I have recently gotten this device for the government program. I can't find a forum for this device. I am thinking about rooting and want to know if its still possible to root? Please guide me on that. Root or not, I need help to update the PRL and the two methods I were given to try isn't working. The PRL needs to be fixed so the stuck connection get out of 1X back to 3G.
This is the forum for evo3d, yes rooting is still possible. Want to update prl? You need MSL/SPC. Can used one of this programs to get msl/spc and change prl.

Thanks for the links. Are those links off-site? Does the forum category for this device still exist on this forum site? I've told the Admins about two years ago that all of the devices' categories should remain available and be listed under main Archive category, because all devices make their debut at least twice; the first time on post-paid and prepaid carriers, and also the government program release, so people will still want to root their devices. I see all forum categories for new phones. I'm gonna need help to root, but first I need to solve the PRL.
I did enter ##72786# and it ask me to enter a password. I did enter the password that is 983021. It still will not work. I keep getting another error after entering the password that is a popup saying EPST: Excess SPC Failures with a 60 seconds countdown. I keep repeating, but no luck. True Wireless are trying to figure this out since the device won't behave and obey my commands. The reason I need to fix the PRL is because the speed is stuck on 1X when its suppose to be 3G. Is there another option?
Hope there is a miracle on this...
The battery is 1,700mAh, I think. Its a small battery. I want to get a higher mAh battery and/or a battery lasting longer. I plan to root, just a simple root of replacement ROM and removal of bloatwares to better improve the performance and longer-lasting of battery power. Are there a more mAh power battery that is the same size and will fit in the device? Want to know if there are 2,000+ mAh battery being the same size as this 1,700mAh battery.
I've found a battery with more mAh, but its size are bigger and it also includes the back cover replacement to fit. One problem, there are no cases available to fit the device having bigger battery size and back cover replacement. So I have to choose... Getting the awesome blue case that I've found and use the same 1,700mAh battery ...or... go with a bigger size battery with back cover replacement without having a case for the device. Tough decision and I haven't decide on it yet. I am hoping that there is a battery with more mAh power being the same size as the 1,700mAh battery. If there is, please post the links.
Now, I want to know about rooting. If I keep the 1,700mAh battery, how much battery life and time on average will I gain when the device is rooted and cleared of bloatwares?
I need help with rooting. I have a disability with learning, understanding and remembering. Can someone volunteer to help me with rooting one-on-one, please? Either through texting, PM/Chat on FB or the PM on here. I will need help. There's so many posts and different things on here that is very confusing. I just want a simple root for ROM (correct?) replacement...the best one for this smartphone. Clear out all the bloatwares. And I want to see what kind of themes are available (favorite color is blue). Most importantly is which options on here to root my EVO 3D for ROM replacement. I also want to improve the battery life.
Quick question, What version do you have, CDMA or GSM? Sprint? Sim card? Battery life depends on use, I got good life on stock battery, with medium use, 10 hrs or so.
I think its CDMA. True Wireless partners with Sprint and service is on Sprint's network. No SIM card. I want to root to replace ROM and remove bloatwares. Is there a battery with more mAh while being the same size as this stock battery? I also need help with rooting. I don't know which one on here is the best for the EVO 3D.
I still need help, please anyone. I am about to get a USB cord to connect my phone to a computer. Out of all options to root, which one is best for the EVO 3D? I would like one-on-one assistance to guide me through the process and hopefully it all be smooth. I also need to know if there are any battery that has more mAh while the size remain the same. I've found a kool blue case. And a new question... I know that EVO 3D accept a max limit of 32GB SD card. Which kind, brand, any info, anywhere...is the best to use? I want the max, 32GB. There are many different kinds of SD cards out there. I am going to get the USB cord at Radio Shack and want to know if its ok getting a SD card there or get the best one online? I will be here waiting for replies.

I got the battery! Still waitin' on the best root option.
I am amazed about the battery! Its lasting basically most of the day rather than the stock battery lasted a few short hours, thanks!!!
Now I am in desperate need for SD card. The max allowed is 32 GB/Gigs. Can someone please help me with that? What brand? What style? And there's something else, I can't remember, something like different levels of reading/accessing...I want the besr. I want to buy on eBay. I know that many sellers sell same exact product while one is cheaper price and the other is higher price. I'm not wanting to spend expensive price. Please give me several options to pick from. Plus what am I to look for in SD card. I need to move apps to it and be able to take pix. Once I get the SD card, I will pursue trying to root to clear up the device's space to improve performance. Now I just nees to know what SD card to get, plz.

