Hi, I read from one of the threads (http://forum.xda-developers.com/cro...evice-protection-android-one-useless-t3128202) that Lollipops Device Protection (makes anyone who takes your phone unable to format the phone unless they hold your google account details)..
sounds great but is it true that its only available for N9? I'm new to android and thought android on the phones all had the same functions as they are all android? (a bit like an iPhone with iOS having pretty much the same thing as the iPod touch?)
I found out the feature from this http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/0...evice-protection-feature-and-how-do-i-use-it/ which also states "Right now (as in, at the time of this article), there is a single device with the feature currently enabled: the Nexus 6. The Nexus 9 will get device protection as well, but its Android 5.1 update has not yet rolled out. Nexus 4, 5, 7 (2012 and 2013), and 10 will not receive the factory reset Device Protection feature. "
want to hear your thoughts,
thanks

Hi!
Does anyone have these problems
- Auto rotation of the screen will always remain between the place and this will only help re-start
- The Nexus 9 states that "the 0% battery left," and then it turns off suddenly even if the battery would be the remaining 90 %
- Magnetic protective cover to turn off the screen from time to time so that the device can not log into the other when turning off and restarting it again. The screen turns off immediately , therefore, if you draw a pattern code, or enter a password
- Between the slowness
Sry bad english but i hope your understand what i mean.
1. Never heard about that one, I also do not experience this.
1.1. Have you tried updating (if an update is available) and maybe doing a factory reset?
2. This sounds like a real problem. Maybe exchange your Nexus 9 if possible.
3. I do not really understand what you are trying to explain. Can you try to explain it a bit for clearly?
4. If I understand you correctly, the Nexus 9 lags from time to time for some seconds right? If yes, I also experience this problem very often and it drives me absolutely crazy.
It's not even because the /data partition is encrypted. I re-flashed my nexus 9 with an unencrypted /data partition which indeed gives a performance boost to the Nexus 9 but this lagging/unresponsiveness didn't go away.
The Nexus 9 seems to have serious performance issues but I don't know why. My first generation Nexus 7 had this aswell but not as heavy as the Nexus 9.
It may really be the Nvidia Tegra chip inside.
Anyway: I'm disappointed by the Nexus 9 in terms of performance. My second generation Nexus 7 performs more stable to be honest...

1. My Nexus 9 is up to date. I've tried factory reset but does not fix the problem.
3. I took a video this problem: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vGjwN2IZ58M&feature=youtu.be ( I bought this cover by Amazon and I told them of the problem. They sent to me a new different cover " my request" but same problem.) The problem does not occur when protection ( case) is "disconnected"
4. Yes you understand right.
I took care of this. I hope they fix this.
I'm new to this and don't know the proper forum to ask about updates. Google seems to be releasing monthly software updates to address software vulnerabilities. (This is a GOOD thing.) They, of course, release only for Nexus devices.
With my Verizon Android phone, I understand (and am unhappy) that there are precious few updates, unless of course they in some way benefit Verizon. The phone remains on 4.4 a full year after Lollipop came out, and there are vulnerabilities over a year old that are not being fixed.
Frustrated that my Galaxy Tab 10.1 languished on Honeycomb, I rooted and installed the AOSP ROM by decatf. Except for the Amazon Kindle App and some video weirdness, all the apps I use seem happy. My question is, "is it correct to assume that the ONLY way my tablet will get security updates is if decatf decides to recompile his custom ROM and make it available?" (That seems unlikely, unless he personally owns and uses one of these old Galaxy Tabs.)
I am thrilled to have new life in my old Tab, and happy decatf is so generous with his time and effort. In addition, a case can be made that my Tab on this 5.1.1 ROM is more up to date (and secure) than more modern tablets which are not being updated by their manufacturers. In other words, buying a new Android tablet may be less secure than this one where the ROM was built from 5.1.1 in Nov of 2015.
Do I understand the situation correctly?

