Hi guys,
I really do not want to install KIES as it looks to me a HUGE piece of bloatware.
Anyways, to make the story short, I think I got all S2 drivers installed the clean way but I need to make sure everything is OK, before I root my phone.
This is what I did (might be useful for others):
First, I plugged the phone through USB on my Windows 7 SP1 64bits box. It detected right away the phone and installed a set of drivers, except the CDC serial. I was able to see and browse the phone content (deleted some .ipk file I downloaded by accident also):
In Device Manager, I had flagged the CDC Serial:
I said, OK... let's get into Odin mode (Vol Down + Home + Power) and see what happens. To my surprise, once Odin was displayed on my phone, Windows detected new hardware and downloaded then actually installed the right drivers???
After the drivers were installed, I powered down the phone, removed the USB cable and start it in normal mode. Once the phone was powered up, I plugged back the USB cable and the CDC Serial was missing again into Device Manager! I powered down again the phone and start it in Odin mode, the CDC Serial driver showed as being properly installed... go figure, heh.
Finally, the question: I would like to know if there is a method to check if Odin software communicates properly with the phone, before I attempt the rooting. I don't care if I get a flagged CDC Serial when the phone is in normal mode.
I really hope all drivers are properly registered, so I don't need to install the creepy KIES... as a side note, if you extract the executable, you will find inside the archive a cab file that contains a huge set of drivers (C:\kies_win\CabFile\USB Driver\SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe.cab). I extracted the .cab file and ran a driver upgrade in Device Manager for the CDC Serial with the phone in normal mode, it did not do jack.
Thanks for your help.
Hi,
I use Windows XP Prof SP2 on my HP 520 laptop and am trying to connect my Samsung Grand phone as Mass Storage.... unsuccessful!!! :crying:
When I connect my Grand to my laptop using USB cable, my phone says "Connected as media device", and sometimes the right bottom corner notification on my laptop recognises my device and flashes I9082 and then says "a problem occured during installation of your hardware", and sometimes my laptop doesnt recognise (it does nothing).
When I check Device manager, it has a yellow exclamation next to the Samsung Mobile MTP device driver (screenshot attached)...
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Samsung USB Drivers for Grand on my laptop & restarted after driver installation. I also uninstalled and reinstalled Kies latest version, several times. Have tried going to Device Manager and updating the driver. Just says that there was no better match found than the software already installed (Screenshot attached)
Samsung Kies recognises my device as GT-I9082 but just says "Connecting" and stays that way for hours (Screenshot attached)... I m looking at connecting my android device as mass storage (I somehow dont find Samsung Kies comfortable enough).
Please let me know the way forward.
So as the title suggests I'm having trouble with my connection between my phone and my pc. When I install the samsung usb drivers everything goes well until you look at device manager, my phone is recognised as a MTP but not in download mode because there is a yellow exclamation mark next to samsung mobile usb modem with code 31, I've tried almost everything and I'm out of hope... Do you guys have any ideas?
Hi,
I installed the oneplus drivers and enabled usb debugging, but in my device manager it shows Android in yellow exclamation mark, and i also didnt get the RSA confirmation of USB debugging.
What to do?
Ok i solved the problem. Mod u can delete this please Thanks!
I've spent hours trying to find a working driver for a Vizio XR6m10 mini tablet. I can access it for files via USB on windows, but I'm trying to root it using and under device manager, it still shows "Android Device" with an exclamation point and problem. I've installed the Qualcom drivers multiple times, but no dice and it won't show up on a port in QFIL without the proper driver.

Use
Qualcomm HS-USB QDloader 9008 driver for Windows
because without installing this Qualcomm USB Driver on your Windows PC, your PC won’t be able to detect your Android device.

Thanks for the quick reply. I've tried that one multiple times by both downloading and doing the automatic install of those Qualcomm HS-USB QDloader 9008 driver for Windows and also extracting the zip version and using Device Manager. When I go to Device Manager, select update driver/Browse and point to the extracted folder where the drivers are, I just get "Windows could not find drivers for your device,
The device shows up in device manager as "Android" and there must be some kind of communication because I can open a command window in Platform tools and give the command "adb reboot bootloader" and the device will reboot into the bootloader with the little penguin icon on the screen.
I even installed the Android Studio and SDK tools and used the settings in there to install USB drivers and that doesn't work either.

Okay, I sorta got the driver working. I had to put the tablet into EDL mode and id does now show up in Device manager and looking at the properties it shows the driver is indeed the QDloader 9008 driver and it now shows as COM 4. There is still an exclamation point on it, but that may be just because it says the driver is unsigned maybe? Anyway, it also shows up in QFIL as com 4, but I get an error communicating with Com 4 when trying to download, so it may be something else with the tablet.
Thanks for your help with the driver!