Evo can run 64 gigs, but you need to format it the right way. I forgot about the right sizes of partitions, but you csn find that on the internet without a problem. I had 64 gigs and it worked just fine
Ahh, well, 32GB will be good enough for me. I don't max them out. The 32GB will last me a very long time. Here is what I got... I did a search as "MicroSD 32GB for HTC EVO 3D" and got one result. I wanted a Seller to clearly mention that it works for specific device. Here is the screenshots.
Got a great deal using the eBucks!!!

I got a question. Remember that my device won't update the PRL automatically (click of button) and manually. Support online and I tried and tried with no luck. I was asked to bring it to the store to see if it can be fixed or replace for another device. Reason to update PRL is that the speed is stuck at 1X when it should be 3G/4G. Is there another option?
Or what about rooting? When I root the device, will it finally allow fastest connection speed possible by network? Limmie know, asap, going to the store tomorrow about this plus monthly payment.
You have 2 choices, root by unlocking bootloader and installing custom recovery. http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/
Or s-off with Unknownforce's downgrade tool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653777
Unlocking is easy, but voids warranty
S-off is harder, but don't need to contact htc to do.
Evo3D can support 64GB card, but there was no cards that size when phone came out. On stock rom card needs to be fat32.
Here is more info

Did I get the right SD card? It may not be like in the picture. The Seller had a dropdown list for different phones and I selected the EVO 3D. I will take a picture when it arrive and hope that it works.
Now as for rooting, here is what I can only find 5 roms for EVO 3D. I don't know what ya mean about unlocking, I just simply want to replace for a much better rom, remove bloatwares, improve performances, etc. I used to have Samsung Epic and since the RAM was 1GB, I rooted. Its been a long time since I've rooted. I got to decide which from the list below to use for rooting (I know that Cyanogen is #1 on here and everywhere).
Unless you have s-off, unlocked bootloader is a prerequisite for rooting. Also in order to be able to boot CM ROM you must have firmware lower than 1.57 to which you can downgrade only with s-off

I have a learning and mental disability. I am totally confused and do not understand anything you are saying. This is why I need one-on-one assistant thru texting (have another ph to use for texting) or thru a Messenger program on the computer to help me.
First, I made another topic under HTC EVO 3D, can someone please answer that? There is an icon in the notification bar that is always stuck there and not doing anything. I need to know what that is.
As for rooting, I really need one-on-one real-time chat to guide me whenever is the best time. I forgot to get a USB cord to connect to the computer. I will try to get that asap.
In my opinion, my rom Negalite Blue is the best for sprint, my Kernel Buttered toast JCFunkMOD too.
Do you know how a computer works?
Bootloader = BIOS
checks hardware and loads kernel
also checks kernel signature, to make sure is from HTC.
Kernel = core OS
the stuff in the back round
kernel loads the User interface
User Interface = Android, Windows, Ubuntu Mac OS.
This is the rom.
Boot Partition or "Boot" = kernel + init ramdisk
Init ramdisk is the set of instructions to load the user interface.
System partition is where the rom is stored, it is read only and signed by HTC any editing will cause a security violation. In order to perm root you need to edit system partition.
Bootloader prevents you from changing your system partition, recovery partition, and boot partition.
So you need to unlock bootloader or turn security off "s-off"
Any micro sd is ok.

