So I have had been jumping Custom ROMs lately, and after a couple of ROMs I had tried my phone stopped connecting to WiFi(it works fine for Cellular networks)! So I came back to CM11 (May 24 nightly build) and the wifi still didn't work!
Now, I thought this might be a modem issue so I installed Perkas File Stash but I don't know which modem to install..
I however downloaded the latest one(the last one) xxemg4.zip and flashed it and now my phone connects to WiFi but only if I keep it on top of my router with open WiFi
It would great if anybody could help!
ps: I have a i9300 with
FCC Id: A3LGTI9300A
SSN: I9300GSMH
BASEBAND: I9300XXEMG4 (After Flashing)
ps: I know questions similar to this have been asked before, but none of the solution work including:
Reverting back to official ROM
Using 91WiFiFix
Changing Baseband as mentioned above
Editing wpa_supplicant.conf (Adding #pf = 1, fast_reauth=1, deleting all configured APs)
Making my Wifi work on different channel, mode, Band, encryption etc. etc.
Here is my bugreport and logcat:
Probably failure of the aerial module or motherboard issue.
Any news about this?
I got the same issue today.
It says it's connected to the Wifi, but it can't really use the Internet for anything.
All other devices work just fine with the Wifi connection...
EDIT: it's something weird with the router. For some reason, it has this behavior for Samsung devices, but not for anything else.

Hi guys!
I came to you as my last option, I already checked in 2 other forums and you seem to be the one who knows best about this kind of issues.
I have a I9100 phone (with gingerbread 2.3.4 updated via Kies), it has like 6 months old or so, the thing is yesterday I was at my gf house and I tried to connect to her WiFi but it seems like the green button was kind of dark and it didn't connect at all, like it froze sometimes.
I used to reboot the phone and nothing seemed to work, so I forgot about it for like an hour and when I checked it, it was working with the WiFi with no problem, I thought this was just some minor issue, but later that day the problem became a mayor thing because I couldn't connect to the WiFi no matter what I did or how much I waited. I know my way around computers and I could identify that in the wireless option the Mac Address option said "UNAVAILABLE".
Looking in the forums they said this happened because of the kernel and it seemed to go away with just upgrading the stock, so I found a very good upgrade and I did it via Odin, so now I have ICS 4.0.3 with the following configuration:
BASEBAND VERSION: I9100XXLPX
KERNEL VERSION: 3.0.15
[email protected] #k3-25
BUILD NUMBER:
IML74K.XWLPG
Searching for this on the web I found something about the MAC ADDRESS in the nvram file, but when I checked that file, in the "macaddr" part it says a Mac Address that I think is the one that should be, so I'm a little but confused because the file says I have a MAC Address but the options on the phone doesn't (?)
I've tried the airplane mode, etc... I cannot assign an static IP because I cannot find any network!
Please guys, you are seriously my only hope!!!
Thanks a lot!!!

No one can answer this thread? Seriously? There has got to be a solution!
Hmmmm....Interesting.
So you can use the phone normally otherwise ? (data/calls work OK ?). Check your IMEI in settings/about phone/status. Does it begin with 0044 ? Do not post your actual IMEI here, a yes/no answer will do.
Also, I noticed you're running Speedmod with that LPG rom, I suspect the kernel is causing you problems given WiFi drivers are in the kernel. In the first instance, if I were in your situation, I'd flash that rom again & do a factory reset, and try WiFi with the stock kernel (look in the place/site/thread you got that stock rom from, you might be able to find just the kernel. If you can, just flash the kernel rather than flashing the whole rom).
If the problem is still happening with stock kernel, then we can troubleshoot further. If not, then it's clearly a problem with Speedmod; if that's the case you should perhaps ask for help in the Speedmod thread.
But reflash that rom & get the stock kernel back on & we'll take it from there.
I had EXACTLY the same issue
Solved it by changing my wifi router channel from Auto to 13. Problem solved. For me anyway

Hello,
Right to start my story.
I updated my phone through KIES up to the latest firmware.
Baseband - XXLPW
kernel : XWLPD
Android : 4.0.3
Worked fine. Figured I wanted root back. Flashed CF-root XX-NEE-LPD v.5.5 Kernel onto it from chainfires topic. Everything seemed to work fine except mobile internet. Wifi works fine, but it wont for the love of it, connect to mobile internet. The icon is just not there and everything says its not connected when Wifi is turned off.
So i flashed the Stock Kernel back to it from the Stock kernel / firmware thread.
At this point it still won't connect to Mobile Internet. However Wifi works fine. Which is great and all, but I really would like to use the internet in non wifi able areas. Like work.
So I flashed the complete XEN Stock package (mine is unbranded) for the netherlands. and Still no Mobile internet.
I added the access points for Rabo Mobiel each time with every setting from there website. But it wont connect. Data transfer mode is turned on so that is not the issue.
What could be causing this issue? and How do I fix it?

