I was thinking about ordering the developer edition through HTC and I would like to know if it has a true unlocked bootloader. Any thoughts before I place the order??

As far as I know it has an unlocked bootloader. Why are you asking in the Sprint forum though? Do you plan on sim unlocking for Sprint? Thats going to be a tedious job.
Yeah I have Sprint. And I know the HTCDev tool doesn't unlock a stock bootloader completely. I'd rather not buy it to find out its half-ass'd unlocked

ok, but I do believe the Developer Edition will not work on Sprint or Verizon as it does not have the necessary band for CDMA and LTE. I would double check that. I had no problem unlocking bootloader or S-OFF through Sunshine. Even after the current OTA.
I do believe sprint and Verizon need to provision a device to get it to work on their network. Why not just buy it from sprint if that's your intention. Its easy as pie to unlock.

hey,
is anyone aware of a method to remove SIM lock on an Amaze 4G without use of an Unlock code (basically I can't find any available at this time - phone was only released on the 4th on the Telus Network and I'm with Rogers).
if a method is possible with use of temp root please advise
thanks,
Trevor

Both AT&T and Verizon appear to be equal in almost every aspect in my area( Coverage, cost of the plan I need, subsidized phone cost), so that leaves the 1 question that really matters:
Which is easier both to root, and even more importantly, unroot to the point I can still use my warranty?

AWESOME! Now, it just needs to get easier(perhaps a one click solution or one done entirely from the phone). Hopefully by the time I get it mid august it'll be easier. The only pain in the ass is that, currently, it requires windows, does it not?

Well, in an area where my options are 'not LTE with Verizon' and 'Not LTE, but at least HSPA+ with AT&T' AND Verizon proceeds to lock the bootloader... I'm dropping Verizon after 6 years!
Think about it Verizon has a fast roll out of lte
Also after you've been a customer for a while you get special benefits
I know on sprint when I can't pay the bill on time I can just call and ask for a extension of about a week or so
This way my cell still has network access
As much as I like to pay my bills on time some times I can't and this helps

US carriers promised to lock things down tightly after the One came out. I guess we'll see.
Good thing i have a 14 day return period lol. Cant live without root.
do we know if this device has a locked bootloader that will be hard to crack or will they actually design it to be unlocked like sony does.
im trying to decide between m8 and z2, and i know sony has been cool in the past with allowing the phone to be easily rooted and unlocked to allow flashing. i am coming from a galaxy s4 with unlocked mdk bootloader but i am upgrading and i want to be able to mod my phone

I have returned quite a few phones that I have relocked and unrooted without one problem through warranty exchange. I'm not concerned with it at all and I am on the Next program as of this phone. Besides that, the warranty is up after the 1st year. This is just my experience and I can't speak for everyone.

No - on both counts. Sprint is a CDMA network. No GSM phones - AT&T included - will work on Sprint.

The unlock that Sprint does is not a true factory unlock, since the phone can only be used in other countries if they do it. All of the above phones can be truly factory unlocked for use with any GSM carrier in the world, even in the US. I wouldn't say the iPhones are free, and it's not technically a factory unlock. But for all the Android models, yes. You just need to have the tools and the knowledge. I run my own business doing software support for smartphones and tablets, and Sprint unlocking is something that I do lots of.
