Hello. I currently have Build Number 23.1.A.1.28 on my Sony Xperia Z2 D6503. When I first bought the phone, I rooted it and all was fine until I updated it, then it lost root. So then, I rooted it again, then another update came along, and again, lost root in the update process. Now I've been holding off on updating the phone again because it's getting annoying having to backup everything, and go through the whole rooting process again.
I mean I like the fact that there's frequent updates with the phone, but is there a way to update the phone without having to root it again?
Did you search? And read the other million threads about the same subject?

I don't think he's on 5.1.1, that's why he said he's holding off updating because he doesn't want to backup the data and stuff. So assume he's on rooted 5.0.1, so if he bothered to search he would find a plethora of rooted stock 5.1.1 zip files. If he continued to read he would find out that he just needs to flash one of these files in recovery and BAM you have a rooted 5.1.1 stock rom.

I'm not really sure but seems there is no way unless if it's the original bootloader, plus this update is only for the mic so it won't fix back and home button. For me it's worthless.
hey guys i tried flashing the ota update via team win recovery and now im stuck at "Running bug_fix1 tool". its been at this for nearly 20 min idk what to do
Same here, it appears as if the update is intended to be used by the stock recovery only.

why not just flash the 4.2 update and get all the fixes
can some post a nandroid of this in twrp, without anything deleted. just rooted,
before root would be better,

Do you have a link for this?
so i downloaded the update today, tried using kingo but it failed, i can confirm that rooting with chainfire auto root works just perfect on the new ota update.....here is the link to download it
http://download.chainfire.eu/352/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-hlte-hltexx-smn9005.zip
I used chainfire auto-root for 4.3, using ODIN, can I still use this? how?

Thanks for the link, unrooted my phone Monday to be able to get the update and I've hated my phone since then. Took the update last night and need to root again.

You wont be able to install the frimware unless your device status reads official ( menu- setting- about phone- status ). So unfortunately you will either have to wait for a modified version of the firmware or revert back to stock with odin tar and then take the OTA update.
Yes smn-9005 is what most of us on NABD (& NAB ) used to root our phones.

Do you lose the engineering bootloader?
You can also flash with Odin either philz or twrp. ... Keep in mind this rom will reflash stock recovery. .. so uncheck auto reboot in Odin and boot into twrp or Philz using vol up home and power and flash su zip
This has a kit kat bootloader that as of right now is not ! Not! !!!! Not !!!! Able to Downgrade .... so once you have nab you can't use any 4.3 roms. ...

Does flashing the unroot tar wipe the device, or at least the apps? I assume that method does not trip Knox 0x0?

As I said, my phone DOES read official, thanks to Wanam Xposed. I don't get any "modified" error message when I look for updates, just "the latest updates have already been installed". Do I need to undo Kingo and Wanam or has the update just not reached the DFW area yet?
Sorry

I misread that, try running the xposed framework disabler, reboot, and try to redownload the software. If you get the message " your device is up to date', then it probably means it hasnt rolled out to your area yet.
I tried this but the phone just boot looped when it said it was booting into recovery after flashing the tar....

Yes if you are on the stock rom with no deleted or modified system apps, however the update will most likely break root and could result in the inability to root in the future. Usually within days of an update, someone mods the new update and posts it in the dev forum for those who are unable to update, at least that was my experience on the S3.
How to unlcok the HTC One (M8) bootloader with official HTC Dev tool

yes, just boot into twrp, don't flash it.
fastboot boot twrp.img
you can flash supersu and never touch stock recovery
This is your second thread of the same question....I wrote a reply here:

Thanks everyone for the replies. I was somehow able to just push SuperSu onto my phone, no need go into fastboot or anything. After I unlocked the bootloader I restarted my phone and just clicked on Perm Root, it did its thing, I restarted one more time and boom SuperSu was there and root was verified with root checker.

Hey guys, so my buddy rooted my device just before I got the OTA 4.2.2 update. In supersu, i clicked full unroot, and now i dont have root access on my phone. When i try the OTA update, it fails and the phone reboots into normal use. Any ideas? PLEASE HELP!
what software version are you on? Likely we can find you a no wipe odin package to do what you want

Title to thisSays 4.3 to 4.2 which isn't possible. What exactly are you trying to achieve? If you're trying to update to anything above 4.2 you can simply use Odin.
If you're trying to update to kit Kat you can Odin up to mk2 then take the update, just know that there's no root or SafeStrap for kit Kat and may never actually be... That's going to take some time. I'd say root probably will happen, just there isn't a way just yet if you're on stock kit Kat

Whoops, i meant 4.4.2
Sorry for any confusion.
I just want stock Verizon Wireless Samsung GS4 4.3 so i can OTA update to 4.4.2
Just to clarify, I do not, repeat do not want a rooted version on Android, just plain ole software from out of the box.
Thanks in Advance,
Mike

Here's a list of Odin files both full wipe and no wipe
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2578209
Just make sure you know what you're going to end up doing if you take the kit Kat update that's all.
If I were you I'd just stay on mk2 but that's because I'd need root and SafeStrap. And there is a SafeStrap method for you to run kit kat as well and keep root.

Flash the system and recovery images from 5.0.1. Then ota. See this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=58956577 Better yet, flash the bootloader, system, boot, and recovery images from 5.1.1 and be done with it.