I am looking at a good price on a Thunderbolt, but it is stuck at the HTC screen.
From poking around this forum it looks like there is a good chance I could fix it.
Any thoughts as to odds that this is a brick and not fixable?
there is a good chance that its fixable, yes. I have seen Thunderbolt's average $200 on craigslist(heck, have even seen Bionic's for $250)... so, the fact that there is something wrong with it I wouldn't offer more then $150.. actually, even that is a tad high.
Cool - getting it for $100.
Looks like even a brick sells for 70-100 on ebay so I think it is a risk worth taking.
Thanks for the help!
Just picked the phone up - it looks brand new. Even got the 32GB memory card!
The guy I bought it from worked in a Verizon store and said it was not rooted.
When I do the volume down during power up I can get into the boot loader.
Charging now and off to search the forums for next steps, but any suggestion would be much appreciated.
Sorry relatively new to HTCs
If you can get into the bootloader that's a good sign. Find a ROM that looks good, which includes a radio. Load that into the top level of your microSD card and make sure it is called UPDATE.ZIP.
Go ahead and boot into the bootloader and flash the new ROM and see if you get into the O/S this time.
Does it have the sim card still in there?
Robert
Yes still has SIM card
Looking for a ROM now
Will this work?
PG05IMG_Mecha_VERIZON_WWE_1.12.605.6_Radio_1. 16.0 0.0223r_NV_8k_1.41_9k_1.64_release_174685_signed.zip
Renamed to PG05IMG no update
Edit didn't work - says this one is older than current.
Looking for a newer rom...
if you haven't already looked at it, there's a virtual shopping list of ROMs over in the Development subforum.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1249328
Personally, I like Sense so I would suggest either one of the hybrids or the Sense 3.0 ROMs. Pay attention to installation info and radio requirements.
Unfortunately, I cannot tell from all that gobbledygook numbers and letters how old that is. I am sure someone else here will be able to.
Good luck!
Robert
You can't downgrade unless you are rooted, you can only flash upgrades only one you maybe be able to flash is 2.11.605.5 if your phone is not there already.

Got 2.11.605.5 stock to load! Now to call VZW!
Thanks for the help guys!
EDIT - Oh wait - now to see about rooting!
Hey guys, I came had the HTC Sensation, and I broke it VERY bad, and T-Mobile refused to give me a new one, so I bought the Amaze 4G on Amazon.
The phone worked okay for the first week, and about 10 days after I had it, it started to randomly freeze and I would have to lock and unlock the screen for it to work again.
Wasn't a big deal at first. It was almost as if the processor wasn't getting enough voltage for example, on my Sensation if I undervolted it too much it would freeze up and I would need to pull the battery.
Not as big of a deal though, but it is SO ANNOYING when trying to text or type something and having to go through the whole process.
But then the device was getting very slow when I had it on the charger, so I argued with Amazon to take it back and they said I would have to contact the private dealer.
I had no luck with the dealer, so I basically got screwed over out of 500 bucks.
BUT... I think the problem is fixable...
Correct me if I'm wrong, (and I probably am), I am NEARLY 100% positive this is a battery issue or a processor issue.
And maybe one of you phone geniuses will be able to help me out (You guys never dissapoint)
But before I drop 15 dollars on a battery, I want to know if one of you have had experience with a problem like this. Even after rooting, wiping, installing countless roms and apps, I have had no luck at all.
Did you buy it used?

Yea it was "Certified Refurbished" by the company, but they said that there was no way to prove it was like that when it left their shop, so basically I got screwed out of everything. I tried contacting HTC also and they said a standard repair could range up to 100 dollars, and I really don't want to spend that unless I have to, but I am almost positive it's the battery that doesn't give the phone enough power. I will take it up to T-Mobile and see if they have a tester battery I could use. Very weird problems though, it makes me wonder if it's more than the battery.

I think we need more info before we can think of possible reasons for the problem.
Are you rooted?
What software version are you using?
Did you do the factory reset?
What apps are running background?
Did you try different sd card?
Did you get logs (logcat, etc.)
etc. etc.
It may be purely hardware issue like you say, but as you say, software can cause similar problems, too. Especially, if you can remedy the problem by going in to the lockscreen and back, I think it is software related.
EDIT: Wait a minute! You're the same guy asking about s-off'ing the phone with ICS leak, aren't you? Probably you didn't flash the original ICS RUU before flashing a custom ROM? Mismatched firmware can cause tons of problems and there's no easy solution to it rather than to flash the firmware. But then, if you're not s-off'ed, you can't flash firmware to begin with. What a mess you are in.
Also if you think it's a battery problem plug the thing in problem still there not the battery. It will get full power plugged in even with a bad battery.

