Hello,
Also available on my Xperia X10 device. Android 2.3.3 version from the very old in my device but I am very happy.
I did previously samsung device to install custom ROMs.
I could not. Can you help.
When I go to the phone's menu to unlock the bootloader nothing about.
I have tried all the methods mentioned in the forum but did not succeed.
Also, did have an opportunity to propose the stable ROM. I prefer the version from Android 4.
I would be glad if you could also tell when I apply what steps these operations.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Have a nice day.

Hi guys
I just purchased an x10a mini pro (Telstra branded version). I wanted to install a custom ROM on it, but can't find any instructions on what steps to follow. I'd like to install the most stable CM7 build if possible.
Also can anyone refer me to the steps on installing a custom rom (ideally gingerbread build). Again I can't seem to find any instructions on this forum on how to create a ROM backup.
Im a bit of a tech noob, so apologies if it seems noobish. I also tried a thread search but couldnt find any satisfactory instructions

I have rooted my phone - used Super One Click)
Now I want to try the 2.3.4 Rom in my XPERIA X10 mini.
Though, before I do anything, I would like to backup my current ROM ( and need to be able to recover later, if needed ).
I'll need all help I can get.
Thank you.
Hello, I am very new to smartphones and I need some help about a few things. I tried to find some answers on the forums first before posting, but the amount of new information is quite staggering and I got confused in no time. If I missed any important information for newbs like me please direct me there. I do have good knowledge of PC and programming in general, but so far nothing at all about smartphones.
I have an unlocked Xperia x10a, not rooted, originally from Rogers in Canada now using Fido. I'm running Windows XP SP3 on my PC. I just found out that a month ago Sony Ericsson released a new android update for it that's 2.3.3, but mine is still 2.1.1 and PC Companion says there are no updates when I checked today. Does anyone know if it's officially available in Canada yet?
1. "Carrier-Free"
While I was reading the Sony Ericsson blog about the 2.3.3 upgrade, I noticed it mentioned that the device must be "carrier-free". Is this where "debranding" comes in? I found a link to a website about it:
An easy guide to debranding your handset
but most of the recent comments on there are saying it no longer works. The author made and update that mentioned another way of doing it entirely using the PC companion's "repair" function. Can anyone confirm if that's still a safe way to do it? If not, what's the most common and safest way to do it, and is it absolutely necessary for getting the upgrade?
2. "Flashing"
Is it harmful to my phone by any chance? I'd rather not touch it if there's a good chance that it will break my phone. My understanding so far is that if I want the update or to root my phone this is required? Is the Flashtool found HERE still safe to use today for updating to 2.3.3?
Sorry for the long post, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. Thanks in advance as I try to cram the beginner stuffs in.
Using flashtool is probably the best way for you to get Android 2.3 on your phone.
All you have to do is download and install flashtool on your computer.
There are a numerous number of guides on here that can help you.
Sent from my x10 Platinum
Simplest way to do is root your phone using flashtool, then ask permission and install Xrecovery.
Then flash your decided custom 2.3.3 ROM via Xrecovery.
All you have to do is read, read all instructions related rooting 2.1 and flashing new rom on X10 android development carefully.
Just ask me if you need some help.
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
Yay the 2.3.3 update was released on PC companion today for my phone, so I guess no need to go through the flashing process now
But I guess I will still try to root the phone after the update finishes, so I can get rid of those annoy carrier-bundled apps that keeps running no matter how many times I try to stop them...
Hi Guys,
I would like to seek you expertise regarding my request, im a noobie and its my first time using a Android Phone (SE Xperia X10 Mini Pro is my 1st) So far im enjoying my phones capabilites however, my internal memory seems to be insufficient and the apps2sd is not compatible with my current OS, i saw a dude (having the same phone as mine) and he is using Gingerbread 2.3.7 OS i was amaze and i asked him how did he upgraded his OS - he just nod and said "Visit XDA-Developers and you'll find out" So here i am humbly requesting your assistance in order for me to maximize my phones full potential. Looking forward for your replies....
PS - I dont even have any idea what "rooting" so im currently sifting the website to learn step by step....
Thanks in advance Masters
Fist thing, you need to do, is to root your device. To root your x10 mini pro, you have to install the latest 2.1.1.A.0.6 firmware using SEUS or Sony Ericsson Pc Companion, then, download SuperOneClick from here and extract the archive. Don't forget to deactivate your antivirus, while using Super One Click.
1.Check that you have enabled USB debugging in settings->Applications-->Development. Than, just follow step by step video on the site, I gave you). This is a first step of "changing roms"

lilflix7, first of all to understand what is rooting you need to understand the basics of a Linux system, as Android is nothing but a system using the Linux kernel. "root" is like a default administrator account in Linux , which gives you hardware level access. For example giving hardware level access to applications which manage CPU Scaling for battery efficiency. By default the vendors lock out the "root" access just to protect their warranty incase you do something harmful (i.e. deleting important system files") or a malware granting itself administrative privilege to mess with your phone. But some of us have found ways to enable it incase we want better control of our phones for more customization (i.e freeing up some space by deleting unnecessary system applications) and hacking. The methods vary depending upon the make and the models and most importantly the Android Version .. As it sometimes varies between gingerbread and ICS .. With ST15i with ICS please don't consider rooting the phone directly using the scripts, you might end up with a brick.. Downgrade to a Gingerbread Kernel after which you may have a soft brick due to the kernel mismatch, but then you can run the DooMLoRD rooting tool with busybox....After this process switch back to the stock kernel and you are rooted xD .. Please note Firmware 4.0.2.A.0.62 and 4.0.2.A.0.69 are difficult to root on a locked boootloader. So to root gingerbread you need to flash either 4.0.2.A.0.42 or 4.0.2.A.0.58 and then Root.. This might sound hebrew to you as you are new to this phone, so i suggest you to read through the forums before you decide your call. As "rooting" your phone will void your warranty AND MOST IMPORTANTLY BRICK YOUR PHONE if you do something wrong.. Here is a detailed guide on how to root ST15i (talk.sonymobile.com/thread/41119?start=0&tstart=0).. I have tried it on my week old ST15i and its rooted flawlessly now xD.. All the very best..
