Hello guy, I have an 850f wich I rooted and unrooted a few days ago, I triggered knox... I couldn't update anymore so I tryed to update using Kies but I read that it will reset my phone... so I flashed the frensh version from lolipop. Now I have lolipop version but it's a pain for me to know that knox is still triggered, so I was asking myself IF I could rest knox trough Update with kies 3 and then use backup u made.
1. Make kies backup
2.update using kies
3. Use kies update

Hi guys
I have the following problem
I have a Samsung Galaxy SII
I rooted my phone and now i heard that android 4.0 will come soon
so i wanted to restore my phone and get original firmware again
at this time i had litening rom 6.1 on my phone
then i restored a backup with clockworkmod recovery to a state before installing this firmware
then i unrooted my phone with SuperOneClick 1.9.1 and flashed the original KF4 kernel
These steps went very well and now here is my problem:
I'm not able to get firmware updates via kies any more
Kies doesn't search for updates, because it says, that my phone doesn't support updates via kies
Hope somebody can help me
Sorry ,I also have the problem
Find the stock firmware for your carrier in here or stock firmware for your country in here & flash that.
A clean flash of stock (as opposed to using a backup as you did) should enable you to use Kies to get official firmware updates.

Thank you for the info.. I will try out later
The other thing is, Did you screw around with and change your CSC? I believe it may have an impact on Kies updates as you are trying to update a phone with the wrong firmware and country code...
Could be wrong, had a couple to drink tonight and everythings a little fuzzy...
Hi guys,
right so what i did is this
flash (odin) stock xwlp7 (three italy) stock rom
rooted in order to install few mods
reset conter using triangle away
recreated stock kernel from stock rom and flashed it
now i connect the phone to kies, it does indeed connect, but it says kies is unable to upgrade firmware on my phone, how can i solve this ?
i would like to keep the phone as it is now(with my mods) but have it unrooted and kies being able to upgrade firmmware un future.
it's my wife's phone and i want it to be ok if something should go wrong and i would have to bring it in assistance.
thanks in advance
you have already got used to flashing update manually from ODIN...when future update comes do it in the same way....
While you are already on a latest firmware and there is nothing to upgrade Keis to do what?...
Kies requires original firmware with all codes matching .
or download the firmware via CHECKFUS ..
Or join XDA Developers forum and ignore Kies .

sorry maybe i did not explain myself
what i want is the phone to be fine for insurance purpose.
so i re installed stock kernel after installing mods (status bar and crt off)
basically i installed stock firmware, obtained root to install these mod, then flashed stock kernel in order to be all stock, but apparently kies still sees something modified on my phone and says it cannot be upgraded.
all i want is the phone to be stock now without loosing my mods

Unless codes match Kies will not see a firmware .You will just keep going around in circles like all the other modify phone and want Kies to update posters .
A total removal of KIES and all registry entries with a fresh install may help .

Copy of original .
One original firmware download from stock or branded provider rom threads and save or use CHECKFUS to download and flash via Odin .
Easy to flash if required and no need to involve KIES .

hello everyone
yesterday i had a boot loop at startup in which the samsung kept looping and restarting and phone didnt startup into the software so i tried clearing the cache and format factory setting from recovery mode but didnt work so at the end i had to use odin and use a file .tar that i had when i bought the phone which had to be android v4.0.4 that had prepared incase i needed it urgently
everything went up right with odin and the samsung galaxy s3 I9300 is working fine
howeever i went into software update and i downloaded a 380mb file from the buildin software update function in the phone after completing the download i had a message which is something like this "download has failed try downloading and installing from setting<about<softwareupdate(which i used this way) or try using samsung kies on your PC to update"
now guys i went to samsung kies, i have a good internet its not a bad one.. however the samsung kies app is taking so long i mean it was on 10% for about 50mins or 1h.. so i decided to stop it and now i came here to ask you!! is there a way i can do to update the software manually!!! through downloading like a 500mb or 800mb file and using mobile odin or rom toolbox or anything that can help me update however apps get updated and changed so i dont know which app is working or not and where to be headed so please give me advice on how i can update it!!
2nd question , incase it can't be updated unless using this 2 ways the buildin software update or samsung kies!! is there a way to disable the software update notification that keeps poping up and automatically downloading the new android version!!!!
the reason i want to do so is that i already flashed the v4.0.4 android which i already has on my pc and i wanted to use my phone urgently so i didnt have the time to download a newer version and flash it therefore i am currently using the phone and have already apps and info that dont want to be deleted when flashing it again so i want to update it only!
thanks
download the firmware from sammobile website and flash using odin
2nd question, just ignore it
so this flashing through odin!! will it only update it to the newer version that am installing or will it delete all the apps and contents i have currently after installing the older version??

I cant get official OTA update for my Samsung galaxy s3 from Android 4.1.2 to 4.3. Whenever i click system update it shows " Your system is up to date" . I know the reason for getting this problem. Because i have rooted my phone. Now can anyone help me getting ota update without losing any data and root access.
Details:
Samsung galaxy s3 GT-19300 international version
Android 4.1.2
Stock rom
Cwm recovery
Baseband version :19300xxema5
Flash counter displays '1'.
This is because of flashing chainfire root to acquire root access
Triangle away not used.
Its cause your system is modified (facepalm) ie rooted.
Just flash the latest firmware whichever you want via odin or unroot fully if you want to get ota updates

Try to use kies, sometimes it doesn't mind heaving rooted stock rom...
Otherwise, you should use Odin as suggested

remember to use triangle away aswell
Unroot the phone im not sure if it works i haven't tried it but fully unrooting it from the supersu app then do the ota update and then root it back that's the only way if you don't want to go through the whole backup processes.
Its risky though just backup your apps with tib and move your important files off the sdcard and flash via odin it shouldn't take too long

I needed to replace the original Email.apk & Exchange2.apk with an XDA-version ( Exchange Security Bypass ) since i don't want the exchange server to lock down my entire phone so i rooted my Alpha. In addition i removed S-health and some other apps i don't want on my phone. Of cource, now the built in update-function from Samsung won't work and when Lollipop is pushed out i'll be left out
So my questions are:
1. Can i unroot my phone and get updates through Samsung even though i replaced/deleted some apps?
2. I presume i needed root only to install/replace the email-app, if i unroot my phone, will the replaced app still work?
3. After what i've done, can i restore the original firmware somehow and get my "update priviliges" back?
You can get the stock firmware and flash it (using kies or odin/heimdall & sammymobile)
Cool, thanx!
Which flashing tool would you recommend?

Triangle Away does not work with the Alpha (yet?) and a modified ROM is spotted by Knox and will not update.
No doubt when Samsung release a Lolipop firmware it will be available to download from the usual places and flash with TWRP or Odin.

1. you can unroot but i doubt that automatic updates will work. the OTA will not work in a custom rom. as long as you have official/stock rom installed (by odin or other methods), OTA will work.
2.as soon as you flash a stock rom/firmware, all the apps and bloatware will be back.
3.yes you can flash an official/stock firmware via Odin or other methods. you can check updates on www.sammobile.com/firmwares

an unrooted stock rom will not be marked as custom regardless the Knox counter. i had S4Mini previously and i only had to flash stock rom and OTA will work (although i never used it. i like to chose which firmware is best and available through the above menioned source. knowing that OTA will work on stock rom, i don't think triangle away is important unless you want to sell the device and cover the tracks that you've tried unofficial firmwares

well, that's the difference. now Knox counter disables warranty but other functions are kept. i think that's why we don't see new versions of TriangleAway app