So I recently purchased an HTC Amaze, and I have a few questions regarding it.
I've seen quite a few topics about free replacement accessories (back cover, USB cable, battery, and etc), and I'm wondering what phone number I'm supposed to contact in order to receive them, since I'm in Canada, so the phone number may be different. Reason as to why I want these, is that my back cover is squeaking on the right side of the phone and having an extra battery would be nice to compensate for the poor battery life.
Something that I've noticed after using my Amaze for a few days, is that it will switch between HSPA and UMTS rapidly at pretty much any point in time. Basically, it switches between them all the time. Information of my phone is basically, I'm on Mobilicity with Stock ICS, unrooted, and S-On. I'm willing to provide any other additional information which would be helpful to fix this issue.
Being somewhat of an audiophile, I like to use the Equalizer app from Smart Android Apps in order to compensate for lack of bass and treble on my headphones. However, I noticed that the app in question has no effect on the music playing. The graph at the top of the app does not show music playing even though it is. I have already disabled all of the sound enhancements in the stock HTC music player, but the Equalizer still does not have an effect on the music playing. I have tried searching in the Amaze forum with no results, so I'm wondering if anyone has any idea as to why the Equalizer app does not work. Again, I am on Mobilicity Stock ICS and unrooted.
EDIT: Apparently, the Equalizer app works with the pre installed Google Play Music, so the issue seems like it is only isolated to the stock HTC music player, which I prefer over Google Play Music.
With the above average camera, I like to take pictures here and there. However, I I occasionally have problems with the camera software, where the camera generates a complete black/blank photo. I usually see this when there is a delay in taking a picture with flash enabled. Sometimes the LEDs will flash as normal, but generate the blank picture, and sometimes the LEDs will lag and stay on, and then generate the black photo. Does this issue happen with anyone else and is there a possible fix?
If anyone is able to help me out with at least one of these issues, or even all of them, I'd appreciate it.
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using Tapatalk 2
1. You can get your replacement parts even in Canada, just look on htc's website for the contact number under support for your country
2. The device switching between H and 3G is normal as well, it's basically based on the coverage in your area, I'm using Telus stock so instead of saying 4G all the time, I get the constant switching as well, which I actually prefer knowing exactly what kind of coverage I'm receiving.
3. The equalizer probably wasn't made compatible for stock music apps, you can search around for other equalizers or simply get poweramp which has all you want, equalizer and music player in one
4. The camera issue is probably the cause of a bad update, I had this issue once when I first tried out Telus stock ICS, my device is originally t-mobile, but the bloatware annoys me so I switched to Telus software which is much smoother imo. Anyways, upon reflashing the update, the blank photo issue was gone, but here's another trick you can try since it's basically the camera I've been using, use the modded HQ camera, I've been using that ever since I reflashed, so to be honest I have no clue if the issue was fully fixed with a reflash but I've never had the issue since I've been using the modded HQ camera app.

1. The problem with Canada's phone numbers is that they only provide phone numbers for Carriers and Mobilicity doesn't happen to be on the list. Is it possible for you to help me look for a phone number, or is the US number that I've seen floating around suitable for use? (1-888-617-1113)
2. Ah, I see. I asked someone else about this issue as well, and it seems that it uses HSPA during active data use, and UMTS when there is a connection, but no traffic through it. That clears up that problem.
3. The odd thing is that the Equalizer app has worked on the HTC music player on multiple other versions as well on my HTC Panache (Glacier/myTouch 4G) under stock (Sense 2.1), and Sense 3.5 as well. I guess I just need to wait for an update to the app for it to support Sense 3.6 on ICS.
4. Reflashing the ROM isn't an option for me, at least until I root it, which I don't think I need to, as I'm satisfied with Stock. Could you please expand on the topic of the modded HQ Camera? I'm not entirely sure as to go about that.
P.S. Is there anyway to get rid of the screen bleed? I've read suggestions to use Screen Filter to disable the backlight on the keys, however Screen Filter does not work on the Amaze on ICS yet. This isn't terribly bothersome, and I could live with it without a solution, but I just want to see if there are any other ways to disable the backlight on the keys. It's fine if there isn't, I'm not concerned.

The same US number applies to Canada according to HTC site.
The hq camera mod is modded version of the stock camera uncompressing the images, hence increasing quality and it's a smoother one than the stock by a bit, but since you're not rooted, its not possible for you.
The only light bleed fix for ics is via speed Rom, but that's a custom Rom, you can check the bible thread, think gg had listed another method of fixing it there.

3. Pretty much the same as 2 then. No root, no fix. All right.

Ah, so that's where the phone number is. I was planning to call the phone number that I found originally but it looks like you found the phone number that's actually supposed to be used. Thanks a lot.
I know rooting only takes a minute, but I only purchased the device a week ago and I plan to keep it. I don't want to risk my warranty with rooting yet. I'll research more on the Amaze's rooting procedure and see if it is able to be reverted without leaving a trace that it had been rooted in the first place.

