I have a verizon gear s that I originally purchased with a plan. It got water damaged and I received a replacement for it. Now that I have left the device off for a week and put it in dry rice to absorb the moisture, the speaker works perfectly. If I want to give it to a relative, how do I make sure they don't use my phone number that was originally connected to it? The verizon version has no sim card slot, so how do I disable the phone number?

Hi, today while inserting sim card(with some force ofcourse as it was not going in easily), sim card stuck there and after half an hour hard work, I was able to pull the sim out. After that everytime I inserted the sim, phones says no Sim Card
I figured out that one of the sim slot pin is broke and its not properly making any contact with the part of sim.
So, I wanted to know if anybody faces the same issue and whether they have contacted the Sony Service center and any estimation of cost to be incurred in repair.
Or anyone got their phone repaired by simply soldering the Sim Slot on the motherboard as when I disassembled the phone, I found that the sim slot is soldered on the motherboard.
Any suggestions???
I guess that you could do this:
1. Resoldering
Remove all the cover. Separate everything from the motherboard.
Desolder the SIM slot. Get a old SIM slot from a old phone(Or just get it somehow). Then Solder it, wait for it the dry and reassemble.
2. Turning the warped contact back.
Do the same steps as step 1. Then use a tweezer and gently twist the contacts back. But be careful, it may end up worse.
3. Give it to Sony
Only do this if it is still under warranty. Replacement of motherboard is very expensive,to the extent you would rather buy a new phone.
They will most likely replace the whole motherboard.. The price of the motherboard is approximately 80% of the whole phone normally. Backup your data first.
Last one
Buy a new phone. But first you must be loaded.
Hope it helps!
I have a second hand Galaxy S2 which was unlocked to all networks and randomly the phone would connect to driving mode. I used GoLauncher EX to delete Voice control but then it started showing that it was charging constantly. After a lot of research I found the problem was in the charging port.
I ordered a new charging port online and I've put it in instead of the old one and now the charging problem is gone, but now my phone gets no service on a Three UK sim, I'm quite sure it wasn't on Three UK to begin with.
Is it possible that changing the charging port might have locked the phone to the original carrier again?
and is there anyway to unlock it(without root) or get it working again a different way?
(This is my first post. Forgive me if I've made any mistakes. )
Got quite a few views. Does this mean no one has any idea on what it could be?
Take a look at the antenna wire sometime you touched it and it's not connected properly
Yeah I have seen a lot of people lose signal who replace that port. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the antenna. Make sure you have knocked it by mistake

I experienced the same problem with my Samsung S2. I had destroyed the charging port by being careless when charging it which meant my phone would not charge at all; although if I was lucky I would get about 10% charge every day.
To resolve the problem, I bought a cheap charging port flex cable off ebay for about £4.00 which I thought was a bargin. After taking the phone apart (with help from a YouTube video) I replaced the port, turned the phone on and it charged perfectly. Then all of a sudden I lost all signal. I moved around the house, hoping to get the slightest bit of signal but no, nothing. I did a lot of research online as to why this has happened and everyone said it was to do with the antenna cable that runs along the left hand side of the phone so my immediate thought was to buy a new one. I did a factory reset to see if that helped but it did not. As I was desperate, the following day I went into town to see if I could find a shop that sold an antenna wire. I went in shop after shop but nowhere sold what I was looking for. I went into a shop and described my problem to the man behind the counter, and he knew exactly what was wrong. On the flex cable there is "REV" followed by a number, and he told me that if the replacement number is not the same as the original then the phone will have no service.
In the photos you will see my original cable that was "REV2.3" and my replacement cable that was "REV2.2".
Long story short... when replacing the charging port make sure the replacement flex cable has the same REV number as the original otherwise you will have no service. Your problem is not related to the antenna wire.
I hope this helps!

I know wireless charging is possible via the Touchstone method if I'm not mistaken, but if I recall, you're stuck with using that and only that. Is there a way to hack in wireless charging on the Note 2 with any charging pad such as that Fatboy pillow or the Nokia pads or anything with the Qi standard?
Also, can someone take a picture of the location of the wireless pins on the phone. I hear they're covered, and I just would like to see the back of the device.
Thanks in advance!
I am wondering the same thing. This is the first video I have seen which at least means we dont have to replace the usb charging board. You can see where he solders the leads. He says its a Qi back in the comments.

No, you wouldn't be stuck with charging only through the touchstone. I did this mod on my galaxy nexus and didn't have that limitation. I love the touchstone and I'm looking to find confirmation that someone has done this mod on the Verizon Note2...I see info about all the other versions but not this one. I'm assuming it's going to be similar to the Sprint version mod but don't know for sure. Please, if anyone has info on this mod for the Verizon Note2, respond.

Well I'm intrigued. I own the Verizon note 2, 2 HP touchpads, and 4 touchstone chargers. I love being able to drop the touchpad into the wireless charger and letting it go. To have this functionality with the note 2 would be to cool. I also have a fair amount of electronics knowledge. I'm pretty certain that once retrofitted, a device set up for wireless charging would work with any wireless charger as the principals of charging are all the same as I understand it.
One question that comes to mind.. is there really any difference in the make up of the note 2 circuit board between providers other than maybe the radio circuitry? If not then there isn't any reason why the mod shown in the video shouldn't work. Over the next couple of days I'll check into this and report my findings.
Anyone thinking about getting this?

