[Q] archos 53 platinum - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
i repleaced the digitizer+lcd of a qilive 53 with the digitizer+lcd of an archos 53 platinum. The home, back and menĂ¹ button don't work anymore, they turn on, have light but the pression not work...when i first boot up the phone with new digitizer i saw a "upgrade touch firmware in progress" and then started.
There is a way to solve this? Can i flash archos 53 firmware on qilive? (it's a rebrand) or do i have to flash only touch firmware?
thank you

Do you have kernel sources of your device? Archos usually has FTAGs 512-bytes page on it's eMMC. It has TAGs which touchscreen does device have. What's the output of lsmod on stock firmware? What do you have inside cat /sys/bus/i2c/devices/*/name ? Also what's your dmesg right after the start of the device? And what's your new touchscreen chip after replacement?

[Q] Archos G9 refusing to load ROM

Hi all I've updated my G9 80 many times and tried all the available ROM's with a few hiccups but have always managed to recover the tab with the info on this forum. On my latest update the tablet appears to refuse to load a ROM from the SDE menu? If I boot the tab normally it halts at the ARCHOS boot screen but I can see the tab in device manager/Disc drives as ARCHOS_A80S but not in the explorer window and the USB is shown as an unknown device. If I boot up into the SDE/Archos A80S Recovery menu and then select (Update Firmware) it opens up a drive on my win7 system labeled A80S_REC as per normal and I can transfer the (fimware_archos_it4.aos) update file across to the tab but when I select (OK to disconnect) the tab starts the update in progress which fails after about 20 seconds with a Update failed (221) message. This is the method that has always solved any problems in my previous operating excursions but after a few days of trying to solve this problem I'm now at an impasse has anybody any ideas or is it time to upgrade to the Gen 10 and retire this tab as bricked
Thanks for any info
Ken.
I made the basic mistake of trying to update with an older ROM (kicks own backside for making such a basic mistake) aaaaa well back to trying to brick it again but I happy as the screen of my old backup Hannspad is doing my eys in
The 221 error usually means that you have tried to install an older official Archos firmware than the last official Archos firmware you had installed.
If you know exactly which one that was, then you can find a link to download it hidden in-between all of the other rooted and custom ROMs in this list.
Go into Recovery / SDE and do a full Reformat. Do not try to install anything, just go thru the steps (without connecting to your computer) and let it fail the firmware upgrade process. Then exit out so your tablet turns off. Then start back up in Recovery / SDE and do another full Reformat. Then connect to your computer and copy over the Archos .aos file.
If it still shows a 221 error after that, then you may have at some point installed a higher official Archos firmware. Start all over with the above steps, but with the next higher Archos firmware download.
I really do not know just what might happen if say you had the official Archos 4.0.7 firmware installed and then installed a 'rooted' 4.0.25 or 4.0.26 firmware. That could possibly somehow make the tablet only allow you to install that specific official Archos firmware afterwards also.
Let us know what luck you have?
Now OK
Hi I came to the same conclusion myself and solved the problem 5 min after starting the thread but thanks for the info, it's much appreciated. I cannot understand how I missed this for so long as I've loaded the majority of the roms on this site. I solved it by downloading the latest rooted Firmware 4.0.26 from surdu_petru (GENIUS ROM MAKER )
Thanks again
Ken.

[Q] Bricked Yarvik Tab460, Allwinner A10

Hi everyone ,
I have a Yarvik Tab460 with a AlLwinner A10 microprocessor.
And I removed the android and installed the berryboot bootloader because i wanted to try linux ons my tablet.
The linux worked and was running fine, but i wanted to chenge a few things and chenge some configs in the berryboot bootloader.
Now i guess u've bricked the bootloader and the tablet doesn't do anything anymore, won't even start up with a black screen, I'm unable to enter
recovery mode or even the factory hard reset mode.
When i connect the tablet to a PC it doesn't respond , does nothing , i've tried to use Fastboot and ADB but doesn't work either.
Then i read somewhere that i can try to let the battery go down, insead i opened up the tablet, with the nessesary procotions like antistatic tools en grounded body to prevent static electricity from destoying antything and removed the battery temorarly but it didn't change anything. When i opened up the tablet i saw that there were some serial( uart ) connections ( TX, RX and GND) , so would it be possible to install a new bootloader with these connections. or does anyone have another idea how i can get this tablet to work?
Thanks in advance and greetings Sammekevremde

[Q] Problem with gslx680 touchscreen

Hi
I have a China tablet with unknown manufacturer but with N8000 phrase on the back, the software is bricked and no available ROM for this tab so I looked for similar ROM and found working one but with ts not functioning, I know the ts is gslX680 although not all glsX680 drivers work, I have found a working driver but with the following problem: the upper part of the screen about 60 px height is working well, the rest of the screen is shifted down about 100 px, this is very strange as part of the screen is shifted and other part is not, so should I recompile the driver or is there some modifications that can be done to the kernel to solve this issue?
Hi,
sorry for reviving this thread but I have hit the very same problem. Non-original rom, the chip prints gsl3680, the module gslX680.ko has the same problem. I tried module gsl3679.ko which shows only 800x480 resolution in getevent -p (unlike the gslX680 showing corect 1024x600).
I suspect incorrect firmware in the driver.
Please is there any way to troubleshoot/fix? I think I can find my way in linux, I am not afraid of compiling.
Thanks a lot for any suggestions

The device has on the ic q88 A33 8G 2681 7660 512M

Installed was the kitkat4.4 ver.
After installing some application ,it started rebooting continiously, without responding to button presses, except to shut down when pressing power button for 10 seconds.
I tried several combinations of the volume and power buttons(the only ones it has),to no avail
I read it is possible to flash this thing to make it work again, but i cant find the image file needed according to the instructions i got.
Do i need to get a specific file or any kitkat 4.4 for a tablet would do?
And how am i to go about flashing it?I need an external SD card and reader??Or is there an easier way?
I d appreciate any assistance
Best regards in advance
