Flash the system and recovery images from 5.0.1. Then ota. See this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=58956577 Better yet, flash the bootloader, system, boot, and recovery images from 5.1.1 and be done with it. If you want to root then flash the twrp image with fastboot and flash supersu in twrp.

All done thanks
I used Nexus root toolkit to update to 5.1.1 and re-rooted after, I made sure I clicked the no wipe option before updating to 5.1.1, all my apps and settings are still there

I'm not really sure but seems there is no way unless if it's the original bootloader, plus this update is only for the mic so it won't fix back and home button. For me it's worthless.
hey guys i tried flashing the ota update via team win recovery and now im stuck at "Running bug_fix1 tool". its been at this for nearly 20 min idk what to do
Same here, it appears as if the update is intended to be used by the stock recovery only.

Is that compatible with the T-Mobile One? Because it's the recovery for the international version, correct?
why not just flash the 4.2 update and get all the fixes
can some post a nandroid of this in twrp, without anything deleted. just rooted,
before root would be better,

Do you have a link for this?
Hi everyone, I recently (as in last night) rooted and unlocked my htc evo 4g lte when i found out that htc will no longer be updating the device. I decided to take things into my own hands.
First of all, I unlocked via HTC dev and rooted with su 1.55. I also had Twrp 2.6.1 Everything was good up to this point.
I looked around for the best rom that was stable and I choose CM10.1.
I flashed the rom and not the kernel thinking i didnt have to. After the rom booted with the touch screen disabled or not working I quickly used the recovery i had made before doing all of this. After doing this over about 3 times i learned that you had to flash the kernel. I went and found the kernal for the rom and flashed it. I thought it was fine but i was wrong. My recovery doesnt recover anymore, I can get to the boot loader but unfortunately my boot loader is locked again due to the ruu I tried to use after I got a 'little' nervous.
Im basically stuck with a phone that doesn't boot. Id appreciate any and all help.
Get adb drivers for the evo 4g lte boot the phone into fastboot and reflash the recovery IMG through adb to the phone after that try and s off your evo whenever u s off it will be virtually impossible to brick this device

I dont mean to sound like a noob.
I have re unlocked my device with twrp on it. Secondly do you have a link to the correct software? and the process on how to properly flash that back onto my phone?
Thank you!!
If u have it unlocked with recovery then u can re flash ROM but to be safe u should s off the device that way if u do ever flash a ROM it will automatically update your boot.IMG

If you want to go back totally stock you can use the VipeRUU tool. You must be S-off to use it.
I have one more question, can i flash this without a kernel? or do i have to use the gui to flash the kernel first then flash over the rom? or is any of that correct?
Well i cannot link it but its the 4.2.2 cyangenmod

You can use Flash Image GUI or you can fastboot flash the kernel. Click the link in my sig-I have a guide for installing kernels while S-on.

no I am not sure what to flash. I jus went to the international thread and am lost. This is my first HTC root job. I guess I just need a step by step some where
You need to first get TWRP and fastboot flash recovery xXxX. Img. Look at the first page of that post though. I think it's pretty much a rough step by step. You need to get fastboot and adb installed on your computer first if u haven't done that already. Can't remember if they mentioned that

The file you need to flash for root is there but that original link was for if the root does not take. But you may want to install a root checker to confirm root.
after you flash recovery,i used the chairfire root zip instead of the one in the intl root thread, as that didn't work for me.
so flash recovery
flash chainfire's root
presto!
Thanks guys.. gonna try again tonight. I'll let you know .

Okay so I unlocked my bootloader using the toolkit but I dont want to flash a custom recovery, I like the stock one. Is there anyway I can root it using the stock recover?
Probably not since most Roms need a custom recovery..twrp/philz..

Yes if you are on the stock rom with no deleted or modified system apps, however the update will most likely break root and could result in the inability to root in the future. Usually within days of an update, someone mods the new update and posts it in the dev forum for those who are unable to update, at least that was my experience on the S3.
How to unlcok the HTC One (M8) bootloader with official HTC Dev tool
Hope to be helpfull:

yes, just boot into twrp, don't flash it.
fastboot boot twrp.img
you can flash supersu and never touch stock recovery
This is your second thread of the same question....I wrote a reply here:

This will get you what you need. One thread is usually good enough
Thanks everyone for the replies. I was somehow able to just push SuperSu onto my phone, no need go into fastboot or anything. After I unlocked the bootloader I restarted my phone and just clicked on Perm Root, it did its thing, I restarted one more time and boom SuperSu was there and root was verified with root checker.

Yeah sorry about that, I noticed that this thread was in General and than there was another thread for Help and Troublshooting. Not knowing which one to put it under I put it in both. Lol
Hello. I currently have Build Number 23.1.A.1.28 on my Sony Xperia Z2 D6503. When I first bought the phone, I rooted it and all was fine until I updated it, then it lost root. So then, I rooted it again, then another update came along, and again, lost root in the update process. Now I've been holding off on updating the phone again because it's getting annoying having to backup everything, and go through the whole rooting process again.
I mean I like the fact that there's frequent updates with the phone, but is there a way to update the phone without having to root it again?
Did you search? And read the other million threads about the same subject?

I don't think he's on 5.1.1, that's why he said he's holding off updating because he doesn't want to backup the data and stuff. So assume he's on rooted 5.0.1, so if he bothered to search he would find a plethora of rooted stock 5.1.1 zip files. If he continued to read he would find out that he just needs to flash one of these files in recovery and BAM you have a rooted 5.1.1 stock rom.
