Unlocked AT&T g3 - Sprint LG G3

Will an unlocked AT&T g3 work on sprint? I know that the s5 unlocked from AT&T will work on sprint.

No - on both counts. Sprint is a CDMA network. No GSM phones - AT&T included - will work on Sprint.

Sprint uses an esn master list. If that phone isn't on it it can't be activated. (Only Sprint phones are on the list btw)

Master list or not, a GSM phone will not work on a CDMA network

Lol. I'm ok with my unlimited data plan from sprint for my multi line. Thanks!

I work at sprint and I can tell you right now, he either traded it for a sprint s5 or he didnt get sprint. NO GSM phone works on our network. The only exception is the Nexus 5. Thats it. Nexus 5 no more. no less.

I believe you. Now that i think about it, the guy seemed shady and not trust worthy..can any of the sprint phones unlock and go to GSM networks? I've heard that the Sammy s4 can do it.

Can the s5 talk and use 3g at the same time? I know the sprint g3 can't do that.

Yes. LG G2 and G Flex, HTC One (m7) and One Max, Moto X, Galaxy S4, Note 3 (if Sprint processes the international unlock first), and iPhone 4s and 5 can all be unlocked for GSM use

And you are talking about factory unlocks that Sprint does for its customers or are you saying there is a way to unlock these Sprint variants for free?

The unlock that Sprint does is not a true factory unlock, since the phone can only be used in other countries if they do it. All of the above phones can be truly factory unlocked for use with any GSM carrier in the world, even in the US. I wouldn't say the iPhones are free, and it's not technically a factory unlock. But for all the Android models, yes. You just need to have the tools and the knowledge. I run my own business doing software support for smartphones and tablets, and Sprint unlocking is something that I do lots of.

ROOT / SU Question / Mega 6.3 / USA / AT&T

Anyone,
I'm not an android noob, but I left Android a few years back (2.3.3 / 2.3.4) due to work changing to iPhones for data encryption reasons. I came back to Android when more Samsung phones started supporting ODE (on device encryption). I would like to root my phone and have done so on other Android phone's using SuperOneClick, CWM, etc.
I am reading that there is a secure boot loader on the AT&T version of this phone in USA, so I am screwed in gaining root access to the device? I'd really like to delete all this bull**** bloatware they've installed... and a tethering app without using the carrier option.
Can anyone help?
I have the AT&T version as well. I'm not 100% sure that the bootloader is the reason for no root yet. Other phones have locked bootloaders and can still be rooted.
Running custom roms might be another story. I get the impression that because this is not a "mainstream" phone that it does not get top priority. For example, the Moto X on AT&T has a locked bootloader and that's rooted already, but it's a very popular phone.
Hopefully we'll get some love sooner rather than later. I would be happy with root along with an easy way to go back to stock.

Why do people get this phone to use abroad?

I don't get it, I keep setting people asking questions in here about international use when they obviously got it with no intention of ever using it on Verizon, what makes this phone so great that foreigners and even people on other us carriers get it instead of the s4 that's meant for them?

Because they are crazy, cause we are locked down tighter then a baby pig sucking tit in the mourning b4 eating slop in a farm ..... Lucky I have mdk Im pretty pleased with this phone , but if I was them I would maybe buy the phone from a carrier with not such a locked down bootloader
hyperdrive powered s4
probably because verizon has one of the biggest customer base and best service whitch means more phones to be able to buy used on ebay and what not that is just what i think...and i think verizon enabled international on the note 2 and now s4 not sure about the n3 but not sure if other carriers have that option or if it is a gsm cdma difference.. or what or international carriers can only use vzw baseband

Verizon comes unlocked default and uses a cdma network + sim card
Which means it can be used on other cdma carriers around the world+gsm carriers
No other variants of gs4 can do this

T-Mobile S5 on AT&T network??

The Note 3 and few other devices from T-Mobile can pick up AT&T LTE signal, can the S5 do so as well? Where can we get the device unlocked?
Edit: I have found a website where I believe you can unlock any gsm Galaxy S 5 (I haven't tried it myself but others have) here is the site
http://www.theunlockingcompany.com
It should work without any issues. The cost is $41.99 USD.
Edit 2: This website has been confirmed to be working great

Yes it absolutely have all AT&T LTE bands, as well as HSPA/GSM ones. Just needs to be unlocked.
Is there a way to network unlock the phone right now? I was going to switch back to ATT today but I might use my Jump on an S5 before I go.
I believe cellunlocker.net should have that unlock soon hopefully...

As of today we are no joy.
T Mobile makes you wait 40 days before they will release the unlock code. And it's $760 total.
I too want this answer -- I paid $660 plus tax ($720) to get mine yesterday.
I bought from TMo because I had read that they aren't locked and the sales person told me the same -- well, it seems that it is. Called Tech Support and they said they can't help me because I don't have a TMo #.
I'll go back to the store today -- unless there's another option.

Has anyone tried to use Samsung Secret codes to unock it? I am not sure if this works for the S5 or not, but there are steps you can use on the S4 that allows you to unlock the phone using codes - See this thread for steps - (careful - I am not positive this works - I don't know what the downside might be if you screw up - but it might be an option - or possibly something similar? )http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283068

Does anyone know if the Tmo S5 have the exact same bands as AT&T S5? I am wondering because in Chicago, AT&T has LTE-A and wanted to make sure the Tmo version would also have this if used on AT&T network. Thanks in advance.

No, I checked a video from samjpullen on youtube, he is fairly known youtuber and he recommended the site. Here is his video:

He is in the UK but I did check the site when you choose Samsung and then choose galaxy s 5 it asks you which country and what carrier. When I had the T-Mobile note 3 I didn't need to activate it to unlock it.

[Q] Difference Between Sprint, Verizon & International

I'm rather curious as to why HTC or for that matter other makers have to make different build of a particular model for all 3 variants.
Why is that only for Sprint & Verizon that phone makers have to make specials versions of Android for them? Why can't International versions be used on them?
I think the international version is made the way it is because there are lesser restrictions on devices abroad.
Even it comes to the US, Sprint and Verizon devices need to be manufactured differently for them to work on the carriers network.

But sprint is a no go? (thank for the help guys) I know t-mobile and att are similar and Verizon and sprint are similar, but I don't understand the provisioning thing very much... I thought that was an old thing they did before it was all done thru sim cards, as I understand it now, Verizon, t mobile, and at&t assuming the phone is unlocked and has the correct frequencies available, should all be interchangeable? But sprint can't work unless the phone is a sprint exclusive due to provisioning?

Both still run on CDMA lte is for data and some voice only. CDMA I believe is still used for activation. They need to provision or "okay" phones to be used on their network.
