I just got my new streak yesterday, the rom is 347. I messed up my streak, it won't load android anymore. Can anyone help to re-install rom 347 ? Thanks!

I was trying to flash rom 345 by using the the update.pkg and recovery.img here

and now when I turn on my streak, it just shows the dell logo.
if u used the recovery for 345 and the 345update.pkg then u should not have issues.
Try factory reset and see if that helps

I expect that this rom cant be rooted at all as it's likely that every known exploit has been patched. I'm going to attempt to make a pre-rooted/custom rom in the upcoming days.
so i can install this rom following the same procedure over my 2.3 olleh rom?
i.e only placing this pkg file to sd card and update it or i have to again update the system.img and this pkg file again through fastboot mode?
you need a region 14 recovery installed, use the 319 one if you're not sure.

I would be willing to beta test your pre-rooted rom if you want, with 319 recovery loaded and adb working I should be able to get out of any problems.
The venue is a bit down on my priority list as I already have other things I promised to make. Also as I cant test stuff myself.
Are you comfortable using fastboot? You of course will need 408 installed for the various firmwares, feel free to actually confirm if none of the rooting tools work.
As the venue has comparatively few safety nets, everything you do of course is at your own risk.

If you using olleh rom before,you can direct upgrade,no need use recovery fastboot again
1. Download rom 407 rom, rename to update.pkg to TF card.
2. hold Vol - and vol + keep swith on the phone to upgrade

You could, but unless it's 408 based that defeats the purpose.

I don't read Chinese either, but if you watch the countdown timer in the center of the screen, when it goes away it reveals 4 tabs. The two on the right both link to the file. The one on the far right appears to be working but very slow. I will let it go for a couple of hours and see if it finishes downloading.

well the 408 rom is rooted now so can we except now a custom deodexed rom and a CWM

Its great news that 408 is rooted, will it run MMI and USSD codes or as Manii said region 14 (olleh kt) roms dont support them. Help me out I had to downgrade to Froyo to run these codes.

You will need to flash the 319 recovery then use the 319 pkg
I did that and I am running froyo. Both MMI & USSD codes are working. Wanted to know if any of the new GB updates support MMI & USSD codes function.

there is a recent root method discovered by another member it so far works on venue 8 4.2.2 rom
as for custom recovery, once someone can extract the original stock recovery theres several methods to obtain a custom recovery.
Stock deodexed & zipaligned Venue 8 3830 4.4.2 ROM.
Directions:
Copy to SDcard
Boot to CWM recovery
Factory Reset
Flash zip
DOWNLOAD HERE
NO ROOT MD5: 8a74296565fae69ec5d9b980eded44ea
If a link dies or something, please post here and I will get a mirror or two up.

Edit: I took down the rooted version as root was not properly integrated into the ROM. I will fix it and reupload soon.

Signature Verification Failure using this Stock
Hello there,
Just tried to use the ROM to revive my Venue 8 3830.
Downloaded and copied it to a SD card, having the tablet in system recovery - droid boot with opened chest door with red exclamation triangle. Apply update from external source aborts install with "Signature Verification failed".
Tried to wiping cache and data/factory recovery with no luck.
Device was never rooted.
Please do you have any suggestions?
