Device: XT1527 (MOTO E 4G LTE)
I know the device does not support 5ghz for wifi.
Sometimes some devices come with the 5ghz mode for the hotspot even though the wifi ac, 5ghz, option is not available, for e.g Samsung Avant.
Can anyone who owns this device find out for me if the device has the option to launch hotspot in 5ghz mode?
It should be in the configure menu under tethering and hotspot right under where you choose a password.
I really appreciate everyone's effort.
Thanks

I just got my new Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 WIFI version. I am able to connect to the internet smoothly with my home WLAN network. However, when I turn on the wifi hotspot from my mobile phone, the tab does not recognize it (WIFI analyzer can though). My Lenovo laptop can see it and connect via it to the internet, so the hotspot itself is working.
I am just wondering if connecting to wifi hotspot is really supported in the tab and/or Android 3.1?
Thank you for your advice in advance
Connecting to an "Access Point" Hotspot works fine, tested it with my Galaxy S. Maybe your phone opens an Ad Hoc network?
thanks. this seems to be right into the point. i use symbian phone running joiku, and it indeed seems to support adhoc mode only. so anyway to enable adhoc wifi connecting support in my tab?
Haven't tried it myself but it seems there is a patch in the development section which enables ad-hoc network detection/connection (Tab needs to be rooted): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123638
Thank you. Now I have managed to make the adhoc wifi connecting work by following the instructions behind the above link
Hi everyone,I have a Moto X wifi issue. The phone shows wrong AP list when WiFi frequency band is changed to 5GHz from Auto mode. When I change the WiFi frequency to 5GHz from Auto under the environment where only have 2.4GHz APs, and then I cannot find any 5GHz AP from WiFi list, when I enter into the WiFi Direct, and press the "+" and "cancel" button, and back to the WiFi list, some 2.4GHz APs show on the menu.
Anyone have any suggestions on what is causing the issue?
I know it seems pointless, but there is a reason for this... Is it possible to share my 4G/LTE internet with a router so that other devices can connect to the internet through my phone while my phone still possess the ability to use the internet?
Most would recommend setting up the hotspot, but the apps that I am trying to use are checking to see if the device is connected to a network and hotspot "disables" wifi so it looks like my phone isn't actually on a network.
What I would like is for the phone to connect to a router and share it's internet while it retains internet access.
Nexus 5 [INTERNET from 4G/LTE] ---> Nano USB Router [HooToo Tripmate Router] ---> Nexus 7 [As car stereo head unit]
Thanks and any help is greatly appreciated.

Hey all, I'm looking to prioritize wireless networks on my galaxy s7 from verizon. I have comcast and have access to their wifi hotspots. Unfortunately I have one of their wifi hotspots near my house and my phone will sometimes auto connect to that instead of my home's secured wifi. Is there anyway to set up a priority list of networks so my phone attempts to connect to my home wifi before any others. Thanks
Hello PRO-I users, greetings from Korea.
I've been planning to purchase a Pro-I device, and I wonder if this device has a Wi-Fi relay function, i.e. mobile hotspot with Wi-Fi signal.
The problem is this; in South Korea there are lots of carrier-based Wi-Fi spots that requires EAP-SIM or EAP-AKA authentication to connect, which makes devices without specific SIM almost impossible to connect to secure Wi-Fi connection. In select Samsung and LG(RIP) devices there is a function called Wi-Fi sharing, which establishes Hotspot connection from Wi-Fi signals(NOT from 2G, 3G, LTE or 5G) under the device's hotspot name.
Example) Samsung Galaxy Note9(N960N)
1) Connect carrier Wi-Fi(KT WIFI)
2) Set device SSID as NOTE9-WIFI
3) Turn on Wi-Fi sharing
4) Turn on Mobile Hotspot function
5) Use my PC to connect NOTE9-WIFI, and connect to the internet with KT WIFI signals
Since I use quite a lot of non-SIM devices on the go, the availability of this function would be quite crucial. I've been searching high and low and I couldn't find a single clue of this.
Owners of PRO-I device, I humbly ask you guys a favor to find if this is possible. Is it possible to turn on mobile hotspot function with Wi-Fi connection?
Hi.
Got mine yesterday ... answer is a negative, unfortunately, as soon as you turn on the wifi hotspot, you lose wifi and it switches to mobile data.