I'll research more on the Amaze's rooting procedure and see if it is able to be reverted without leaving a trace that it had been rooted in the first place.

Unrooting is simple, it's relocking the bootloader with s-on that leaves a trace, but it's all personal preference, don't do anything you won't be comfortable with.

Relocking the bootloader leaves a trace? I'm pretty well informed on the nature of rooting, I just want to be able to unroot without having it known to the manufacturer or carrier that I rooted in the first place, in case my device requires warranty servicing.
Is S-Off required for rooting, or am I able to root without S-Off, as the nature of the wire trick worries me.

You can root with s-on, what I meant by it leaves a trace is that with s-on when you lock the bootloader, it says "relocked", while with s-off, when you lock it, it says "locked" and then you can s-on as if you never did either, get the idea? Unlocking is required for root by the way.

So let me get this straight....
1. I can root with S-On.
2. If you relock the bootloader while it is S-On, it will say 'relocked'.
3. If you relock the bootloader while it is S-Off, it will say 'locked'.
Could you rephrase your statements? They are very confusing.

Reboot your device into Hboot mode, as in turn it off, hold volume down button and power it up, see where it says "locked"?
Well when you're s-on, if you lock the bootloader, it won't say "locked" like it is now, instead it's gonna say "relocked".
If you s-off the device on the other hand and you lock the bootloader after unlocking, it will say "locked" exactly how it is right now.
Understand?

So you're saying if I lock the bootloader, even though it is already locked/S-On, it would say 'relocked'? Locking the bootloader when it is S-Off would make it display 'locked'?
If that's what you're saying, then the new bootloaders on HTC devices are pretty odd, but yes, I understand now.
So is S-Off required for rooting, and is the wire trick doing any permanent damage to the device, where I would not be able to have it fixed if it suddenly broke down?

No no no, that would be your result IF you unlock it, if it's not unlocked now, why would you lock it back?

That was what I was wondering, but you stated that "Well when you're s-on, if you lock the bootloader, it won't say "locked" like it is now, instead it's gonna say "relocked"". Saying that if I lock the bootloader while I am S-On, it would say 'relocked'.
Okay, so finally...
1. If it is S-On, it will say 'locked'.
2. If it is S-Off, it will say 'relocked'.
...is the gist of what you're saying, right?

Read the Amaze bible thread, the bootloader and s-on/s-off, are not the same. You're just changing everything I say around to suit yourself and not actually reading it properly, read over the past few post and take in every detail, if you don't understand a term, read the amaze bible thread, there's explanations to every term used daily here in there, if you don't find a term, google it, okay? Great.

Okay, I think I understand it now. So the Locked/Unlocked/Relocked is a new feature of the HTC bootloader which I haven't seen before in previous HTC devices. Therefore, the cause for my misunderstanding.
So one more try...
With S-On
1. Unlocking the bootloader will display 'Unlocked'.
2. Relocking the bootloader will display 'Relocked'.
With S-Off
1. Unlocking the bootloader will display 'Unlocked'.
2. Relocking the bootloader will display 'Locked' as it originally did.
Is this correct? I'm sorry about my previous failures. I was unaware of the new feature added to the HTC bootloader on the newer devices.