That would be nice but we don't have contacts to line that up with... We technically do have the hardware their but I have heard a few horror stories about people not being careful and screwing up their phone trying to do the mod. I had wireless charging on my S3 but I think I'm gonna hold out on the Note 2 this time around...
Don't open case or you lose LTE/GPS

So I ended up buying the Qi charger on ebay along with a new chassis back (it was for the GSM variant) with the intentions of swapping backs and then having the holes to put the qi charger through. After MUCH hacking of the back, it worked, however I lost GPS, and 4G LTE. The chassis is just too different to work correctly.
I then put the Verizon chassis back, back on and used some copper tape to get the contacts to touch without the holes. Everything worked properly, but still no GPS or LTE.
I took it apart thinking I broke maybe one of the pins that use the chassis back as the antenna -still nothing. So moral of the story, don't take the chassis back off or the phone will be half of one. Its been about 4 days and going to various places in SF to see if LTE would come back on, but no dice.
Going to return this phone since its now broke (still 30 days) and next I will try and use the copper tape to put behind the actual battery contacts and NOT open the case at all.
Really wish VZ didn't take away this capability, as I already invested in the wireless charging stuff for my HTC Thunderbolt. Have a S3 and that works perfectly fine since the holes/pins are there.

You must have damaged something. You can take the back off without destroying anything - in fact you have to when you first get the phone since the battery doesn't come preinstalled.
Edit: never mind, didn't misread your post. But people have removed the chassis too - you still must have damaged it somehow.

Ya I must have, everything looked fine, but ya, something happened and I couldn't get it to get back to 4G. Went back to Verizon today and got a new one. I want to try and see if I can just hook directly to the battery terminals... need to get my ohm meter out.
I did it to mine took about a hour be careful and gentle minimum force is needed follow the YouTube video and use the proper tools

wow, you break the phone and then go and exchange it.
And they say personal responsibility is dead in this country...
Hello. After some weeks my TMo Samsung Galaxy Gear S Won't Stay Connected to Charging Cradle. I can hear it "Click" however, it does not stay connected and pops or sometimes slides right back off. I've contacted TMo Customer Support and have even discussed the issue with a new TMo Customer Care Dept when they called to inquire if I was still happy with TMo and if there was anything they could help me with (have been a happy TMo Customer for over 4yrs, having come from Verizon and have been able to take full advantage of the 0 Down Offers). I've been advised to take the GGS along with the Cradle to a TMo Store so that they can attempt to determine whether its the Watch itself or the Cradle. Either way, whichever one it turns out to be, I've been advised that it is either going to be covered under Warranty, or, as a last resort, under JUMP Insurance Claim with $5 Filing Fee. Has anyone else experienced this issue with the TMo Samsung Galaxy Gear S Won't Stay Connected to Charging Cradle ? Thx.
Yes. Mine did the exact same thing. In fact there's been some buzz about Samsung already retooling the charger for the Canadian GSs.
In my case, I got lucky and my local ATT rep just replaced my broken one with a defective unit they had just rcvd back from a customer. However, this is only a band aid fix... as I'm sure it will happen to this one too. I called Samsung customer support and they stated that they are aware of the issue and will update me when a replacement will be available.
Until you get a new one, use a rubber band or wire twisty to hold the charger in place. Good luck!
Thanks for the heads-up.

Thanks for the heads up. I took my Watch and Cradle to my local Samsung spot inside the BestBuy. They happened to have another Cradle handy and it appeared as though the Pins on my Cradle had been somehow pushed in a bit. The Rep kept inquiring as to where I purchased my watch from and when I told them T-Mobile we both thought that it would be good to check with them. Went to TMo and discovered that part of one of the Clips on the Cradle had broken off, which is why it wont stay seated and locked in place with the Watch. Long story short, the good Reps at TMo put out an All-Points-Bulletin to all the local Stores to be on the lookout for a "Returned" SGGS so that they can swap out my bad one. Think I'll get with Samsung as well in the meantime. Again, thanks for hitting me back. LJ
I bought a used international Tab S3 with a broken sd/sim card tray stucked inside the tray slot. Previous owner had taken it in to a cell phone store hoping they can help but no go. I sent it in to an authorized Samsung repair center but they won't touch it because it is an international version. Anybody have any idea to pull this broken tray out?
Do you have a photo? Needle-nose pliers?
No photo yet. But the SD card slot is real small. Needle nose plier is out of the question. The only thing that will fit into that slot is a sewing needle.
Tweezers then?
There are 'phone repair tool kits' out there that provide a whole bunch of tools to disassemble phones/tablets. Perhaps you could take it apart to better get to the SD card slot to push the broken piece out? There are some youtube videos on how to breakdown and reassemble Samsung tablets and phones (I didn't see any specific to the Tab S3 but how different could it be?).
Try a hoover, something with a bit of sucking power.
