So has anyone find out how to get this rent a center lock off there phone besides using cm rom? I've seen that it can be done cause ppl offer to do it for a fee. I currently have cm on mine do to the lock, but would really like to figure out how to get the lock off so I can use the original. I've researched and researched for hours to try and find a way with no luck at all. If anyone can be kind enough to tell me how or point me in the right direction I would surely appreciate it.
thanks

i have the same problem do you resolved this issue u bgought a phone 1 month later is blocked
Nope still haven't resolved it, still looking into it
Found it here is what you do This is a permanent fix for Samsung Galaxy S5 firmware locked by Rent-A-Center . Should also fix S5 phones locked by computrance absolute software .
This does not unlock your network carrier.
1. PLEASE READ ALL THE STEPS FIRST and ASK QUESTIONS IF YOU ARE NOT CLEAR.
2. Download Odin3_v3.09
3. Download TWRP or any other custom recovery of your choice.
4. Run Odin and flash TWRP or any other custom recovery of your choice to your phone. This will set KNOX security flag to 1, meaning no more warranty for the phone if you send it to Samsung to repair something else. Follow this http://www.droidviews.com/install-twrp-recovery-samsung-galaxy-s5/ or watch this
5. Boot into custom recovery ( with phone off, press and hold Volume Up and Home keys while turning on the phone ) and Wipe -> Advanced wipe -> Wipe System, Dalvik, Cache and Data. This will erase everything on the phone. No need to do ROM back up as we have Stock ROM available for this model to go back if needed. Your choice.
6. Go to Advanced -> Terminal Command -> hit "Select"
7. Type in these 2 commands:
8. mke2fs /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/persdata
9. dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/persdata
10. Go back to the Home screen of the custom recovery. Wipe -> Factory reset.
11. Reboot
12. You can flash stock software for SM-G900T back into the phone. Please be aware that if the original software of the phone is 4.4 , you can flash any software newer than 4.4 . If it is 5.0 , you can only flash any software newer than 5.0
BTW I do NOT take credit for this I just found it on another thread and reposted it. I do not know who actually found it but I do thank them very very much. Worked on my note 3 sm-n900t

This method worked on a Note 4 (SM-N910T) that I picked up today, at a pretty good price too!
If this note 4 has never been messed with, it looks like RAC voids the warranty when this message pops up. Warranty bit said 1 when I booted into download mode.
I bought a note2 off ebay and this morning a rent a center lock popped up. Anyone have the solution, and if so in "for dummies" terms? Havent done code for 15 years since my visual basic and old webpage design classes. Id really appreciate any help.

It appears that the RAC custom rom loaded by rent a center trips knox in general. I have the note 4 RAC, never had the lock and knox was tripped from day 1.
That sucks! Wonder how warranty will work then?

I have a note 4 with same issue and i can not get it to boot into custom recovery. Just keeps booting to downloading screen..... can someone help me out plz
I bought a blu vivo 6x an rent a center has locked it can someone help me unlock
Is this thread still accurate for newer Samsung phones like the Note 8 or 9? Assume the best case scenario - Unlocked international version, so the bootloader can be unlocked (tripping knox).
What kind of lock is the Rent a Center lock? Do you just need to wipe everything and flash a new ROM? I think some carrier locks are SIM locks, and they are not wiped out simply with a new ROM.
Thanks!
does these code work for note8,if anyone know how to unblock my phone from RAC,i will pay you,,email me @ [email protected]
Anyone know how to take off rent a center lock code on samsung 9? Bought the phone 2 weeks ago and it was fine til today

Hi,
I have a Samsung galaxy Wi-Fi 5.0 16 GB model:YP-G70EW (I think it was this update G70XXKPH)
What did I do you ask?
Click settings-about-check for updates it found one clicked okay it started to download and finished the installation
and my device keeps on rebooting. I see the Samsung logo from 19 seconds,
what should I do?
Thanks in advance.
You probably need to wipe your data and cache partition. That can be done by booting into recovery mode (Home+Vol Up+Power).
Thanks for your fast response, but the (home+volume up+power) does nothing
(Power+volup) I selected -wipe cache partition- did not work, so I chose to -wipe data/factory reset- no help also anymore tips?
By the way, in the android system recovery<3e> window. I see something else weird, This is exactly what it says
– – Copying media files...
Successfully copied meida files.
#Manual mode#
– – Applying Multi-csc...
Successfully applied multi–CSC.
I know that my English is that good but do you see something weird here or is it just me?
Does it even get into android or does it just keep rebooting from the samsung logo?
I don't think so, it shows the Samsung logo for 19 seconds(19 sec every time)and reboots.
I can't even shut the device down. Try to contact Samsung support but no response yet it's been almost 24 hours.
PS. Can anybody give me some e-mail addresses for Samsung support you can PM if you want.
Thx.

If you hold the power button it should shut it down.
The shutdown button did work, only after 10 seconds holding down luckily the screen stays on for 19 sec.

if you try flashing a kernel and rom meant for your device it should work again.. it sounds like something just got messed up with the flashing process (which does happen occasionally).