For me it seems so as well.
My wife got from our internet phone carrier last year (thankfully with no cost) a LG Homeboy tablet (LG-V507L) that is stuck with android 4.2.2.
Thanks to decatf, our old Galaxy tab 10.1 (a korean tablet converted to the international model) has seen new life since christmas '2015, even with AOSP 6. So, really, buying a new tablet today is out of question for us.
Hi everyone! First of all excuse me if this isn't the right category for this thread.
The time has come to retire my iPhone 4S (which I'm guessing is not very popular around here ) and I'm ready to ditch iOS for Android.
As I never had an Android device, my expectations are to be able to use the factory OS, get OTA updates, etc, without having to install custom ROMs in order to get a good experience.
Fundamental specs:
- Dual-SIM support.
- Dedicated microSD slot or, if not, at least 32GB/64GB storage.
- Good/great camera
- Fingerprint reader
- Android Marshmallow.
- Priced around 300-350 Euros.
Nice-to-have but not fundamental stuff:
- Quick Charge.
- I'd rather have dedicated navigation keys and not on-screen ones.
- Ideally I'd like to avoid a 5.5" display or higher, but it was though for me to find smaller phones with good specs. I'm used to my 3.5" and I'd rather stay in that 3.5"-4" spectrum. 5" would be better than 5.5" too
From the phones I was able to find, I'd highlight the following: Motorola Moto G4 Plus, Asus Zenfone 3 and OnePlus 3 (unconfirmed specs).
My indecision also has to do with bloatware.
Since I'd rather not 'customize' my phone, at least for starters, I'd have to live with the factory software.
Out of the 3 brands, which one has the best reputation and most pleasant/stable software?
From what I read, OnePlus is close to stock Android, but it seems like their bug-fixing/updating hasn't been the best lately?
Do you have any other phone suggestions that I should look into?

Hi There.
I have a little question in generel about the security off android. I have the Nexus 5x and loved the fast updates. Now the question is: What if i dont want to buy the new pixel? Want to try ex oneplus 5, samsung, sony etc. How secure are they contra a pure google phone? The problem is, that when i google the question, all i get is android manufactores only support there device for max 2 years and apple is far superier with 5 years support. Well then, i dont like apple and i dont ovn the same device more than 3 years!
My dad still run on and samsung s2 and it dosnt look like he´s been hacked or hijacked

Anyone has Any idea on how to link my oppo find N to an external monitor for desktop mode?
There is an integrated oppo proprietary option to replicate the phones screen to the PC (also works in big screen mode). This is called PC Connect and can be accessed via the toggles. Probably not what you were looking for but if its to use your phone on a PC, it will be ok. If you look for something like DeX.
Looking at the Fold 4, I still see our beloved Find N ways ahead. Hope we will get the AA issues solved with Android 13 but chances are small.

I have my Fold 4 on pre-order. After struggling to do anything semi functionally with the Find N since release I have had enough. I will be sad to see the size, build quality and colour (purple) of the Find N go, but I am ridiculously excited about regaining seamless functionality (along with my sanity). On top of the lack of user friendliness / simplicity aside, not having Android Auto and Google Pay has almost killed me (haha)
I am just looking forward to everything seamlessly working out of the box, not to mention what Samsung have achieved with 4 generations of folding devices. S Pen / crazy multitasking / independent cover + home screens etc.
Oppo might have Samsung up against the ropes regarding innovative design and build quality, but they have a hell of a lot to catch up on in terms of user friendliness / software / functionality (which at the end of the day I have come to realise is far more important to me)

BTW Google Pay works seamlessly on the find N.
But I get your point. At the end it's android to support big screens and multitasking. As such I guess we will see a lot of improvements with the A13 release for the Find N as well.

I see people saying it works fine, however I found that it kept on automatically removing / deleting my cards (which got pretty annoying)
Also, it completely stopped working once I installed Android 13 developer preview (which I am currently running), as the firmware isn't officially signed by Google and it thinks the device is compromised / rooted / custom ROM etc
