Verizon Samsung Note 2 - Mobile Hotspot - Mobile number not found - Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note II

I recently bought a phone from the u.s.a. I managed to root the phone and now it is working great on my canadian sim card.
Here is the phone details:
Phone: Verizon Note 2
Mode: SCH-I605
Android version: 4.4.2
Baseband version: I605VRUFND7
This phone is rooted and now on a canadian simcard.
The only problem i found this morning is that i cannot share my mobile data. Here is the problem:
Every time turn on "Mobile Hotspot"
I get this screen:
Checking subscription status... then Mobile number not found
So i am unable to use share my data connection to my laptop. I had a canadian note 2 before this and mobile data worked fine.
How could i enable mobile hotspot? Is there a crack somewhere?

woo hoo!! i found a solution.
Those big cellphone companies make me angry.
Thank you very much to the developer. There is a lot of great developers here. Everytime i come here it seems someone has developed something to take care of my solution such as root etc.
I never donate to charites. But for there hard work i always donate to developers. I hope everyone else does too.

Net10 wifi tether question

I recently changed over from Verizon to Net10 and have been pretty happy with the results. I went out and picked up two i777's and a SIM card for each. I'm running on AT&T and the service is way faster than my old phone (DINC). I have one slight problem and I've been searching for days on here and loogle... everything on the phone works except for the wifi tethering. It's a really weird issue... sometimes I can get it to work after I reboot the phone, other times I'm not so lucky. My i777 is running JellyBam v4.1 (JB 4.1.2) with Siyah v7.6.9. I know that the newer ROM versions (JB 4.2.1) have wifi tethering issues.(or at least JellyBam v5.1 did - it's documented on their forum) So I flashed back to JB 4.1.2 and I've had the wifi tethering work for me a few times, but more often than not, my laptop/tablet/etc will connect to my phone but with a limited connection - no internet. Everything on the phone looks normal, for example, it pops up with the notification for wifi tethering is now on. And I really don't think its a ROM issue. I was wondering if its an issue with the APN I'm using. Is anyone else on Net10 having issues with wifi tether??? Also I haven't tried using a different tethering app... I would prefer to use the stock tethering app. Sorry if this has been addressed already, I tried searching before I posted. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Not sure I can help too much since I'm not on Net10, but perhaps try switching kernels first. Siyah 5 should work for 4.1.2: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1650948
Also, post your APNs?

Thanks, I'll try siyah 5.
APN
name - net10
APN - wap.tracfone

Good call, I should have posted that before.
Flashed siyah 5 and so far so good. I'll keep testing throughout the day. Thanks for the reply. I feel stupid though, I should have tried that before. Appreciate the help. I'll post up later if anything changes

My data was disconnected after I tried running my wifi tether on Net10 bring your own phone. I have a rooted Motorola Atrix 4G using a AT&T sim. I was told it was because I used all my data but here is what I wrote them and how responded.
Me,
I had my Net10 phone just over a week and my data was turned off. I know for a fact that I did not use 1.5 gb of data because I have a data usage app on my phone. I think I was disconnected because I tried using a wifi tether app. If that is why I was disconnected then I should be told that and not that I used all my data package. If this is not resolved I will be discontinuing service
Net10,
I checked your account and your data service has been suspended due to violation of sections 6 and 7 of our Terms of Service. Tethering is prohibited and that's the reason why your data has been suspended. Your data will be restored at a reduced speed 24 hours after an Airtime card is added on your Service End Date. To better understand why your data speed has been suspended, please call this hotline number 1-866-793-0474. This is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week. Thanks.
Thank you for your patience, while we respond to your inquiry.

You have T-Mobile Galaxy S4 and you're asking for a solution to your problem in the AT&T Galaxy S2 forum?
Re read my post.
My phone is unlocked.
I am using at&t sim.
As a matter of fact I switched to at&t gophone today.
Net10 at&t is strictly limited to 1.5gb data, so I'm using gophone smartphone $60 plan, which gives you 2gb, plus you can buy more data at $10 per 1GB

Hello! Let me begin by saying that if just up and buy an Android NET10 phone from a retail outlet, hotspot and tethering are disabled by the carrier and are 'carrier-locked', so this solution may not work for you. This reply is for BYOP users and others with an 'unlocked' phone. (There ARE Net10 ONLINE retailers who sell unlocked phones under the BYOP program.)
The fact that AT&T/NET10 found out you were tethering (and why the OP can't connect) may be because you're trying to tether a Windows PC by means of an Android phone. Windows IP packets have a time-to-live (TTL) of 128ms by default, while Linux and Android packets have a TTL of 64ms. That TTL difference, to them, constitutes a dead giveaway that you're tethering. I guess their network detects this condition, and either alerts them to you, denies you the tethered connection, or both. As for PDANet, CWM Tether (that reminds me - I need my $5 back), and other such utilities, I guess the latest Android versions broke them all.
Try tethering on a Linux Live CD. Dollars to pig pills (doughnuts) says that both of you can now tether without detection or problems. Why? Because for all they know, they'll think you're just using data on the phone....
By stumbling onto this nugget on my own, I now realize how I tethered without any grief for YEARS on Verizon by using a Windows Mobile 3G phone and Windows boxes. I never heard a single word from them about it.
Why did they never catch on? I discovered that it was because of the fact that WM and Windows IP packets have the same TTL. Again, they had no idea that I was tethering instead of surfing the Web on the phone. Same thing with AT&T and the others, I suppose...
Fortunately, a registry hack will change the default TTL on a Windoze box to 64ms - the same as Linux or an Android phone. Here's the URL describing the hack: http://www.pctools.com/guides/registry/detail/885/
My phone ain't a Samsung, so I guess this'll work for any Android phone. This worked like a champ to solve my own dilemma, but, as a disclaimer, YMMV.
You're welcome...