It probably involves a micro-SD, luckily i ordered one two hours ago, should arrive tomorrow morning.

Hi guys,
well I just got an e-mail from samsung support that I should get it serviced to get the issue fixed(after 2 e-mails they answered back, well… It's something)
They send a link http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/request,
so I choose option 1
model code: ?? YP-G70EW but I don't see my code on their site, what the hell should I do with this.
e-mail address: (at least I know this one.LOL)
I wonder if I should have gone through Samsung Belgium
address http://www.samsung.com/be/ another problem I can't even find this product their! Or model number
Could you guys give me some tips what to do.
And bit more information about my product
Samsung galaxy Wi-Fi 5.0 16GB (with the physical bottom) so the international one(right?)
model number: YP-G70EW
And which version of Oden versions should I use, and link please.
which kernel and rom should I use link also please.
damn, I'm demanding today
First: If you really want to flash a ROM, your guarantee expires.
The version with the physical Homebutton is the international.
You should always use the newest version of Odin.
Here is the link:
http:// www.google.com/url? sa=t&rct=j&q = & esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&sqi=2&ved=0CDwQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fforum.xda-developers.com%2Fattachment.php %3Fattachmentid%3D581913%26d%3D1304094576&ei=xGh0T-_ AEqGr0QXO1JX3Dw&usg=AFQjCNF7sF0f2yJp0IxHp1ISlP2fzGKhtw
And here the links to the Stock ROMs:
France: http:// www.sammobile.com/firmware/? Page=3&t=1&o=1&m=YP-G70&r=1 #
Italy: http:// www.sammobile.com/firmware/? Page=3&t=1&o=1&m=YP-G70&r=1 #
Sweden: http:// www.sammobile.com/firmware/? Page=3&t=1&o=1&m=YP-G70&r=1 #
I know that Belgium is not included in the list, but the ROMs should work with your device.
I've had the same exact issue as yours except I decided to fix it myself rather then check it in to be serviced.
I was a complete noob when doing it and I've managed to soft-brick my device during the process, but it was fun and I quickly learned to unbrick it and flashed a new stock ROM.
That was an awesome journey into Android I recommend to anyone (recommend; no responsibilities tho).
Anyway if you decide to take this path, beware that there are several versions of the Galaxy player 5.0 (US, Europe and others), you must verify that the ROM you're about to flash matches your device version, otherwise you'll eat ****.
Anyway checkout my post and its replies, I'm sure it will be valuable to you:

I have a galaxy player 4.0 and it keeps rebooting and it's because I tried to install a custom boot logo. I can still go in download mode and Odin mode but does anyone know a custom bootloader I can install so I can access the files on my device because if I can delete the file I want to then it will work again.
my desire x is restarting itsellf randomly 3-4 times per day. i called htc india , they told me to go to nearest htc service station and reflash the rom which may be causing restarts. now the problem is i am nestled high in the himalayas and 300 kms from nearest service station. now i want to flash the stock rom myself without voiding warranty. note that i do not want custom rom but a stock rom. my software vetsion is 1.18.720.3.
plz tell a.step.by step process coz i.dnt want to.brick my phone
First, there is no RUU available for your software version no.
Second, reading the whole thing, I believe you are on stock ROM, no bootloader unlock and root.
The only thing you can try is boot to bootloader (press power + volume down) and select factory reset.
Based on past experience, the random reboot indicate motherboard problem which only hTC service centre can fix it.

so,do you mean i cnt flash my rom myself. and i have already done a factory reset tbrough settings.
wat is a bootloader. please elaborate.if it is different from normal factory reset
Yes, you can't flash ROM yourself because there is no stock ROM for your version. Only hTC has it.
Bootloader is like a bios on PC. You can reach it as I said above by shut down the phone while holding the volume down button.
Maybe it's the same as Factory Data reset thru settings but I'm not so sure as I always do a factory reset in bootloader. You can give it a try but I still feel your problem is hardware failure.
ok i will give it a shot today. is there any way to go back to 1.18.401.xx which came with my phone.

which is which now your stock firmware ? 1.18.720.3 or 1.18.401.xx ? which is correct ?
Anyway.. it's getting late here almost 2.00 ... so I guess someone else will help you.. gdnite

i factory reset my phone through bootloader. i can see two more options - 1) fast boot 2) recovery.

After you factory reseted the phone, pull out the battery and reinsert it. Start your phone and if you don't encounter any reboots, you're fixed!
Flowed from my HTC branded muffin...
After installing this (don't install (download is fine) this unless you know what you're doing).
It then proceeded to reboot and now when i try switch it on the "Galaxy Note 3" stuff pops up, then it blinks and i can't turn it on without taking off the battery (then i get the white "galaxy note 3" screen as usual again".
I can only get into recovery mode and i really don't want to factory reset as i just went on holiday and didn't back-up my pics yet.

Oops looks like the hyperlink didn't work.
I am too new to post links. Type www . datafilehost . com / d / 58831a1e without the spaces.
I granted it root access then my phone restarted, then the normal galaxy note 3 white text appeared but then the phone crashed.
I went into recovery mode, however now if i try go to recovery mode it simply restarts the phone one again then crashes.
I can't even reset it now since i can't get into recovery mode (this may be due to me (noob) accidentally pressing restart with ADP or something like that).
My phone is a galaxy note 3 (rooted with kingo root) SM-N9005 (got this mobile phone from a1 . net on a contract).

