[Q] Media disappeared from apps - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Although files still exists in internal and external memories using ES Explorer, media wont show up in gallery, music player, and all media apps.
* I have not downloaded recent apps
* New media taken by camera app and screenshots are shown in gallery and if I rename them they disappears among others
* New media downloaded from web doesnt shown
* I have unmounted and removed sdcard and nothing changes so the problem is not from the sdcard
* Downloaded third party media scanners doesnt work
* I have cleared cache of "Gallery" and "Media Storage" also didnt work
So, any idea to get my old media back in gallery??
I think the issue is in the media scanner that wont scan for my media

Reflash and factory reset.

[Help]No files in the gallery and walkman

I installed yesterday this rom (version 5.2) on my Live with Walkman with stock kernel. It's very cool, but I have some problems with it.
1. Sync with gmail account is incomplete. Everything except the mail in sync. I have notification: "Sync is currently experiencing problems. It will be back shortly." And that in the notification bar still pops up: "Permission Requested for account <my login>@gmail.com." When I click the notification will automatically disappear, and after some time it appears. - This problem already solved.
2. The Walkman application and galleries do not display any files, even though I have plenty of them on the memory card. But when I make screenshot or takes a picture are those already shown. I do not know what I mean.
Thanks in advance for your help .
Try Factory Reset-ing from CWM or Settings... (Had the same problem and solved)
can u view ur files anywhere else? like in PC or with a File Manager???
That normal...just reboot several time and it will be just fine...
you may also try downloading ScanMedia from the PlayStore. It worked for me a few times.
I can view and open images and music in Solid Explorer or Computer. Only in Gallery and Walkman nothing shows .
go to Google Play Store and download Rescan Media ROOT...its free and it will help you rescan all media files on you phone....
Rescan Media Root and ScanMedia didn't help .

reboot after each time you rescan the media....if the problem still persist then reflash will be your last option...

As our friend said : Rebooting will work.... :good:
If did'nt : Reflash
Factory reset helped. Thank you very much :>
I had the same problem and as you say the only way was a factory reset. However I chose instead to use a different ROM. In most cases GB seems to be less buggy.

[Q] [xperia p] sd files are not seen on pc or inbuilt media apps

I've recently flashed the stock rom via flashtools and then wipe data cache etc done...
now when I opened album, walkman, movies app ; it shows there is no media.
The problems are as below :
The inbuilt media apps don't show any media even if there is a lot of media on the phone
when I add new media like a new photo, only the new one is visible
the third party apps like quickpic, poweramp and mx player shows all the media
The main problem is, on connecting to the pc, it also don't show the old folders... but it shows the remain memory on phone correct...
I also tried to copy the file to other folder on phone and connected to pc, but it didn't show that folder too...
So, I can't access or take the files backup to the pc...
On the pc it only shows the folders which should be on there when the phone is brand new...
I even can't backup the media files or my titanium folder to the pc...
I've checked for the hidden files too...
and reflashed too...
So, now what should I do???
please help...

[Q] Accidentally stopped MediaSerive - several media apps not functioning

I seem to have accidentally stopped MediaService on my unrooted stock S3 running Jelly Bean. Several media apps/functions are not working:
Not able to access sound settings - Settings crashes if I try change ringtones
Stock media player doesn't recognise songs stored in phone/SD card
Not able to access Gallery - Photos don't get saved to gallery
Alarm does not sound
I tried reflashing with stock firmware, that didn't solve the problem.
Any solution to this would be much appreciated.

[Q] I need to reset mediaserver database

Hi all,
I added some music files to my external Sd card, unfortunately a couple of folders were incorrectly named... I renamed them but now both the stock player and Google Play continues to show the incorrect, old folder names as the album names, which is pretty annoying.
I am on a rooted device, I already tried to delete Google Play's database but on the next reboot it was rebuilt identical to before.
There is any manner to have mediaserver's database rebuilt from scratch? I already tryed to stop it then start it again... Nil. Have I to delete the database to have it completely rebuilt? Lol, I can't even locate it on the filesystem. Despite this I can't think any other solution to solve but I'm open to any suggestions, tia.

Try to delete the data and cache of the Stock player and Google Music and afterwards if you start those Apps it should be as if you would start them the first time, so they would check your folders for music again.

Don't think it works that way... Whose apps don't scans folders, they take all infos about media from the mediaservice server. I tried what you said with Music Player and it didn't work, I didn't even try with Google Music 'cos that app has 250Mb+ of data (!) so I suppose that' s all of my music
What puzzles me is that I found a database with the index of all my music on extSdCard, it is under /data/data/com.android.providers.media/databases/external.db (you can view the contents with root explorer), I deleted it after a backup, reboot and... Nothing, the database was recreated exactly identical to before. It was not the right database evidently... Again.
What the hell, that mediaservice's database is well hidden!
Someone can help, please?
You can try the Rescan Media ROOT App but if that won't work I have no idea.

Update (if someone else need it)
Android Media Tracker has issues on Samsung phones when it encounter a broken mp3 file. Solved using the app MP3Dit, which is not only an ID3Tag editor but it is capable to connect directly to the service and adjust things there also.
Five months to solve this s**t!

File Fetch Error In Quantum Radicle v1.0 for Micromax A89

I installed Quantum Radicle v1.0 and all the provided bug fixes which were provided in this site.
But after installing the ROM the inbuilt music player, Gallery, Video Player (Walkman, Album, Movies) are not fetching the respective files from both internal SD Card (Phone Storage 2.08GB) and External SD Card that I have inserted.
Then I tried other apps that are available in the market for the same purposes (Fusion, Photo Gallery, MX Player). But it was in vain. They too didn't fetch the files.
Everything else is working good except the automatic file fetching in such apps.
Please help me to fix it as soon as possible.

I am also a user of quantum radical 1.0.0 but I didn't face this problem.... You can try this " just reinstall the rom, and after installing in the end of installation installer will ask you for reboot, don't reboot at that time, just unmark the box and press back and go for a factory reset. After completion of factory reset then reboot your phone....