Try flashing just the modem again or flash another modem.
I think I have isolated the issue. I went and took a gamble and flashed an old official Gingerbread Firmware I still had stored away on the pc.
When I went back in to add my phone providers internet settings etc, it had 3 options and connection type. Internet, Internet+MMS and just MMS. I noticed my ICS earlier did not have those options and just had a blank space where one could type.
So No I am going to upgrade back to ICS using Kies Once again, if it is still a blank space one can fill in that clearly its an issue with the XEN Samsung ICS firmware. In that case ill just mod CM9 on it and see if I can get it to work in that. If not...back to gingerbread I go
Well I found out how to fix it -.-
Appearently with ICS comes a new APN setting in which the type of accespoint is no longer Just Internet, MMS or a Internet + MMS.
To get it to connect to the internet one has to type in default instead.
Oh well. This can be locked.

Hi XDA-developers,
It seems to be an old problem, but it's quite annoying... I was hoping that the new released ICS 4.0.4 could fix this bug, but unfortunately, no.
My phone:
Android 4.0.4
Baseband: I9100XXLQ5
Kernel: 3.0.15-i9100xxlq5-cl753921
Build number: IMM76.XXLQ5
I was using 4.0.3. When I wake up my phone from screen lock, and then immediately turn on wifi, networks can be found and shown, there is a sign with a grey "?" saying that wifi networks are available, but wifi will not be connected immediately. Instead, it will freeze for a little while. Then it will do auto-scanning the networks 1 ~ 2 times, and connect wifi ~30 seconds to 1 min after.
I have tried pretty much every method that has been recommended: Wifi Fixer, Wifix Manager, change to static IP, change frequency to 2.4Hz, etc. However, I have to say no method worked.. Then I tried to update it to 4.0.4, expecting that the new version has fixed this bug. UNFORTUNATELY, it is not solved. The only problem is that it takes about 1 minute to get connected.
There is an issue which discussed this problem (not exactly the same, but similar, they suffered from totally frozen and re-booting).
Issue 28036 Android
Does anyone know how to solve this issue? I'm not sure if it is samsung's problem, or the ICS ' s problem .. Why did they "ignore" us???

Solved When Re-flashed my kernel using CWM from Phone

Hi, I am using ICS 4.0.3 with XXLPQ Kernel. I have faced some serious WIFI turning on Problems for about 2 months, not paying much attention, however I am now frustrated with this time waiting process and restarting my phone when it shows blank face to me.
I have gone through all the forums and said, 2.4ghz enabling, proc-ing the mem bytes size for memory increment and other said restart tools. I have now tried my very own method that blinked in my head, I thought just why not reflash with the same kernel from my Phone using CWM manager. Clockworkmod Manager and then targeted the same old Kernel File to flash my kernel. Now it's working fully functional.
So I recommend, Give it a try, reflashing your kernel with CWM from your phone. If more details are needed, please message me, I will post the needed steps to do so.
the kernel controls your wifi, so try another kernel like the guy above me said
I have looked around for a couple of hours and cannot find any answer to this.
I have just got my S3 back from being repaired after Sudden Death, and have rooted using Odin and CWM Touch 6.0.2.8, and flashed the latest cm10.1 Nightly (Currently 17022013)
I am able to connect to the mobile network (3 UK) and get a good H+ connection.
I cleared all of my saved wifi networks, and try to connect to my home connection. It Accepts the WPA key, and gets to 'Obtaining IP Address...' and does not go any further.
I have tried now on several wireless networks including insecure ones, and it will not connect.
Please help if you've had anything similar, or if I need to provide more information, a log of some kind
I have installed the latest nightly from CM10.1 and the issue is still present. Which makes me think that it is not a CM issue.
I will be re-flashing the stock image of the phone to confirm this shortly. Will post results

this worked for me but i found it easiser to swap the folder before instaling rom
Hello. I'm on 4.4.2, using Trent's ROM.
I'm having an issue where I can connect to WiFi, but no new networks show up after scans. I've been told here to flash "toltevzw_mj9_official_firmware.tar," but I have two issues: (1) I realized that I'm a dumb ass and posted on the wrong thread (that's not Trent's ROM), and am thus worried that the fix wouldn't work on Trent's ROM; (2) I can't find a working link of that .tar file.
I don't mind continuing to look for the file, but is flashing that likely to fix my issue, even on a different ROM? On Alliance, scanning for WiFi networks worked just fine.