No. 1 - This WILL start a war, not because I want one, but because 90% of sheeple don't believe my 15+ phones of proven testing.
No. 2 - I am trying to HELP SOLVE your problem, so arguing about not doing this and still having drain is your fault. I am not saying this is your problem to a 'T'' but more than likely is.
No. 3 - I am not responsible for your Nexus 6P (or other phones) becoming a tomato from you doing something wrong. This is very simple and I have NEVER had a problem, but what you do to your phone is your responsibility, I did not hold you against your will through the bits of the internet.
Little backstory...I AM the Tech Guru for my family, and we have a large one that surrounds us within an hour, so we have a lot of get togethers.
Most of my family who has gotten to know me in the past 7 years has understood that iPhones are not welcome and usually end up switching to Android just because if they need help I usually have the answer. Anything from Windows to the wiring in peoples cars, I have worked on. Computers are a big thing with my family and their friends and I just want to share something I have noticed over the years that basically happens 100% of the time with their Phones.
People on XDA will think I am a little overzealous when it comes to flashing my phone. But when I do, I back up only the bare essentials, mainly pictures in my case to a PC. I then make sure my PC is ready for a clean download and run ccleaner and trim the computer (I run SSD's) and download my rom and gapps of choice. I use Pure Nexus and Dirty Unicorns mainly with a strong learn towards PN.
I then transfer the two zips to a FRESHLY formatted USB drive (I use a 8GB Silicon Power USB 3.0, they have their own format utility and a lifetime warranty so format away!) and OTG cable (I use the Ravpower cable Benson Approved). I then boot into TWRP's Latest recovery which is 3.0.1-0 at the time of this writing and do the following. in pressing sequence.
Wipe - Format Data - yes blue check - back - advanced wipe - Check Dalvik/system/Data/internal/Cache - swipe to wipe - home
*Sometimes I will resize and repair system, data, and cache just for giggles, then rewipe everything for extra added measure*
My device is fully wiped, everything's gone and ready to flash. I then connect my 8gb Flash drive to the OTG cable then into the nexus and hit my rom zip to flash and flash it, then my gapps zip I want and flash it. then I hit home, reboot, and POWER OFF. I always give the phone a good 2-3 minutes to cool down from flashing and just give the phone a break. And yes, I flash my rom and gapps seperately, I do not add zips. I find it fun to flash so why not take extra steps!
This is the SAME way I flash phones on the following phone, ahem...Nexus 6P, two Nexus 6, four (yes four) Lg G3 Verizon, Moto G, two Nexus 7 2012, Galaxy S3, Tmobile S6 Edge, two Droid Trubo's, two Moto X Pure's, Droid Razr maxx HD ...you get the point, more than 15 actually... and if you think I am bluffing I will try to take a picture if I can get everyone to boot into twrp and lay them in a row. We're an android fri
One thing I have noticed after flashing allll of these phones is the ONLY time anyones has a battery drain issue is when the phone has not been completely wiped OR, and yes I said OR...they are using a Micro SD card from another phone. I'm not saying I haven't seen them. My girlfriends G3 was working great with her SD card UNTIL she decided that she didnt want to have about 200 pictures on there anymore. She didnt reboot her phone for about 2 days and then she bring it up to me saying her phone died quickly that day, I asked her what has she done recently that she never does, new appssss....different charggeeerrrsss...you know anything. she thought for a second ( I flash her phone so I know she didn't flash anything wrong), she then tells me she deleted some pictures and a few videos the other day, I then asked her if she deleted them from the SD or internal, and she said SD. I was like cool, turned off her phone, removed her SD, threw it into my PC, copied her files over, opened up SD Formatter, formatted her card, then slapped it back into her phone and connected her phone to the pc and copied the pictures she wanted back, which was like a WHOPPING 6. no joke, shes very low maintenance it's the best.
But ever since then no media scanning/server/ whatever you want to call it since.
Call me crazy, but I am very observant.
So you probably didn't read all this, I didn't expect you too, I made it long and annoying because this problem has drawn out over the years for FAR too long and has become FAR too annoying.
Most will argue, YOU WANT ME TO WIPE MY PICTURES AND ALL MY APPS OFF MY DEVICE? WHY WOULD I DO THAT JUST TO FLASH A ROM?!?! THAT'S ANARCHY! EVERYONE GRAB YOUR TORCHES AND PITCH FORKS!!!
Like I said...I back stuff up to a COMPUTER first, and if you don't want to? Then don't! But don't ask why your scanner is eating battery when this is here telling you of all the phones I work on THAT battery drain doesn't exist unless they didn't follower a scenario.
Etc - On a side note, to safe guard your phone from flashing woes I recommend the following. BACKING up your EFS partition before you do ANY flashing and back it up to a SAFE location, External Hard Drive, that USB you only use to keep your Ex Wife's picture's on, wherever. I have seen people lose their IMEI but I have never done it personally, but after the horror shows, I make people safeguard their precious phone code. One can do this EASILY by the following!
Boot into TWRP, press back up, then uncheck everything on this list until EFS, check that one and swipe to backup. That's it.
If you lose you IMEI, and don't have a EFS backup, you are screwed. Asking XDA for a backup of the EFS partition is against the rules and you will not find help from the community and will need to send your phone in for repairs.
Etc 2 - If you are not one to regularly clean and Defrag your HDD(Mac/Linux not included), I highly recommend so. Sometimes roms aren't bad downloads, but bad file's allocated to a broken disk file structure, after I have upgraded to SSD's a few years back, I always cleaned and defragged my disk before a rom download and I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS FOR YOUR PHONES SAFETY but I don't check MD5 sums. I turst my clean drives to do their job and for the past few years I have had great success.
If you are interested in upgrading to a SSD which I highly recommend, this can be done very easily and cheap nowadays! PNY sells a very fast and so far reliable SSD on amazon for $40 for a 120gb and 60 for a 240gb! Very fast I/O and 550MBPs read and 520MBPs write!
Be sure to blow up this thread and tell me why I am wrong, or why you refuse to wipe internal. Your stubborn mistake is easily fixed.
Thanks friends and for those of you this helps let me know!:victory: and as always, HAPPY FLASHING!
Got lost in all the words because I have A.D.D. However I have solved this wakelock by removing corrupted files from my internal storage.
TL;DR. To much family background