If you pirate, crap happens. Do not pirate.
Anyway, you should contact Chainfire because he is the creator of Chainfire3D. Don't know if he will help you because you pirated his application... :screwy:

It's ok to not be knowledgeable, but less ok to not even try to research the topic. It's not exactly a secret...

Make sure to grab the update for your region for best results.
*You don't need recovery for this and this will bring back the stock recovery as well.

Ah, if you only knew what you were talking about...
Sammobile is not directly from Samsung / the manufacturer and they have used rapidgator as one of their upload sites along with terafile as their official uploads and most of the guides you find just link to those sites. Plus if you understand how Odin works, you know that it checks the md5 first to assure the file is not corrupted. That and the OP wanted instructions, which you didn't bother helping with either. We obviously have a different idea what "wrong" is, it would appear.
Hi everyone. I got a problem with my HTC M8.
First of all, I didn't make with it any changes (as unlock bootloader, root or installing any custom OS or recovery etc.) Week ago I left device, connected to PC for all night, and, I gess, with "bad" micro-USB cable.
Next day I couldn't boot this phone. I connected it to charger and after little time it was loaded to fastboot. But up today I can't do anything with phone: I can't unlock it, can't factory reset, can't boot to recovery etc...
I tried to find any same simptomes in google, but found nothing
As you can see on screenshots, I made steps for unlock bootloader but on device I didn't see notification about unlocking.
Is this an AT&T version M8? If so, try an RUU.
Other than that, if the phone stopped working spontaneously without being modded, I wouldn't then try to mod it by unlocking the bootloader. I don't see how the cable or leaving it plugged to computer can cause this. If the phone is defective and stock condition, your best bet may be to get warranty service (or exchange for new, if the phone is still very recently purchased).
I though that I lost recovery in some way and should simply unlock bootloader, install custom recovery and got success ))

Yes, but next day I connected another phone, Nexus 5, and it was fully discharged (connected to enabled PC with this cable). And I though that the reason the same... With one exeption - Nexus 5 just was charged and ok, HTC M8 - lost data or corrupted it in some way...
Warranty it's the last chance. Phone arrived from Canada) I'm from Ukraine. In all cases it will cost money. At first I want to find the solution by myself (and with help of xda community and internet)

Are you aware that stock recovery appears as a red triangle with exclamation? It doesn't look the same as custom recovery (TWRP, CWM). When you see the red triangle, press vol (down or up, can't remember) to see the recovery menu selections.
I asked if you have the AT&T version or not (this section is AT&T specific) and you never answered that.

It should be international.
About recovery - I tried to open it from fastboot. Ineffectually. And I tried to boot it with vol. and power buttons. I don't see any icons with exclamations - fastboot loads after black screen, no matter, buttons were pressed or not.

This forum section is specific to the US AT&T version. You would most likely get better help on the international forum (more users there).
Do you get the phone ID in response if you type the command: fastboot devices

Yes I have. And I can open menu "Barcode" from fastboot and see IMEI, SN and MB.
I think that is your serial number, so you should delete it (personal info).
I didn't actually want to know the output, I just wanted to make sure fastboot connectivity was working.
You might try to find the stock recovery for your CID and re-install it to see if that helps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376

oo, thanks) I thought that you can recognise mobile provider via SN
I looked at general topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/help and found somekind of the same simptomes, but all of them were after rooting, installing custom ROM etc. I did nothing One more thing came to me now - phone could start upgrading and then discharged battery.

My advice is to post to the international forum. Your situation is pretty unique, so I'd say it justifies a new thread. And there are a lot of folks on that forum section that are smarter than me, and may have some better ideas.

I created topic in main theme. Thanks.
i am using a lyf water 7 LS-5504 android phone and recently tried to root my device and succeeded. but a week after rooting my phone unexpectedly does not boot anymore. when i press the power button i can see the boot screen but its stuck there.i can boot the phone in recovery mode (or fastboot or what ever mode you would like to call it) and i have already tried factory reset, partition cache wipe, hard reset and what not. i'm guessing the only way left is to flash a rom but i did not take a backup of the stock rom and i cannot find a rom for my device anywhere online. not even the stock firmware is available. i would really appreciate it if someone can help me find a rom for my phone so i can revive my phone because its the only one i have and i have not been able to use it since 2 days and i cannot take it to an official store since i unlocked my bootloader even if i did the store is closed in my city for 3 more days. i really cannot manage without a phone for that long.
<SHORT VERSION>
- LYF Water 7 phone. model no. LS-5504
- its soft bricked
- i need a rom to fix it
- i cannot find a rom for my phone's model anywhere in www(online)
- stock rom if possible but anything that works is cool
-asap or my life and my job will face a disaster.
Can u please tell me how do u root your lyf ls 5504

U just go to recovery mode then try to clear the cache partition for 4 to 5 times then hard reset your phone and it will start working.
