Droid X2 "Set to Fastboot Forced Mode" - Motorola Droid X2

In RSD LITE I accidentally flashed wrong image from my XT 1080 to my X2 and this popped up. Is it a paper weight now? I'm sure a few of you out there have seen this screen a few dishearting or the excited times. Any luck it can be restored?

Could try flashing with moto-fastboot see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3113554
[INDEX] Motorola Droid X2 & Helpful Information (2015)
Sent from my XT907 using Tapatalk

I have moto-fastboot on my computer. I'll try it when I get back home. Thanks. I've always followed your work on the X2. This is the first time I couldn't figure something out on my own using your files.

No luck. Moto-fastboot flashes the files but cannot get past the screen from 1st post. Have to use Fastboot cable just to power on to that screen. Of course Motorola has been no help, since they no longer provide support for devices they do not currently manufacturer. Did get rid of the unlocking dialog though. Just unplugged cable

Any other ideas? I would love to get it back up and running again!

None.
You already did the impossible.
Looks like you flashed a non DX2 bootloader over the locked original.
Which should not have been possible.
I'm out of ideas.

Damn... I was on my phone and I guess I didn't see the exclamation point... Oh well...
Actually the Atrix and the X2 are nearly identical. That's why the CWM recovery for the atrix works.

Recovery reboot option(Request)

I've always appreciated having the option of rebooting into recovery on the "phone options" when powering off. Typically if I have already used the dx2 bootstrap into recovery previously I can just power down when im plugged in and ill reboot into cwm...and my old dx and other phones I've seen have it typically. Pretty sure its doable.
So if anyones up for adding it to your list of things to do id be extatic.
Thx in advance.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
We don't have an official bsr. In order for the reboot recovery to work, i think the script calls for Koush's signature, or something like that, and our recovery doesn't have the proper sig. Not only is it a hacked up recovery, it's an ancient one. I don't see recovery ever being added, unfortunately.
Oh, btw, wrong forum.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
Xodus is correct.
We were all excited for a while when koush got an x2 bout a month or two ago thinking we would finally get a "real" x2 recovery option. Its a little frustrating to see almost EVERY moto phone except for us have that option. And the only "real"x2 difference between our phone and others is our tegra2. I can't see that being the reason we can't get this option. It Has GOT to be doable if someone would just put the work/time into creating it.
Well, don't they have one for the Xoom? We need to see if we can port some of the Xoom hacks. The only difference REALLY are honeycomb and the screen size(right?).

For inquiring minds they're don't know, an unlocked bl allows you to flash cwm to become THE recovery; no bsr or hacked jobs needed.

Cuz XOOM SHIPS with unlocked bootloader of.course
This is what the x2 needs desperately if we ever want to see some.permanent fixes for.performance issues we have had.
I swear someone needs to unlock this caged beast. @Motorola I'm looking at you. STOP LETTING VZW BULLY YOU INTO PERMANENT LOCKED BOOTLOADERS. THEY ARE BREAKING THE LAW!! AT LEAST LEAK US SOME.OPTIONS OR.PUT A METHOD OUT THERE FOR US TO USE...doesn't even need to be official on their website....just send it to a newb in the x2 forum and let em spread the news lol....AAAAGGGHHHH
.
/end rant sorry
Ya well even though we aren't unlocked...it would seem that some sort of autorun sequence for the two commands in the dx2 bootstrap could be programmed to run one after the other in the background at the push of a button on that menu. But it couldn't really be that simple -_-

Logic seems airtight. I mean, if you can push the button in System Recovery and it'll boot to charge mode or recovery mode then why can't the same commands used to perform that action be used as a reboot recovery option. I'm no dev. I would imagine if it was that easy, it would've been done by now.
"Reboot widget" from the market is a good alternative for now....

Seems to me the charge mode is the weakest link in the chain. The normal boot sequence is dependent on encryption and system checks, the battery animation doesn't require so much security. It would make sense to me, after reading the cvpcs blog about 2nd init, they could use 2nd init to hijack normal boot, but that sounds like a total pain in the ass.

ya XOdus...with nitro and masta being basically the only two devs for the dx2 I figured I'd just throw this out there and hopefully someone reads it. If i were savoy with making roms I'd be all over it, but hopefully just my train of thought may help someone with their endeavors in making their rom worth while. Nitro put our bootstrapper in his "eclipse parts" so I would imagine he might be interested in advancing farther.
We have it on the bionic. We're locked plus have to use a bootstrap. Ask around in that forum....

Mer
are you putting the phone into, charge only mode before you start the root script?
for 2.3.4 you can use one of three methods
petes one click
zergrush
motofail
all should work
make sure you have unknown sources and USB debugging checked in phones settings under applications and development(which is a subsection of applications settings menu)
also
you might want to make sure you have the correct Motorola drivers installed on your computer
there are two different sets for 32bit and 64bit depending on your computers operating system
as mentioned above, check moonshadow root tutorial, follow every step to the letter
if you get an error message from the script u choose to root with please copy/paste it here, it will help us figure out exactly where it's going wrong if possible

also
give up on gingerbreak
it will only work on froyo (go figure lol)
trust me tho
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
Pete's one click is the best. Make sure you have USB debugging check under applications>development. And then when you have your phone plugged into your computer make sure it is on charge only mode under USB settings. Another quick setting that usually helps is make sure under applications you have "unknown sources" checked. That's all I got bud.

good ol starting rsd protocol = SBF that bad boy and bring it back to life!
question before you do that, are you on the Verizon Droid x2?
(also, you will want to have at LEAST a 50% fully charged battery before you sbf flash , you phone WILL NOT charge when on the,M, screen, so either use someone elses phone to charge your battery or use an external desktop charger)
rsd PROTOCOL support is for flashing sbf, you have to pull battery to get out of if you don't flash
not sure why it got hot
replace battery what do you get?

make sure its completely off then start the phone holding up on the volume rocker. that should bring it into rsd mode. if it wont stay on that usually means the battery is low and it needs to be charged before flashing. however it will not charge the battery in the state its in now.

If I had known you had the milestone x2 I would never have recommend red lite. It erases your carrier files which removes your ability to have a 3g data connection the only way to fix it is to go to your carrier and have them rewrite their files to it. However you need a fully functional stock ROM for that to work. Check out this thread I has everything you need to know about messing with the mx2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2101633
