually like the build of photon better than s2 the only reason I considered his offer was because s2 costs a lot more than photon here on eBay so I thought I could exchange sell profit buy another photon .
Oh so we're getting the official ics for photon hmm.. the thing I hate about Motorola Is they suck at UI design. I hope the official pics release will be good looking and not laggy like the stock ginger bread
I'm really surprised after looking into this phone that it's only running 4.2.2 considering it's being release just a couple weeks before the note 3.. Does have news on whether it will be getting 4.3.. or kitkat?
Kitkat may be far away since nexus five is not yet unveiled, I guess

It will at least get 4.3 I would guess since it doesn't make much sense to have the new OpenGL 3.0 capable 330 GPU and only have an OS that supports OpenGL 2.0 stay on the phone. How quickly we will get this is anyone's guess however. I saw that google is already on 4.3_r3 which means they are still merging tweaks and fixes to the 4.3 release. LG may be integrating these and waiting for a stable code base to release with.

4.3 on my Gnex screams, I can only imagine on the monster that is the G2!
Im hoping we get KitKat but will settle for 4.3 for now.
LG is also doing all of the multitasking stuff that Samsung has been doing for the note 2 for the first time I believe. They probably started development with 4.2 or 4.2.1 and before release integrated 4.2.2. Integrating 4.3 before release would have pushed the release window too far behind the note 3 for them to stay competitive. They likely decided to release with 4.2.2 while already updating to 4.3 in another code tree, or plan to wait till 4.4 to give us a new OS version based update. All speculation, but it makes sense to me at least .
I'd hate to say it but LG + AT&T ugh I wouldn't hold my breath lol first of the year maybe at the earliest for 4.3
I'm hoping to go direct to 4.4 personally. Hopefully LG has had lots of access with the n5 to get a head start on it.

You're making me excited! My Galaxy Nexus is also super fast on 4.3. I can only imagine how blazing fast the G2 will be with CyanogenMod 10.2. Oh, it makes me quiver with excitement.
I have the T-Mobile variant. They have been on a big "be the best carrier" push, so I wouldn't doubt getting a new firmware update before the other carrier phones
Screw Android 4.3 At this point I want LG to release an update to Android 4.4.2 KitKat next year because we know Android is going to release some minor patches after Android 4.4 is released.
hmm yep you're right
why 4.2.2 at the first position instead 4.3
but since the major changelogs from 4.2.2 to 4.3 are about the bluetooth thingy and open GL thingy
for me it doesn't matter
since this beast can do all the things that a phone should do
who knows maybe after this, the first jump is kitkat
imho

4.3 re-wrote a lot of behind the scenes stuff. Memory management and garbage collection seem MUCH better. My Gnex has never been so fast as it is on 4.3.
BUT part of the bluetooth rewrite has caused my phone to reboot on re-connection to my car head unit. A few others have experienced the same issue, across different ROMs as well so it very well may be an issue with the Android source code. Hopefully Le Goog fixes it because the rest of 4.3 is awesome. And FWIW 4.3 is the first version that actually streams the bluethooth metadata correctly so I can see artist/album/track info on my head unit now.

Heh no biggie, they arent exactly easy to read anyway!
I dont want 4.3 on this phone becuz it gives lg an excuse not to give 4.4. At this point i only want 4.4 becuz i expect more features to be added which includes all the 4.3 features.

How fast will CyanogenMod shoot out some stable/release candidate ROMS for Non-Nexus phones?
If I am correct, lately CyanogenMod has been releasing new stable versions for phones at one time, rather than one at a time. This is quite a puzzler to me, because CyanogenMod hasn't even released a stable release for any phone running android 4.3 AKA:CyanogenMod 10.2. It seems to me that they should have been on this ball months ago. They have just become a legit company, named CyanogenMod Inc., yet still have not updated any ROM to the newest software (Android 4.3). Hopefully, they will be on the ball one KitKat comes out on October 15th, along with the new nexus.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

I'm running 4.3. So it's probably just your phone. If it use the Samsung CPU, that might be the problem.

Are you sure? Unless your CM10.1.3 is android 4.3, there are no stable versions of 4.3 released for any device right now. As far as CM goes.
As far as I knew CyanogenMod was bringing android 4.3 to its version 10.2.

Im running cm 10.2 20131011 nightly, on sprint Samsung galaxy s3, 4.3.1 and its flawless
Will it be developed for HTC ONE m7
I personally don't think they're heavily concerned with 10.2 I think KitKat is going to get the focus.