[Q] HELP Samsung Note will not Tether

Hey guys so I have a problem with my Samsung Note.
First my phone
------------------------------------------
Model number: SAMSUN-SGHI717
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: I717UCLF6
Kernel version: 3.0.8
Build number: IMM76D.UCLF6
--------------------------------------------
My problem:
I purchased the phone about a year ago through ATT here in California with a 6GB a month shared data plan that I share with my girlfriend. The phone is completely stock except for a 8gb sd card.
During that time I could tether my phone via wifi or usb with no problems whatsoever. However about a month ago a issue started that I have not been able to fix. Every time I try to tether via wifi or usb to my laptop I get a error message pop up.
--------------------------------------------
Mobile hotspot is unavailable
to enable mobile hotspot on this device, go to att.com/mywireless or dial 611
----------------------------------------------
The first time this happened I contacted ATT tech support and talked on the phone with multiple people who attempted to help me with no results. They can't do anything because my phone IS able to tether and be a mobile hotspot they double checked their system. Also my girlfriends iphone can tether just fine and she shares my data plan. So at this point the only option left is a error with the phone. Also I do not have a exact date of WHEN this issue started happening as I went through a period of not using it to tether.
I have been attempting to fix this for over two weeks, going through forums and so far NO ONE has been able to shed any light on this. If there is anything you can think of for me to try you simply have NO idea how much I would appreciate it. THIS HAS BEEN DRIVING ME CRAZY!
NOTE: I actually got the tethering to work by removing the SIM card, turning the phone back on, turning it off, reinserted the sim card, and firing it back up. However, it only worked once and then went back to giving me errors.
Thanks,
Gabe
I Rooted my phone, installed Root Explorer ( a file manager app ), then deleted tethermanager.apk or tether2.apk (its been so long I don't remember).
I don't know what you have tried, besides beat your head against at&t. But it sounds like your sim card is not provisioned correctly to enable tethering.
Figured it out

Ok just got back from meeting with a AT&T friend of mine and it turns out the problem was data limits set internally on my att accound. No idea how they got turned on but when she turned them off everything worked fine. So problem solved turn your data limits off on your account!
Wow...
So all I've "learned" from this thread I already knew..
Calling at&t for tech support is like asking an elephant to fix your car...

Nah! I'd give better odds to the elephant fixing the car than the at&t rep actually solving even the most basic issue.

A granny, here. Mobile Hotspot Entitlement location?

Hello. I'm a 70-year old grandmother who does pretty well with tech but I've run into a problem and am hoping someone here can help me. If so, I'll bake you some virtual warm chocolate chip cookies. ps This is my first post.
Samsung Mega
SGH-l527
4.4.2
Original Carrier: ATT
Current carrier: Tmobile
I am currently and successfully using PDAnet to USB tether my phone to my laptop.
However, neither the mobile hotspot feature of PDAnet or on the phone itself work.
I want it to work.
Error Message: Mobile Data is unavailable or invalid Sim.
Clueless tech help from Tmobile and Samsung.
Googled the problem and found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2283615
I have successfully rooted my phone.
I successfully downloaded and installed SQLiteEditor.
I feel like I'm VERY close to fixing this but so far no cigar.
** I can't figure out where to locate the "entitlement" so I can change the value.**
Can anyone tell me the exact name and the path I need to follow through SQLiteEditor to get there?
Bless your heart.

Most easy way is to get a 'mifi' box and kindly ask the provider for an additional sim-card. Some providers even supply those boxes at a fair price and to be used in the same subscription.
Since you donnot specify, I expect the phone is not rooted.
Next, I hope the phone is not branded (supplied by the phone company and loaded with their software).
So the system is running android 4.4 (as that was the lates version I got on my SII).
Now I'm doing this by head as android 4.4 is some time ago.. See the phone settings app and in there you should find the option called 'tethering'. Other names are wifi-hotspot and such.
Be noted, if the phone is connected to a wifi network, the option can be grayed-out or even invisible, so best to disconnect the wifi network. I'm in daupt if you need to disable the wifi itself. In the end it is needed.
The latest available stock ROM is 4.1.2 Check out the picture to activate WiFi tethering hotspot. You can put the SIM inside the phone, turn mobile data on and then activate tethering.

Help with WiFi calling on LG G8

Hi folks,
I recently bought an LG G8 (AT&T, unlocked) on eBay to use with Freedom Mobile in Canada. Prior to purchase, Freedom Mobile reps assured me that the specific model I was getting (LM-G820UM) was compatible.
Overall, it does seem to be working fine, but the option for WiFi calling is greyed out. I went to the Freedom Mobile repair center and they said I need "some software that they forget the name of that is specific to all carriers to be overwritten onto my phone." I have no idea what this is or how to do it. Any tips?
Thank you very much!
More info:
*#*#4636#*#* code showed that neither WiFi Calling nor VoLTE are "provisioned"
Model Number: LM_G820UM
Software Version: G820UM10i
Baseband Version: MPSS.HE.1.0.c4-00043-SM8150_GEN_PACK-1.194551.3.196204.3
I have a similar issue, but it is a Sprint phone and I need WiFi Calling and VoLTE on T-Mobile to work.