But as you worded this to entice trolls, flames and other dramatic posts, I'm going to stop this before it escalates.
Next time just post your method and save the dramatics. :good:

I know this might be a long shot since it's an old phone and whatnot, but I've recently breathed new life into my Mega from US Cellular. Had the screen repaired and it's good to go again after previously being destroyed by an estranged ex. I was wondering if there is a way to get the latest marshmallow update to the device? I've seen there are numerous posts for all other Mega models (i.e. - all models except the one I own). I would really like to use my Mega again but with it being on Kitkat, it's kind of useless at the moment.
Any help or advice whatsoever would be greatly appreciated.
And again, I apologize if I'm bringing up an old, dead phone, but I really loved this device years ago and I would like to love it again.
Cheers!

Not 100% sure about this, as I am only doing the same as you are with my L600 model (minus the screen repair >.<) lol.
For the Sprint model at least it is pretty much compatible with anything made by Silesh. Hopefully it is the same for you on USC .
Have you gained root or anything yet? that's going to be your first step on anything, old or not hopefully xD.

I have rooted my phone, but I have yet to find any roms that are higher than 4.4.2. I'm able to use the phone as it is just by inserting my active sim card, but hardly any of my daily apps will run because of the old OS. I've been too afraid to try any of the other roms for the other megas as I don't want to brick my phone. I just hope there's some way to bring this phone back to life. Hell, even lollipop would be a huge help at this point, lol.

Haha yea I beyond understand, my daily driver is a Moto E 2014 CDMA only device xD.
If you have acquired root, & custom recovery, try extracting the ROM u wish to install, & ONLY flash the boot.img, I do believe that Lollipop would run on most KK Kernels without much fussing.

So, I just made a discovery (I think). After taking the back of the phone off to retrieve my IMEI, I noticed that the model number on the phone says L600/R960. Does this, in theory, mean that I can use any roms that would normally be available to the L600 line of megas on my US Cell mega?!

You should be able to not ONLY use any of the great L600 Sprint based custom ROMs, but as I said before anything by Silesh.Nair should actually be compatible . & your radios should stay safe if you don't flash those over, however I am NOT 100% sure of anything I just said, still roughly 80% sure you won't do any real bricking or harm to it xD.
Also, would love to get a PM to discuss how much difficulty you had with your screen replacement, as mine is getting to be totally irresponsive in general haha.

So I managed to get a custom rom and whatnot onto my Mega. I'm currently running Cm12.1 with Philz Touch Recovery. Been using the phone for almost 24 hours now and all is working well. The only issue I've found this far is that despite being a 4G LTE phone, I can only manage to get 3G. This could just be a carrier problem and not the phone or rom. I'm not at home right now, but when I get home I'll post the instructions I used to get everything working. Cheers!

So I did that and found that my GSM service is currently active, yet my preferred network type is set to LTE/CDMA. I tried changing it to LTE/GSM to see if that would help anything, but it just sets itself back to CDMA after a few seconds.

Try switching it to GSM auto (PrL) or CDMA/GSM/LTE, & also keep in mind, some of these old phones simply tell you 3G when in reality you're getting the untapped lol

I did try your suggestion, but as I said before, none of the changes I make seem to stick. After a few seconds, I can watch the setting change right back to the default setting. I don't know if I'm missing something to make the setting take hold, but for now I'm stuck on LTE/CDMA auto (PRL). I wasn't even aware this was a GSM phone as I thought US Cellular used CDMA. I could be wrong, though.