Sorry but thats not how the CM Team rolls. They're main priority will still be 10.2 to get whatever bugs or concerns addressed till they move to another project. They're not just going to waste hours of developing and let it go down the drain. Until they produce a product that is completely flawless and bugfree, then...they'll move to a new project.
Cm10.2 nightly is good for daily use

I'm running cm10.2 nightly 1/11/13 on my Samsung galaxy s3 and it is stable and good for daily usage.
Well I'm not an expert user... Every night they make some updates so I think they'll be trying to make 10.2 perfectly stable before releasing a 4.4 rc

It kind of is, most of the team will move on to modifying 4.4 and a few will stay behind to make the previous release stable. This will also mean that now will be somewhat of a feature stop for 10.2

yeah.. i hope they adopt it real soon...
I can't seem to locate a pure cm 11 for at&t, why is this did they only do it for the "enrc2b " or nvidia cpu. or what ever its refrenced as, i didnt know getting the att version would be such a pain in my ****ing ass, or i woulda sprung the 30$ and got a used international which was only going a little higher than the normal version anyways on ebay -_-
I really am a big fan of beanstalk but beanstalk is enrc2b , so now i'm ass out. I run beanstalk on my tf700 and my e980 lg optimus g pro, i love it. works beautifully, oh well i run pure cm 11 on the tf700, but I've run hundreds of roms and anything bsided cm based has been **** after a few months of running. currently on month 2.5 of my e980 install stable and pure and awsome, with exceptional battery life.
so, can somebody please show me an at&T cm based rom for this phone?

you should have shelled the extra $30 out. I gave up on CM* on the evitareul as it was a major PITA.
The device is now in the hands of someone who work's for CM, i'll chase him up.
Oh and it's only done for the enrc2b because i maintain it and got it official.

Hi guys,
I have an old S3 i9300 I'm thinking of giving to my mother. She doesn't live locally and is pretty good with phones but certainly not close to being able flash nightlies/kernels/etc. She uses Chrome, WhatsApp and needs a fairly stable camera. She doesn't game or need high performance, stability is the most important thing. She's coming from a ropy old Huawei Y300 on 4.1.1 so even the AOSP camera on an S3 will present a significant upgrade over that!
I want to use an AOSP based ROM as when the phone was my daily driver it was far superior to Touchwiz. On balance, do you think it's better to flash a KitKat (CM11) or Lollipop (CM12.1) based ROM? I want to be able to flash a ROM and then it be stable enough for her to use for a while without any ROM updates. When the phone was my daily driver I was on SlimKat 9.0 Stable and was happy enough. My instinct is to go for SlimLP or JustArchi's unofficial CM12.1 final version as they have very few changes from AOSP.
What do people think? Or should I just sell the S3 and buy a Moto G? Haha
Stock rom. She has no need for root or custom roms.
I wish I stole my HTC M9.
Don't sell Try Official LiquidSmooth v3.2 KK rom with Boeffla kernel smooth & stable.

Thanks, but even when deodexed and slimmed down, for me Touchwiz is awful and stuck on 4.3 (not interested in the ported 4.4.4 TW ROMs).

If it's KitKat, I'd rather go SlimKat, but Boeffla is a good shout, I was on it when the phone was mine and it was very smooth and stable.
Can anybody verify any LP AOSP ROMs as stable and useful for a daily driver?
If you want a later 100% reliable kitkat or higher device then buy a new phone. The s3 i9300 was never designed to run kit kat and will crash due to out of memory issues all the time.
Sorry to burst your bubble but i ended up with this m9 for the very same reason and my mum has my old rooted s3. She hates it yet i cant be arsed backing it all up to set it back to stock so when her contract is up soon I'll get her a new device.

Wow, I can't believe how wrong you are. I ran SlimKat comfortably for a year on an S3 and by the final version 9 it was a MILLION TIMES better than anything Samsung came up with for the S3. Out of RAM? My Nook HD+ ran KitKat and currently runs Lollipop just fine and is never "out of memory". And the 1gb Moto Gs seemed to have handled both KitKat and Lollipop just fine. In fact, the Y300 is EASILY capable of running KitKat on just 512mb RAM. I'm closing this now, mainly because @shivadow clearly has no idea about Android at all and has p**sed all over my thread.
